You know you're a Black Templar when...

You know the Templars are so much truer of Space Marines than the refounded Imperial Fists, that it would be insane for Rogal Dorn to return to them and not to the Templars.

You're learning calligraphy just to keep a cool record of battle in a leatherbound tome.

You remember the name of your Swordbrethren models just from their appearance alone, even if they have identical weapons.

When your opponent's hive tyrant flees from combat with your Emperor's Champion because he know that he will die to the black sword

When the Emperor's Champion pursues the Hive Tyrant all the way back to the Hive Fleet, and beyond. The xenos must be punished for trespassing the Emperor's realm! If they refuse to choke to death upon the Black Sword, then they will die of dysentery as the Black Sword is shoved up their...!

You know your a Black Templar when you meet your friends new girlfriend, she tells you she is wickan and it takes every ounce of will power not to scream "burn the witch!!!"
You know you're a Black Templar when, after hearing that GW is announcing something big, all you can hear in the back of your head is "CODEX OF ZEAL! THE CODEX WOULD HAVE SO MUCH ZEAL! IT WOULD BE THE MOST ZEALOUS CODEX! ZEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!"

You refer to the Black Legion as the "Brown Legion," to

1) Differentiate them from the Black Templars, as only Loyalists are worthy of wearing intimidating black armor. (Though the Raven Guard tends to use camouflage, meaning their armor is hardly ever black, anyways.)

2) Declare to the galaxy the Traitor Marines are cowards whose armor will be stained brown as their bowels loosen in terror, knowing the Emperor's black armored executioners are coming for them.

When your ZEAL burns with such intensity, you can actually use it as a weapon- see Battle-brother Dio, whose helmet-mounted speaker counts as a flamer in-game. (Eat your heart out, pansy sons of Fulgrim!)

You know you're a Black Templar when...

...you began downsizing your other armies to get more space and funds for Templars

...you don't care if you win, as long as more xenos and heretics died than you lost marines

...you look forward to going up against the traitors that call themselves the Dark Angels. They'll remember the Ophidium Gulf...by force.

...the Grey Knights are allies of convenience. Once the heretics and xenos are removed, the Grey Knights will be next, as the foul psykers will only serve to cause more heresy.

You should be fine repainting those armies in the Black Templars' colors, as long as they're humans free of Chaos-taint. Those Astra Militarum guardsmen and Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii? They're Chapter serfs now. Those Astra Militarum tanks and Adeptus Mechanicus dunecrawlers? They're variants the Adeptus Mechanicus developed at the Black Templars' request, so no enemy will ever outgun the Emperor's Champions. Those Space Wolves and Blood Angels? They're allies who were granted the honor of wearing Black Templars colors, privileged to fight with Black Templars Chapter Tactics at the side of actual Black Templars.

Those Chaos Space Marines and xenos? Corpses displayed to raise allies' morale- at least warn lesser servants of the Emperor of what fate will befall them if they turn from the Emperor's light- while crushing that of the enemy.

Well said.

If they use the Great Enemy's weapons to attack those loyal to the Emperor, i.e., ACTING THE SAME WAY AS CHAOS SPACE MARINES, then they should expect the Emperor's Champions to treat them like the Great Enemy- with no pity, no remorse, and no fear. Edited by Bjorn Firewalker

That actually describes my army pretty well.

In my fluff the BT's need a little extra boost so they have requisitioned some tanks, and some techies to run said tanks for them. It just turned out a bunch were Chimeras and had people inside. Oh well, paint them black!

You know you're a Black Templar when you're browsing the net and Amazon keeps suggesting these in adverts:

You always mount your Chaplain atop an enemy of the Imperium with his/her legs torn off. (I prefer Chaos Terminators, but a loyalist shouldn't be too picky- all enemies of the Imperium deserve death and destruction.)

The Chaplain grips one of the Daemon/traitor/witch/xeno's disembodied legs- it counts as a crozius that inflicts -1 Leadership on enemies who face the Chaplain in close combat- the other hand grips a sword, as no Black Templar will be caught dead without a blade.

You always mount your Chaplain atop an enemy of the Imperium with his/her legs torn off.

It's just a flesh wound!
I wonder what Dark Mechanicum and Necron enemies- those WITHOUT FLESH- say. "It's just minor structural damage"?

Bad motivator unit.
