Just played my 46th draigo wing game

In KP games, it's practically cheating. If I don't combat squad, my 2k list is 6 KP. I can't convince myself to run all Pallys though.

 

My list right now is:

 

Draigo

5x Pallys w/ 2x PC, ammo

20x Termies w/ 4x PC, ammo

2x NDK w/ HPC, HI and NGS

 

With Grand Strategy, I can always have at least one NDK as a scoring unit, and possibly both. That gives me 6 KP in a game where I need to keep my body count low, and 6-7 scoring units in objective games.

 

Oh, and I know the NDKs are huge point sinks equipped like that. I just don't know where else to spend the points. The HI and NGS are both great, but the HPC is hit or miss. Rending is nice, but otherwise, meh.

I would drop them both for a Personal Teleporter on one of the DKs. Maybe drop one squad of termies to a squad of Paladins. Same number of wounds, same number of psycannons, same number of KPs, but it would allow you to put a PT on the other DK and mastercraft all of your paladins psycannons.

Right well I finally have 2000 points assembled (but totally paint free still, and the pallies are missing their shoulder pads...), yet still haven't played a 2000 game with them...

10 pallies, 4 psycannons, 1 falchion, 2 MC halberds, psybolts, 2 hammers, 2 swords, 3 halberds(only 2 pallies are the same as each other for wound allocation shenanigans)

2000 points on the nose, while I think the libby has a few to many powers, I still want to try some out and see how they work, eversor assassin is a weird choice for this list, but I have a model for it, so thought I'd try it out. If I make him scoring and then reserve him, along with the non PT dk, I can try and keep them away and use them to try and capture something near my edge as the cheapest scoring units, or I can scout him and try to catch my opponent in a first turn charge (unlikely but ya never know) or out flank him in spear head deployment games.

Right. Got a second game against the same imperial guard list. 1500 points, Kill points and dawn of war again...

He won the roll and made me go first though.

 

He conceded by the end of turn 5. I'd taken out marbo, his demolisher, his vendetta and the priest while he had killed 4 pallies.

His demo charge scattered and wounded 5 pallies. Yet only cost me 1. I was making invulnerable saves left right and centre heh.

 

The only long range things he had were the lascannon's on the vendetta, the battle cannon and heavy bolters. Everything else brought him into range of my psycannon's, and I kept the dk's shunt move til later to force him to worry about it, kiting his vendetta into range of my psycannon's.

Do you know why he gave you first turn...When you can deploy basicly all your army at mid table with all your psycannons in range and even in cover? Just want to know his rationel behind this. Personaly i would have deployed one unit of troops in a vehicle at the middle of the table to push you back then zoomed away... Interesting though. You need to go to a tournament with that 1,500 army and see how well you do.

Our first game I made him go first. And he reserved everything. Because he's used to playing vs my Logan wing. Which alpha strikes with comviq meltas and drop pods and arjac heh.

 

After we started I suggested it to him. I honestly forgot about it until we had started playing.

I need to start Painting them. Then I might actually take them to a tourny just for the fun of it heh.

Well, I can attest, paladins rock... I played my first Draigowing Yesterday (4th game with the GKs, new dex). It was vs Nids. I lost, but only because of my stupidity and extreme bad rolls (eg 9 St3 (4?) shots from termagants causing 4 wounds on a unit of Paladin.

 

My list was, roughly:

 

Draigo

 

5 Paladins, 2 MC psycannons mix of weapons to allocate wounds

5 Paladins, 2 MC psycannons mix of weapons to allocate wounds

10 GKSS, psybolt, rhino

10 GKSS, psybolt, rhino

Dread, autocannon, NDF, psybolt

DK, teleporter (bad, bad choice, I really needed that incinerator instead)

So, yeah, psycannon missed a lot, armor rolls brought quite a lot of "1s". Oh well. All in all, though, 10 GKSS w/psybolts ae a great value. They just wipe units off the board. Five paladins with allocation can stand a charge from 7 Ymargl genestealers and win.

 

Oh, and HIGH point: the Swarmlord charges 3 paladins, each with 1 wound left: 1 Halberd, 1 halberd+psycannon, 1 Nemesis hammer. He kills them all at Ini 6. The 2 halberd guys strike back at Ini 6, wound once.... Failed 4++ save for the swarmlord... Psychic test for the Force Weapon on 3 dice...

Well I can say that double master-crafted psycannons on paladin squads are disgusting. And that my vindicare has managed to die on one of my first or second turns every damn game.

 

Although tonite I was playing on a ridiculously oversized board and was getting shot to pieces by eldar warwalkers and tau hammerheads/broadsides while I slogged up the field. We won by a ridiculous 'nid outflank onto an objective because it got too late. I wouldn't claim it as a win.

Unlucky to lose to nids, never faced the swarm lord, but have faced a 20 strong gaunt squad in a spore that have assault 3 str 4 guns (so 60 str 4 shots "drop podding in"), with my logan wing these guys would often kill 3-5 terminators, yet my paladin squad's will generally laugh it off thanks to the extra wounds :lol:

 

I would love to MC my psycannons, but only have 15 points spare at 1500 points, and those go to close combat weapons to help with wound allocation shenanigans ;)

Though at 2000 points I have psybolts on my 10 man pally squad, do you think it would be worth master crafting the 4 psycannons instead?

 

I was wondering, do many people deep strike paladin squads in without servo skulls? At 1500 points I just cant fit in anything else (draigo, 15 pallies 1 dk), and over the past 9 games I have deep struck away from or without skulls twice, both times to good effect, but every time I think about deepstriking a 300+ point unit in, I get the shivers.

 

Oh, and should be getting in a game or 2 tomorrow,either the same imperial I've beaten twice or an ork player who has never beaten me at 40k (though he's drawn a few times, which count as wins to him :lol: ).

I hate scatter, it is one of the worst rules in the game after TLOS. Anything I can do to remove scatter from my army is top priority. That said, I too have deep struck units into key positions with good effect ... and have had quite a few of those units wiped out before they could do anything. It is too random in this edition. While the mishap chart is more forgiving, the scatter rule itself is less so. What I would have like to have seen for GK's was a more percise Deep Striking rule, as they are the masters of the teleport assault. What we got is good, though, just not what I think we should have gotten.

Meh. Both games were draws. And my dice rolling sucked on the vehicle damage rolls. Kept rolling 1s and 2s and 3s. First game was vs a 9 kan wall army. I just couldn't kill his kans. And ended with me having a lone pally at turn 6 when it ended neither of us had objectives..second game was 2k points.my imperial friend tried out bane wolves. Which hurt. And my dks died quickly and my Eversor took 4 turns to kill an imobile leman russ. I had 3 wounded pallies. Draigo on 2 wounds and a libby on 1. and the Eversor mile .away...

This is the exact thread I have been searching for....

I want to do an all Terminator force...asking around between the other chapters, and I remembered to look here.

 

I really like your list Nurglez....I think I am going to base mine off of that...

For all the work done before me....

I am working on what I can bring back to GW for some credit to pick this up.....

So far I am about $68 shy of getting it all.

Appreciate the credit. I came up with the rough list prior to the codex being out, actually preordered all of the models for my 2k list before I had even seen the codex! Though, I wouldn't doubt if it others came up with the same ideas as me. I got into 40k because of terminators with psycannons. And since I got rid of my models when I got out of the hobby for a couple of years, it gave me a really good reason to pick up my 4th army since I got back in.

 

Really haven't changed much at all throughout all of this time. I've played 1k, 1.5k, 2k, and 2.5k with the list so far and am 16-1-2 with it so far. My loss was my 3rd game with them against a Coteaz spammed jokearo, psyker lists and some horrendous rolling. Two draws were against two different SM players at 2.5k running with including Nullzone, THSS termies, and a hefty amount of S8+ AP2- weaponry. Planning on giving them a go at a small tournament a couple of cities over next weekend in preparation and practice for Ard Boyz. Not the most competitive GK build by far, but certainly should hold its own on the local scene.

At 2k, I simple lose the librarian, 5 paladins, and the HI because a Greatsword.

Keep your fingers crossed that I don't get hosed at the GW tomorrow.

My plan is to bring in what I have that I am not using, return it and pick up and/or place an order for the army list.

If all goes well, and they take back the merchandise with zero problems, I can pick up the 2k list and have room for extras....

 

How many psycannons come in the terminator box set?

Are there enough or will I have to find extra bits?

Just looking at your list Zagman and i highly recomend getting rid of the falcons. Halberds are MUCH better especially since falcons are only +1 attack. Try and fit as many halberds in as possible. Also MC a few weapons to help with wound allocations.
