Right, I'm very happy with my 1500 point list, but at 2000 points I have an eversor assassin and he's pretty rubbish (knew he would be but thought I'd try him out). So I'm going to replace him with a psyrifle dread.

So for 2000 I'll have draigo, libby, 15 pallies, 2 dreadknights (one with teleporter, greatsword and H incinerator, the other with just a H incinerator) and a psyrifle dread. I'm wary of taking the dread as it will be the only vehicle in my force at 2000 points, so I assume it will attract all the anti vehicle fire power, and here is the question.

Should I take a 3rd stock dreadknight instead of the psyrifle dread? 4 str 8 twin linked shots can be nice, but if i go for the DK I'll have 3 MC's running around, furthering my saturation of multi wound models.

... I'm wary of taking the dread as it will be the only vehicle in my force at 2000 points, so I assume it will attract all the anti vehicle fire power, and here is the question.

On the other hand, multiwound terminators also attract all that anti-vehicle firepower, to try and get past 2+ saves and cause Instant Death. Lascannon and Melta are worth using on your Pallies, so the Dread wouldn't be the most obvious target, especially if you are keeping it at range, and giving you that 24"+ shooting that you currently lack.

(What am I saying? No, spend it on a squad of Jokaero with no guns instead!)

My termies attract anti vehicle fire because I have no tanks and because they are multi would :)

Jokaero have guns too you know :P

Well I'm gonna try using a psyrifle dread for a bit, if it doesn't survive well then I'll get a 3rd DK instead :P

I'm going to try a psy-ammo-loaded assault cannon dread; it's just another psycannon, when you think about it...

Also, I've been itchin for a reason to paint this old metal ven dread. I think with some GK bits this could be his hay day.

I have run a pair of psybolt assault cannon ven dreads in a 1500/2000 point gkt list (although not a dragio-wing) and found that they work very well. essentially being a great big terminator who boosts aiegis and can tie up most any squad for at least a turn or two makes them very useful.

My main issue with the psycannon dread, is that I have psycannons in my army, and would prefer to add something different, like 48 inch str 8 shots, or melta or plasma. My DK's bring heavy incinerators for just that reason

Well I shall give the humble psyrifle dread a try, as soon as I get my forge world chaplain dread glued together (I had one lying around so thought I'd put it to use combined with the aegis defence line autocannons).

Right, here is my mostly blue tacked together rifleman dread :)

Dont know if I will end up using that chassis or a venerable dread one, but its the only dread I have at my home at the moment (apart from a forgeworld nurgle one, which I'm not using for my grey knights). Got a game coming this Friday and probably wont get my dread's back from my friend until after then.

Dread looks great, where are the autocannons from? Are those the defense line ones or whatever?

I have a game tomorrow, 1500pts 2v2, 1hq 1troop required.

Trying to decide between

Draigo, Lib, 15 paladins

Draigo, Lib, 10 paladins, 1 ven psyrifle dread, 1 regular psyrifle dread

will be fighting nids, tau, eldar, but not sure what combination.

yes they are the aegis defence line guns. I'm unsure about if I should put them on proper dread arms or just leave them as they are, I have fond memories of the rifleman mech, so will probably leave them as is ;)

Dunno which list I'd use, 15 pallies draigo and a libby sure are nice, though so are psyrifle dread's (I'm assuming :D ). I'd go for the first list just because the more wounds you have on the table the better :D

Well, I'll give it a try, but I'm sure at some point I will try out a 3rd DK instead of the dread at 2000 points :)

I run the 3 PT Dread Knights at 2k and have found them to be absolutely devastating. two with GS HI, and one with a GS.

After this last weeks worth of games I'm now 21-1-2...

And to comment on the posts above the only game I lost was annihilation...was winning in KPs right until the last paladin was killed. Sometimes you have perfectly valid tactics and the dice simply disagree.

I played my first drago wing game this week. It was only about 1050 points. I used 2x 6 man paladin squads with 2 psycannons and all set up for wound allocation abuse. I played against a Crowe list who had a 10x purifiers with 4 psycannons and rhino, 5x purifiers 2x psycannons and psyback, a venerable psy-rifle dread and a vindicare.

game was spearhead capture and control, I let my opponent go first then deployed as close to him as possible with my objective placed as close as I could. He went first and moved his razor and rhino forward and poped smoke on each, the vindicare hellfire rounded a hammer paladin and the dread hit 4 times but all saves but one on drago were passed. My turn both the razor and rhino fell to psycannon fire as I moved closer to the 10 purifier squad, his next turn not a whole lot happened other then my hammer pally falling to a second vindicare round. my turn 2 saw an almost total obliteration of the 5 man purifiers from my objective sitting unit an the forward unit of paladins shoot and charge the purifiers... wipeing them out to a man, with only 2 men left of the 5 man unit he decided to call it as he had no viable scoring units left.

end result win for drago wing, loss of one paladin and one wound on drago. Thanks all in here for the insperation on how to build and play a drago wing

Heh, it is rather nasty some times :P glad we helped some.

While some people seem to think that because of all the cover saves invulnerable saves aren't all that great, and yes it's only a 5+, but some days I seem to make 70% of my Invulnerable saves, of course others I cant make them to save my life...

I played 2 games recently, bringing my total played to 19. First game I took loads of pictures and made a battle report here, the second was at 2000 and Annihilation.

I won the second game but you'll have to read the report on the first game to see if I won that... ;)

Death company dread's with blood talons are a new worry to me, luckily he only has 1, but those guys are nasty, he chewed through quite a few of my pallies in one round of combat, then my turn I cast might of titan's and double hammer hand :) Boom baby

I ended up playing two games over the week; unfortunatlly they were low point affairs (850 against Dark eldar) and a 1000 point team game (all four of us got 1000 points) The 850 game saw draigo, 5 man pallie squad and *gasp* a 7 man strike squad go against dark eldar stuff. I managed to kill off all eight jet bikes and all of the hellions + named lord. Due to the dark lances (one ship with three of them) I lost the whole palidin squad to that one ship over a few turns, though the highlight was Draigo taking on the last three hellions and lord and dispatching the squad, watching the IC flee, moving to cover and zapping him with the psycic template to finish him off. Of course, the two transports put eleven wounds on draigo the next turn to finish him off (I failed two though he only needed to do one wound since I'd failed two armor saves against the hellions....) So a loss, but it was a lot closer than I thought it was going to be.

Team game was with another grey knights player and we got to count draigo's special rule across the army so there was twenty palidns, draigo, and he had a librarian. We lost pretty much turn one as the other side (Blood Angels and Guard) went first, making a thirty man "blob" unit in the middle with a sanginary priest, librarian, and lord commissar attached. The two valkaries (6 las cannons) and storm raven (assault cannon, multi-melta, missles, hurricane bolters) ate up one of his squads while the other assaulted the blob squad and got bogged down. Oh, what was I doing for the first three turns of the game? Right, nothing. I had one unit and draigo in deep strike reserve while the other five man squad was out-flanking. By the time draigo's unit came in, my partner had two pallies left. The out-flanking unit came on the board the turn that draigo finally died to a combined blood angle assault squad/guard unit assault. Still... it was a test game for an upcoming tourny and yeah, pretty sure I won't play in that one!

3 of my 5 regular opponent's have decent sized tables, and the other 2 and me dont have anywhere to play at all, so I occasionally play at my local GW store. I also sometimes make impulse purchases in store, but I now need to not spend money on gw stuff as I have 2000 points of draigo wing (2500 if I include my mostly assembled redeemer and storm raven) all unpainted, + 2500 of renegade logan wing, and 1500 points of deathguard...

Saying so I have allready pre ordered one of the new pre heresy forge world dread's to use as my new rifleman/psyrifle dread:rolleyes:

You guys would not believe the amount of fire Draigo, Lib and 5 paladins lived through in my 3v2 3000pt vs 3000pt game today. I only had 5 paladins in this game, and they all didn't make it through the game (1000pts per person for the side with 3), I managed to take 3 wounds on Draigo on like the first enemy move, but he lived through the whole game somehow. We ended up winning like 16 kill points to 9 (Me, Tau, IG vs Eldar, Nids), and Draigo and the Paladins reaped a heavy toll on the nids throughout the game. My Psyrifle dread also killed quite a few things, and also managed to make it through till the end, though weaponless.
