Love the figure though, looking amazing. And im curious.. if you look at the post about your rune priest, the last picture of the shoulder pad... is that a hair in the paint on the btm left corner? Wolf hair! :o

:P I think it is!

And Iacton....I still hate you for your ridiculously high quality amazing painting/ converting/ modeling..........if this doesn't do well at GD then the judges are blind and bias!

Thanks! We'll see. I've never gone to Gamesday before, so I'll be happy if I can pick up some kind of trophy.

Most of my wolves are somewhere between greenstuff and basecoated, but here are a couple of things I did last year, and hopefully I'll have a second runepriest painted up closer to Gamesday.

so that's who you are! I've seen your work on DakkaDakka. Excellent stuff :D your work is one of my many favorites! even more so, because your work is original and dynamic, which is hard to pull off these days. Keep up the great work! looking forward for more. I wish I could paint like you, but your right... it takes practice.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Alright, here's my update, later than I wanted but not by much. All told, I may go ahead and build/paint his Assault Cannon prior to Gamesday, as I'm not satisfied with my OSL on the plasma coils, and frankly, if I don't build the thing while I'm motivated, I never will, and another magnet will go unused. :)

Looking at the pictures, I'm going to deepen the shade up by the white dot on the lens... Added to my little list of "cleanups" once the model proper is finished.

I stuck the Sun Wolf on the "shoulder", as that's my great company's emblem, and I wanted to tie him to my army that way, as if it wasn't going to be obvious enough on the battlefield. There's a little bit of knotwork on the top of the shoulder plate, which I forgot to get a shot of.

On to to the claw arm tonight. Thanks for looking!

Alright, another update sooner than I had anticipated, but probably the next-to-last update before finished photos go up. At this point, it's just the claw, banner, and a few little clean ups, and he's done... Well, other than the assault cannon, which I'm thinking I might build and paint in a few weeks.

Not a big update, but thanks for looking!

Seconded. I can't imagine seeing this in person. It's like staring at the sun.

Thirded!!! :) It looks stunning!

Yeah, I don't think you will find any real competition to THAT... the judges would have to be blind t even consider another winner. Gorgeus model... congratulations!

Thanks guys. Some wicked stuff crops up at the GD's though, so I'm certainly not going to expect anything. I'll be pretty surprised/excited if I come away with something. Winning a Daemon has been a dream of mine since about '98. :)

yea it is awsome looking. i have a question u said u magnatized the plasma cannon right(?) how hard is it to do that to say a terminator?

Easier than the dread, in the end. the weight distribution on the cannon made it to where I had to create a sort of "pin" to keep it at the angle I wanted, because of how I rebuilt the arm socket. The claw arm, I just drilled a hole in the tube coming out of the torso, and put a magnet inside the claw arm as I was assembling it. (A word of advice, if you want to play with converting more dynamic dreads, don't ever buy DCCW Arms, buy FW Assault Drill arms, they are so much more fun to build.)

With a terminator, I use the same 1/8" dia. magnets, but the plastic is so light, they just stay how you want them. I've magnetized CMLs as well, but those take a little more foresight and should be done before you glue the torso together.

Real late in the game to try this but a clear plastic for your coils with a rapidly pulsating led underneath would have been epic. I've been messing with them for some terrain pieces.

But, I have to agree with you sir, something does need to happen with the coils. You're glow effect really works, but it's so bright it washes out the definition. I feel odd commenting on something so far beyond my ability, but I know how valuable comments can be.

This'll sound heretical, but when I consider doing glow effects, I run over to privateerpress and stare at some of the warcasters in the Cygnar and Cryx armies. You don't see as much glow effects on GW in-house models, but PP seems to do it a lot more and very successfully, imo.

same here on the odd feeling for commenting on something that is a work of art, however...from what I see, its not that the glow effect needs work but rather you might consider a different color for your plasma coils. Most of you accents around the metal work and such are the same shade of blue that your coil is or at least that is how it appears on the pictures so it dampens the overall glow effect as you see that color all over the model instead of where you want the glow effect to hit.

Hope that helps.

Vrox.

What I ended up doing is washing a bit more green into the verdigris, to move it away from the shade that the coils are. It didn't take much, I just haven't taken any updated pictures yet.

As DV8 told me in the other thread, The coils aren't actually the problem, it's that I took the verdigris too bright in some spots.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone knows Bjorn's GC mark. You could speculate that the fire wolf was his, though, based on the newer codex artwork.

Truly inspirational work, thank you.

I don't believe that Bjorn was ever a Wolf Lord, he went straight from being one of Russ's companions (Wolf Guard/Varangi) to being the first Great Wolf after Russ.

So he wouldn't have had a GC mark.
