Not entirely sure about modeling 'till bits will come, so I'm about to recall how to hold brush in hand right now. Looking through past pages and seeing too much grey, I believe it would be nice to add some colors to this thread, you know. Although I'm not entirely happy with paint scheme, so I'd like to improve it one more time. I believe blue can be deeper, and golden parts are just too shiny for "Serious Infernal Maniacal Bastards" :) we'll see if I can do something about it. I got a terrible week: overloaded with homework, broke up with my girlfriend, got a flue. Against all odds I took some time and tried to paint raptors. Yeah, I believe, paint scheme will stay unchanged (or maybe it's just some problems with lighting or with my camera). Although I prefer the new one anyway - it's much easier to paint NLs this way, than do 3 to 5 layers of blending just for the armor, then 5-6 steps for the golden parts, et cetera et cetera... Between you and Dan, it's a hard thing to fight. The paint work on this guy is absolutely wonderful. Your highlighting is wonderful, and I like how the lightning bolts on the jump-pack help to break up such a large, flat plane. Black primer, necron abyss, regal blue+enchanted blue, highlighting with enchanted blue and then ice blue. Sorry, I use the old paints, so I don't know exactly analogs in the new range. Sorry, it's been a while - couldn't figure out all the things and set time right way. I got some progress on other stuff, but I thought it would be unfair and goofy if I wouldn't post painted raptor squad first. My normal camera is away for a short time, my old one is pretty crappy - so only one picture of the whole squad. I will post every raptor separatly when I'll be able to take better photos. http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/4993/raptors1w.jpg If there would be any rate for lazy painters, I think I'd be level 9, while level 10 is "1 miniature per year". I started this topic almost 1,5 years ago, and I painted only 26 miniatures (excepting 12 orks and 1 PanOc unit) and haven't build even 1k-army, while some other modellists got their 2k-army in few months... that depresses me really... But I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. 4 more to come. I think they will be my next objective to complete. P.S.: I'd like to make some nice themed objective markers for my NLs on 2,5mm bases, but I have no idea of what it could be. Your raptor unit is excellent as well, some very dynamically posed models there. One is just sort of sitting there until I can get my hands on the BRB so I have an idea where I want to go. Well I sort of already do, just not sure how to get there B) EDIT: I like that pose for the Terminator. Looks like a wounded Night Lord turned, planted his sword into the ground and said "SCREW YOU MOTHER******!" while blasting away at his killers. Army pic - yes, as soon as my normal camera makes it's way back home. I really like how lightnings turned out, and I tried to paint some of it also on the red parts. And golden parts are just something I'm totally happy with... the only thing I'm not satisfied with are, probably, lenses. I need more practice. Also played with bases a little bit, so it won't be just flat grey stones... need some improvement still, but I think I'm on the right track. But of course it's interesting for me to convert some 'regular' soldiers for my power armor-army. I aimed for something both 'military' and 'cult' style, tried to represent some kind of self-declared military special forces. Death Korps of Krieg seemed to be the best basis for this concept GW or FW could offer, although it still was far from what I wanted. Funny thing is, these 'at ease' models represent what renegades do in my every battle - barely nothing :D They still need major work though, I want every renegade look a bit more unique and chaotic, so I'll try to add some kind trophies, personal things, try to improve uniform etc. Finally, army pic: http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/788/army51112.jpg About 2200 points here. Out of the frame are not assembled units: Obliterators, two/three HQs, Defiler and mayhaps something else, what makes additional 700-800 pts. Now there are 3 units I painted so far (2 claws and raptor unit), it's about 600 pts or so - not so impressive, looking through past 8 pages. I need to pull myself together, argh... so, I'm not so sure about what comes next - either Daemon Prince, termi-lord, renegades or atramentar. Are those just old raptor jump packs you still had lying around or do you have a method of still acquiring the old ones. I think those are by far the best Jump Packs GW has ever made.
