Gah! I just finished my autocannon havocs... well I suppose it's back to the converting board if I want them to compete. Admittedly, I can't wait to see how you tackle terminators.

Удачи вам в ваших тестах. Я только что закончил мое на этот год, так что я знаю, что ты чувствуешь.

Every single time you post something new, it makes me say swears. They're, like, the best possible swears, though. Promise.

Seriously, never stop. Never surrender. Give them hell until your fingers and eyes bleed from the trauma.

Thanks for all your comments, guys. You really keep me motivated.

Finally, I managed to finish my autocannon-havocs. Took a looong time. I anticipated that I would paint them in 2, maximum - 3 days. But they bite a whole week of my life.

Champion:

And rest of the guys:

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/5127/havoc4.jpg

It was funny to paint them. Tried few tricks, played with gold and metal (the blades with scratches turned out good, I think). I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, folks smile.png

Nevertheless, I have few other things that I would like to share with you. First of all, the very first wip's of my obliterator squad:

http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/7104/obliterator1wip1.jpg

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/4845/obliterator3wip1.jpg

<here must be pics of my concepts, but they're too crappy>

I already wrote many times that I got some good ideas about oblits, blahblahblah-et cetera... well here they are. Honestly old GW oblits are too twisted and bulky - I think you agree with me. So I tried to make my own version and, at the same time, stay close to the original concept. The list of things that obliterators incorporate are:

- Chaos Terminators

- former Tech-Marines -> Tech-Priests

- Cyborgs

- Daemons

- also maybe magicians of some sort.

In the end I hope that I'll unite all this points into one legitimate unit. But only the time will tell...

And the last thing I'd like to share with you today - is my first ever-painted miniature:

http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/8832/1stminiature.jpg

Eat THAT laugh.png

This was actually my second miniature, the first one is lost in the lands of the Dark Gods. I painted it about 4 or 5 years ago, I believe. It represented my own warband called 'the Dark Vanguard' that was dedicated to Slaanesh. Well, mayhaps one day I will build the same exact miniature and paint it the exact same manner to see my progress through years. And yet, maybe not so significant comparison:

right to left: my first painted miniature, my first painted Night Lord, my last painted Night Lord.

Stay tuned,

DV

Terminators and havoc's swords? I don't quite understand :( you mean, how I painted champ's ccw?

Ven, Kol's asking about the badass sword on the champion's back.

Beautiful work though brother and I see those obliterators coming along well. Can't decide which is my favorite though, either the champion or the "casual" looking guy holding an autocannon with one hand.

Ah, the champ's sword is actually just a spear from regular skaven stormvermin.

I'd pick the champ as the favorite. When I painted him I realized how many very nice looking things I put onto this model. And not the least the paint job tuned out to underline every cool piece, what is definitely good :)

Good God. Insanely cool man!

I love you and hate you in equal measure, as your conversions are some of the most stunning work I've ever seen, and I have no chance in hell of ever equalling them.

Keep 'em coming man. I'd love to see what you do with a dreadnought!

Thank you! Though I believe I'm nothing extraordinary, and you (and every other person) can make something the same level or even better. It's just about time and imagination.

Dreadnought - ehm, well... I will definitely make one, but later. Mayhaps July/August.

No worries, I guess it's mainly my deficit of vocabulary and ignorance of grammar sweat.gif

I didn't expect such a massive smack of awesomeness to the face when I saw those Havocs... Wow

I'm not a fan of the Obliterators though, especially the Defiler heads on the backs.

EDIT:

Nah, it's Kol's fault. It's always Kol's fault :P

Battle-Brother Ludovic

Oblits are just very first WIP's, I will add much more details, like facing and ornaments. Or do you mean, they're fail in general? Any advices of how to improve them?

Nah, they're in no way a general fail. And I mean it. The things I don't really like are the massive shield that the second Obliterator has, and the head on the same Obliterator's back. The rest looks good, but will look better when you got eound to painting them :)

  • 1 month later...

AVE DOMINUS NOX, ladies and gentlemen! smile.png

It's been a while since my last update. I beg your pardon for such a big pause: it's the end of this year's study, I'm really overloaded with homework and such. And also I ran out of GS almost a month ago, so I must wait for 'magic sculp' to arrive. So I got nothing particular to post, the progress slowed down greatly - so I decided I will show you something when I get something to show.

Yet, first of all, a unit from my previous post - Obliterators:

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/10/obliterators1wip2.jpg

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/1053/obliterator1wip2.jpg

Eventually everything of ornamentations is finished. Starting paint them tomorrow.

Next is one of two my quazi-heroes, the Warlock:

http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/8934/warlockwip2.jpg

A 3ML sorcerer.

Some chatter:

Originally it was winged crazy mutated Chaos Lord of World Eaters. One night I draw something like this one:

http://th07.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2012/241/5/3/destroyer_1_by_vengord-d5cti5n.jpg

Time has passed, at the beginning he became a random marine without any designation, then turned into NL's ally. Because I'm going to play a campaign with my friend this July and August I needed a second 'hero' (besides the first captain). I chose him and not the ol' apothecary who stayed faceless in my memory. And with this one I imagine a reckless chaotic destroyer in short. But, since I got one Chaos Lord in my army already, I though he could be a sorcerer.
Long story short, I began to work, taking (almost) random bits and putting them together. The wings were abandoned in favor of classic raptor jump pack - I wasn't so sure about my sculpting kung-fu. And I believe I was right.

Next are spawns and the first captain.

Stay tuned,
DV

Ah Ven, you never fail to impress my friend. These guys look stellar, through and through. There's honestly not much criticism for me to make but that Sorcerer is just awesome. I can't wait to see these bad boys painted.
