Yup; RL is important too  I had a month off after the ETL and am only dabbling occasionally atm.

Might have something to show in the next week or so.... motivation dependant :biggrin.:

Real life is for losers... now chain yourself back to that desk and stick a brush somewhere (anywhere, I'm not picky) and get painting!

Feeling motivated yet?

especially the way he does RL, he's not very good at it. :tongue.:

Baby steps... BABY STEPS!!!

Get on with it already. ;)

The Chaplain is calling you to explain your slow progress in this Brother Bobz. Do not expect coffee and biscuits waiting for you in Chamber 42.

I am sure it will look awesome sauce when it is finished but I am expecting to die in 30 years or so due to painting induced illness and it had better be done before then ;)

Dammed near spilled my coffee laughing at you old man ;) only 30 years to go...I've got time up my sleeve :P

Those rockets just plain sucked to paint; I'm working on another Lucius Pod for my Deathwing Dreads now they're done hahaha hahaha hahaha

Good on Ya Brother Elmo watch away ;)

I got quite a bit of positive feedback on my Landraiders in the ETL'14 and was asked by more peeps than here about how I do my white vehicles; although I wrote up a recipe I felt it would be good to do some blow by blow pics to help out.

If nobody minds I'll do a mini tutorial here in my blog, it will help me tremendously with motivation to get my DW army done too.

I'm adding another Lucius Pod that has been sitting unassembled since forever and it seems appropriate to show dealing with white because there is so damned much of it :tongue.:

First up: Spray paint two thin coats of white undercoat all over, then get chainmail or whatever has replaced it and bung it into all the areas you want it, also bung some black into the vent recesses. You do NOT need to be particularly careful at this stage, just keep it away from anything else you intend to not be white.

Next steps in a couple of days once I've done them :D

FYI: my list is going to be Belial, Techmarine w/-PFG, two squads of DW, Two dedicated LRCs, Two Lucius Pods with VenDreads, Two Whirlwind Deathstorm Pods for horde control.

Plenty to keep me busy in the near future...

:biggrin.:

Tutorials are always good and helpful but would have to say more looking forward to seeing the metal beast those missiles will be attached to.

I need to find more motivation as well, just seem to be going back and repainting as apposed to starting on a newly base coated squad.

Looking forward to more updates.

Agree with Brother Rage - Chicken Hawk first!. We have waited patiently for soooo long. You are just cruel!

By the way, is "bung" a technical painting term?? :biggrin.:

Ok, back to the Astra Milliwhatnow forum for me.

Cheers guys, one of the reasons I haven't advanced the Chicken Hawk is the cost and design of a flying base. My hobby cash has been VERY limited for the last year or so due to buying my mini farm. Now that we're a year in and doing ok She Who Must Be Obeyed has loosened the purse strings and I am allowed to spend some money towards this fine hobby of ours :D

Expect me to be more motivated towards it in the near future; I have seen a pretty cool base idea that doesn't require internal supports and major structural work to make it solid so I'm finally in a happy place ;)

I am still going to work on my DW army though, it will get far more table time than Ferdinand

EDIT: Yes Belmo, Bung is a valid painting technique :P

Stobz, I'm new to the forums and am only on page 5 of this thread but I just had to say WOW thanks for sharing this bucket of awesome!

By the Lion... Those power and plasma weapons... Exquisite! They really jump out from the moody look you've achieved with your green, particularly the power fists. I can NOT stop looking at them

I always loved the First Legion but their 'eavy metal (is that still a thing these days??) christmas treatment always put me off really embracing them. Can't belive I didn't think to just do a few things differently... Your work and that of a few others around here has changed my mind. Very recently I posted on here about really wanting to do Dark Angels but not wanting to go green. Forget that! I was stuck looking blinkered at the geedub vision but no moar! NO MOARRRR!!!!

Also, I hope you don't mind but I will be painting my Deathwing pure white like yours. I was rather peeved when I returned to the hobby and saw the DW looking even more beige than before..... Now I have no need to build that White Scars army I always wanted, just cos I want some white space marines! ;)

Right, that's enough gushing from me for now; I'll get on with making my way through your blog!

Hey Void, thanks for the great props and welcome to the Rock :tu:

I'm really glad you like them and are going green; help yourself to my white recipe too, we need moar actual white Deathwing around here as this whole new beige thing seems to have stuck like a splinter.

Hopefully you get some joy out of the next 30ish pages too ;)

Here's stage two: Chainmail has been washed with Badab Black, White and added icons have been 'blacklined' with Brown ink and I've just begun a little tidy up with Ceramite White.

It doesn't look like much but that is all the tedious bits done; now it's tidy him up and get it looking worthy of a Venerable Dreads ride :D

Chaplain: Cheers dude.

Arkley: Dum dum dum Dum da dum Dum da dum.....or something like that :P Answer = maybe.

Ageis: Game on Friday 26th? Saturday's no good for me now :dry.: I added Drizzled into the stage two post, I think it's important to get the jargon right from the outset. This may be my undoing as peeps will see what a fraud I am with my painting techniques
