Thanks buddy. I think I'll probably add some hazard striping on the outer edges just for a bit more detail when the carapace is off.

I'll work on the exterior tonight and finish the pilot off. Here's a pic I took this morning of the Knight just to try and keep some interest in the thread :)

THAT is what I am talking about!

He is look great fella. Black interior makes sense, light absorbing, no reflections from the myriad screens etc but love the look of it. All the little Khornate touches are well done with out being LOOK AT ME,  I AM INTO BLOOD AND SKULLS, but the highlight is the guy on the carapace autocannons.

Also that red, incredibly vivid,

Having done such a lot of research when building my own Knight's cockpit, I always get a bit of a kick out of seeing scratchbuilt/kitbashed cockpits, and yours has been expertly realised, buddy! In fact, the entire Knight is looking fantastic, with the kind of thoughtful conversion touches and kitbashing that are very much a hallmark of your style! Excellent work all around!

The paintjob is also looking excellent already. I am pretty sure you're already on top of this, but might I suggest taking a look at the option of adding a couple of decals? When doing my own Knight, I found that a careful selection of decals can actually serve to tell even more of a story, from unit markings to the battle honors proudly worn by your Knight. The best example I can think of was a combined decal on my Knight showing it was a honorary membler of the Legio Audax. Anyway, stuff like that will add another narrative and visual layer to an already spectacular piece!

Fantastic work, buddy -- as always! :)

Thanks guys,

Thamier, that would be an awesome game. Little far to travel though. ;)

Nighthunters, glad you like it buddy. Like I say the silver just wasn't sitting right with me. I like the effect the Black has given as well. Especially with the carapace on. I can't quite capture the image of the pilot quite right on pics but irl he's easily seen inside as he stands out against the black. Also glad you like the skeleton on the autocannon, there will be another skeleton added elsewhere. Still need to paint all the little trophies I'll be adding. Nothing OTT though.

Kraut, thanks buddy. Glad you like the cockpit, it's been a labour of love to be completely honest, the cockpit needed trimmed down a lot more than I originally thought. Although now I have done this one I should be able to crack out the other two without too much issues. Almost all of the parts are only slightly modified so easily replicated and I'm actually really pleased with how it's all come together. It's fit a lot better than I'd originally planned. I wanted to show it as a really cramped, claustrophobic environ for the pilot.

I am planning on adding decals. I have a few planned to try and break up the larger red panels a little. I still have to finish a lot of the brass trim but I'm enjoying taking my time with him. I figure it's been almost 2 years since I originally built him, what's another couple months? :)

He look's awesome dude! I especially love that you took the time to remove parts of the fleur de lis (ish) trim decorations to make them more arrow shaped. Saying that, the head still has to be my favourite part, It's so very, very cool :D

Nemac

Thanks for noticing that dude, I did the same on the shoulder pads. I wanted it to look a little less Imperial. I may still add some more details to the lower greaves though as I feel a lot of the detail is focused around the head and torso section. I may simply add the same kind of spikes that are around the shoulder pads. Or the aforementioned decals might help

Thanks buddy, the cockpit in this was made from a storm Raven cockpit, land raider engine panel and the magma grapple from a Blood Angels Dread. The screens were mostly from the storm raven as well. And the I just added random wires and gubbins.

So, when I got home from work tonight I wasn't really in the mood for painting but I did want t work on a couple of things.

One of which is building some Havocs or Teeth of Khorne to use in a Chaos Warband. Reading through the Index Apocrypha inspired me to work on a unit that I haven't touched in years. Truth be told most of the Heavy Bolters etc have been folded into the Noise Marine project, so threw some bits together tonight and I'm quite happy so far. Obviously these are very early WIP.

Plan is to have 2xAutocannons, 2xHeavy Bolters, 2missile launchers and then 4 Melta guns. Not a legal unit comp but I'll probably only use a 5 man unit at a time so I can mix and match the weapons.

I also started on the second squad of 'new' Berserkers.

And what could that be over yonder in the distance, growling at me to work on it again...........soon my Lord, very soon.....

You know, I was actually just about to pester you regarding that Angron conversion of yours -- good to see that you're on top of the situation! ;)

The Havocs are looking promising. I especially like the champ with the crazy optics array -- I've actually felt the same spark when looking at the Jes Goodwin Teeth of Khorne sketch in the Index Apocrypha, but I've decided to hold off on building any new Havocs for a while, seeing how I am currently focusing on my World Eaters's 30k incarnation a bit more. So I'll be watching yours take shape with interest!

Cheers folks,

Eldrick, tell me more about the Gilgamesh Campaign?

Kraut, I started building some a long time ago but never really used them. Now with the Traitors Hate/ Legion Warband I have a reason to actually take some. I usually use a Dread in the slot but it'll be nice to have options. When I have used Havocs I've stuck with 4 Melta tank hunters in a Rhino. The Champ has the Combi flamer and power sword/CCW depending on points. They've usually performed pretty well.

As for Angron, I have a couple of units of Chaos Marines to paint, once I've finished them I'll set to work on Big Red, I have a couple of ideas I'd like to try out on him. Then I have another Bloodthirster and another 2 Knights to build, I've also had a load of bits for a Kytan conversion for a while as well. So much to do. Ha

Yeah I love the forward momentum you can get with them. I'll be removing the debri from the feet of the rest of the squad though and using the wire through the base and foot method I used on the last squad. I just used the debris tacked to the bases while I was building them/sorting out poses.

This is freaking awesome, and it's also driving me a bit nuts. That looks like a Raptor head, but I've got a full pair of Raptor sprues sitting here, and...that is not what it is. Where's it come from?

Edit: Oh! Hellbrute head, got it. You're a wizard with these things, man.

Hey Bio,

I can erase this and PM you, but essentially Gilgamesh is an online painting contest between chaos and imperial forces and eldar. I've posted the link. Essentially, you pledge an unpainted unit (or units)and then have a certain amount of time to paint it for the points to count to the war host. Its been really fun, and has kept me motivated between ETLs. Not trying to hijack your thread. Much respect!

We just started a new session and the chaos password is La Ruine. PM me for more details if interested.

Lexington, thanks buddy that is indeed a Helbrute faceplate :tu:

Rednekkboss, thanks buddy. And loot away. ;)

Eldrick, no worrie, thank you for the info. Once I sort out a couple more bits and pieces for paint I'll give you a pm. :tu:

Hydra, thank you, hopefully have a finished update on the Knight by Sunday night. :tu:

Brother Clavero, Thank you. it is basically as I said above just sand and cork and some random bits. Then a couple of dry brushes and a lot of washes. If people are interested I'll be sure to sort out a quick tut when I'm building the other Knights bases. :tu:

Kizzdougs, thanks buddy. I'm really liking how these guys look charging forward. The Raptor legs are a (Chaos?) God send. :) Looking forward to painting the Zerkers as well.

Speaking of painting, today I had a bit of spare time and lots of unpainted Termis. Now I don't have much time left of the day but I have a lot less unpainted Termis.

Most of these still need a couple of paint stages and some trophies etc before they're finished but I'm loving the look of the Terminator Annihilation Force so far.

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/C2D54D17-9707-4CE3-8653-F6E962EBFBAC.jpg

I have another 12 Terminators to paint but those guys will be taking the Black so to speak :) A project for another thread. :tu:

I also added some more basecoats to the first squad of bikes. I've found the extreme leaning poses I had them in weren't too practical for transporting the models to and from games so they're a little more sedate now. I mean they're still massive red murdering psychos on smoke belching motorcycles, they just look a little calmer now. Probably.

And the random spawn I've been using for my aux in Traitor Legions. Again, almost but not quite finished.

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/33835ABF-DD47-4A63-9266-7063DA919409.jpg

I did some more painting on the Knight as well so look out for an update on that tomorrow. I dont want to bombard you with every minute update so will save the pics for when it's finished.

Cheers

:tu:

Awesome update, the Terminator Annihilation Force does look intimidating, quite a lot of terminators you've got there!

Also I like how the Patriarch Claws look painted in red, the whole spawn looks twisted and creepy, which is a great look for a spawn :P!

Those Termies especially are looking great mate - brutal!(well, your stuff always looks brutal!) Also, and this is evidenced with the bikes a lot too, your wide range of parts used doesn't show, they all come together really when painted. Great stuff :tu: Loving your Teeth of Khorne, and the new Berzerkers especially, they are so dynamic.

Also, these other Terminators taking the Black, I am intrigued. Where is this thread?!?! I need my fix :D
