Vairocanum
Wow Deimos looks fantastic painted up! My favorite load out has got to be the axe and sword in the first picture. Definitely looking forward to seeing Typhus completed as well! Thousand Eyes
Regarding the mask conversion it looks great, but don't worry about the tweak of the nose. Demios is a fighter, no doubt he has had his nose broken on countless occasions. The thing must be all over the place as is. Symmetry is not going to happen. Loving the different weapon load outs and all, such tiny magnets. ElDuderino
Elduderino, thanks man, I did have a set of bunny ears on his armour taken from one of the Varanguard helmets but it just didn't feel right. Glad you like. As for the mask I think that had a lot to do with the lighting washing the picture out face on. Â I don't think they'd add much. Bunny ears are like Instant Khornetm, but making something capture the feel without resorting to the most obvious hallmark of the WEs is more impressive IMO. Â Not that there's anything wrong with bunny ears, all my termies have them Biohazard 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234115-biohazards-wip-projects/page/74/#findComment-4802921 Share on other sites
Mechanist
  but don't worry about the tweak of the nose. Demios is a fighter, no doubt he has had his nose broken on countless occasions.  You see to me it's not just the nose but the whole head and eyes, it's particularly noticeable in the second from last picture. However   Mechanist, thanks man and like I say when looking at the model irl it really isn't that noticeable. Looking at it zoomed in on a laptop screen it sticks out quite a bit. As I'll mostly be using my natural eye I'll let it go for now.  I may still revisit it but only when I have a spare head in case I mess it up. Don't change it, it works with the position of the pupils in the eyes and the direction he's looking it works really well. It genuinely looks like he's turned his head and there is some give in the mask like he's looking more left then the mask allows movement for which looks more natural than a perfect alignment. Because you've done something that my Dad once said to me "if you can't disguise a flaw in the way something looks can you make it a feature?" if his head was facing straight forward or to his right it would look odd and out of place especially in the zoomed images. But because he is clearly glaring in the direction of the misalignment it's not longer a misalignment but additional attention to detail and I think works great even at the extremes of a zoomed image increasing the awesomeness of the conversion. Augustus b'Raass
New model looks great. You seem to have mastered the 'relaxed yet menacing' pose. Kudos for using a rare MkV helmet as a trophy! Midnightmare
Holy Hells!! This incarnation of Deimos is the best yet!! Really stellar work mate, honestly my favourite work of yours so far (and lets face it, ALL your work is amazing so it is high praise indeed!) Â That head is is the best part, would worry about GW doing it as yours is better and self made. Massive kudos. Â Also, my fave weapon option is the sword and axe combo. Had to be didn't it :D Though I do like the combi-bolter with the Bloodletter head ornamentation :tu: Biohazard 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234115-biohazards-wip-projects/page/74/#findComment-4802999 Share on other sites

KrautScientist
Alright, buddy, confession time: I actually wasn't perfectly sold on this guy right up to the finish line, probably because I am such a fan of your first model for Deimos. The finished model, however? Pure awesomesauce! He's just amazing! Consider my mind changed ;) Â If I can make two teenie tiny suggestions, though... Â on his left shoulder pad, it seems strange that the rim above the skull would be red -- especially seeing how the entire rim is bronze/brass on the right shoulder pad. I get that you were probably going for some variety in colour there, but it doesn't quite work, in my opinion. the Bloodletter skull on his combi-weapon looks super-rushed -- although maybe that's just the picture. Other than that, fantastic work. I agree with Midnight Runner that the sword and axe combo is the most evocative setup, because - DUH! - of course it would be ;) Â Keep up the amazing work, buddy! I seem to remember there was still an Angron model hiding in the wings...? Biohazard
Thanks for the comments on the face guys. Like I say it's staying until it annoys me enough to buy the bits for a replacement :)  Augustus, thanks for the kind words, relaxed yet menacing is exactly what I was going for. Like at any moment you just feel he could explode into a violent rage. I've had a few MkV helmets kicking about for a while. An opponent at my club has a squad of mkV dark angels so I thought it would work well up there so it was drilled out. :)  Elduderino, I'll post a couple of pics up later tonight next to a standard marine, his previous incarnation and possibly the Abaddon I have built. :tu: Oh and the axe hand comes from the Chaos Manticore kit with the axe head from the AoS Khorne Lord in the starter box  Kraut, some very valid points, truth is I'm really not happy with the Bloodletters skull, I need to work on integrating it into the Bolter a little better. And yeah Im not really feeling the red atop the shoulder pad either. It was intended to break up the brass a little. Initially I was going to paint that skull as bone but thought the brass would show off his status a little more.  Oh and Angron is still waiting in the wings. Things are afoot with him. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234115-biohazards-wip-projects/page/74/#findComment-4803210 Share on other sites

Biohazard
Nemac, thanks buddy. I've been keeping an eye on your progress over on Insta as well. Death Guard are looking awesome. Â Elduderino, ha what can I say? I have proper hobby ADD, I get distracted by the latest 'great' idea I've just had and completely sideline my other projects. Truth be told I'd used him in a couple of games in his previous form (i.e. The one right before this) and he wasn't all that impressive. That was before Traitor Legions and then 8th though. I'm looking forward to using him in the new edition. Especially when we get another Legion Codex and I get some new toys to play with :) As for Angron, no I haven't finished him yet, his pose is basically nailed down but I've yet to finish detailing him. Again this is mostly due to being distracted but also because I kind of lost a little drive on the project and didn't want to throw something half arsed together. I want to make him to the best of my abilities so I will definitely be finishing him soon. Especially as I have a project in mind that he will literally be the centre of. :tu: Â Kizz, cheers buddy. Loving the work on that Blood Angel as well. I'm not a big fan of those new Primaris models but you've definitely worked your magic there. :tu: Â Midnight, I'll let you off bud. I know you're good for it :D Were all settled into our home (caravan) for the week down in North Wales now. Been a bit of a trek but the ciders drowning the memories of the drive down :) I will post updates as soon as I'm home and sorted though. Biohazard
Hushrong, thanks buddy. I'm happy with how he's coming along, I need to touch up the face quite a bit and sort it's final position and obviously there's still quite a bit of painting to do. Still need to decide on a colour for the Scion helmet. I was thinking a dirty white storm trooper style. Â SystemSyn. I haven't forgotten about you! I PROMISE!! :D I'm down in Englandshire this week but I'll sort you out when I come home. Â Thanks for the comments though, the skulls are from various places, I've actually forgotten where the Plaguebearer skull on his shoulder pad comes from? For his trophy poles I actually used cut down spear shafts from the skeleton warrior box. I drilled 6 holes into the gaps where the standard Chaos Termi poles attach then pushed the spears into them. I drilled all the trophies out as well. One of the poles was causing a little issue with fitment of his left shoulder pad and some of the other skulls, so I opted to remove it. The skulls at his waist are from the Bloodsecrator? From AoS, the guy with the big portal thingy. The helmets on the back are based on some of my regular opponents at my club. Just to Noise them up a bit :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234115-biohazards-wip-projects/page/74/#findComment-4813722 Share on other sites
Biohazard
So holidays over and back to the grim reality of work. :( Worked a little on Malek Deimos last night and bar his base and a few touch ups on his weapons/shield I'm gonna call him done. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/A20FF10F-9B38-41D4-8D82-7C535AFBA34D.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/014E9FCB-BF7D-4785-888B-EFB7E05C5022.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/99AA648F-1157-40F0-A6B5-CE15F9C620DF.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/746E9D1F-25AA-4E13-82CD-928C26D7A6D6.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/E62E242D-BDA8-4B58-8D8B-AF779570EEAB.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/7C8267B4-E68B-4697-8507-E0C13706E5E2.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/79D221BD-6E79-4AB4-815B-585F681EAE6D.jpg  While I was away last week I dropped into GW York, really sound guys and had good chat about the way 40k is going and a few of their theories. While I was there I picked up a few things as well.  http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/D2241031-44BD-4675-A234-0618EA95B735.jpg  The Raptors and Berserkers will be kit bashed into a couple of new squads of Zerkers. The Blood Reavers I'll be using some of their bits for some of my Chosen. Mainly the bare arms.  Berserkers should be next to be worked on as I want to get them ready for a local tournament coming up soon.  In other news I will at some point be closing this log unfortunately due to the whole photobucket debacle. As I said elsewhere I've been paying for a while and PB have said they will honour my 3rd party sharing until Dec 2018 I think but I'd rather move to another provider before that and I think this log would be too cumbersome to migrate. Especially since I've already had an issue with PB a few years ago and a lot of my original WIP pics were lost. It was only thanks to Krautscientist and a couple of other folk who had saved some of my images that I could read add parts. Biohazard
Cheers folks, Syn, I will be starting a fresh log, I'll probably just combine all my Chaos into the one place at the same time. Â Elduderino, yeah I'll try and get pictures of all my main conversions. Maybe have a few posts of just completed models and then start fresh from there. Will have to see. I've been messing with a blog (by Blogger) for the last couple of years, and tonight I decided to reupload all my pics in galleries on that blog. This way you can have a blog looking the way you want, and you can link the images to third parties like this forum. (Link in my sig - not a shameless plug, but as an example of how it can be done) - I've been bitter about the threads dying all around me, thanks to dropbox and photo bucket, but for me, I've actually come to think of it as a good think - I've gotten all my pics reorganised into proper galleries, instead of the mess a blog kind of is. Biohazard 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234115-biohazards-wip-projects/page/74/#findComment-4827965 Share on other sites
