Can't really say much that others haven't at this point, yes he looks like a boss. The runes are a great touch. Maybe it's the photography, but the bone and his skin tone being so pale  does make his mask look a bit indistinct from the rest of his face unless you look hard. Could you do the bone colour a little browner?

Cheers folks,

Sockwithaticket, yeah it starting to bug me a little. The bone part is clearly bone irl and I've brought his skin up to almost pure white but I just can't quite get it to show in pics. I've been tempted to strip the head. (It's still seperate) and possibly paint the mask in a gold scheme but I'm not sure if the teeth detail would then be lost a little. I may look at a slightly different skin recipe as well.

Speaking of stripping I've recently discovered the joys of stripping with isopropyl alcohol. The stuffs amazong.

Bio,

I went and dropped about 35$ USD on a foldable SQUARE lightbox on jet.com. Comes with lights and a tripod for your cam. Thing is awesome. I really don't think you need to strip him so much as look into upping the photo game. I'm gonna start a new thread with my iphone pics using the lightbox. Love your feedback, too.

Have you thought about adding successive thinned washes to the lower part of the face using Carronbourg Crimson? Dragging the wash down to where the face meets the mask should give a little definition between the mask and the face. Sort of a bruised/shadowed effect.

Nemac

I would definitely look at light colour for you pictures if that's what's off, I got a pack of daylight bulbs for very little and stuck them in the lamps I use to paint under. Not only has it helped up my painting and make it easier in winter to get stuff done but I then use them for photos. I blagged the lamps, one's and old one of my dad's and the other two where being cleared out from the old office at work. You don't need anything fancy just the bulbs are the important bit.

Ok folks. So I stripped the head back to plastic and also the skulls at his waist as my red primer had clogged some of the finer detail on those. I did a little bit of painting last night and made a start on the first of the 'new' squads of Berserkers. I'll update with some pics when I get home from work tonight.

I had my first proper game of 8th on Friday night against SystemSyns Emperors Children.

Was a fantastic and really bloody game and we couldn't actually tell who won as we were both so caught up in killing each other, which is exactly how I picture a fight between these two Legions. He has some (admittedly better) pics over in his WIP log as well but here's a few pics I managed to take.

My dead pile at the end of turn 3 I believe. :D

A few things are going to take some getting used to. What I will say is Berserkers are absolutely BRUTAL in combat now. They just chew right through units. Really looking forward to what the new Codex holds. I've seen a pic somewhere that mentioned one of the stratagems letting Zerkers fight a THIRD! Time in cc. I'm sure it used 3 command points but that can be very handy.

Like I say will update more tonight. :tu:

They can attack a third time!?!? That's a little bit overkill. Though it'll probably come in handy against horde armies.

It was a fantastic game and a great way to start playing in 8th edition. It really does seem like a lot more fun than 7th.

Yeah it'll be a once per game move to pull but it will help to ensure what ever they kill stays dead I suppose. Ha.

So real life caught up with me last night, so I don't have many pics at all to show.

I did grab some quick shots this morning of the new Skull Champion the rest of the squad have just been basecoated and washed so far but I carried on with this guy. He still needs some highlights on the brass and black areas. The bone also needs finishing, I'm going to switch that Manticore skeleton out for a Gw one though as there is very little detail on it. Then I'll add the barbed wire. I may even have a go at freehanding the Legion logo. I'll be sticking to similar design to Teethgrinders army if any of you remember that? Interestingly enough, the song Teethgrinder by Therapy? was the first song in my random playlist when I started painting this guy :D

As always let me know what you think and I'll try and get some better pics today at some point

Sagentus, cheers man, they do work together pretty well. I was a bit unsure about the mutated pipe on his leg but it's not as obnoxious as I first thought.

The Traitor yeah the bone still needs a lot of work like I said ;)

SystemSyn, thanks man. The faceplate was made using a standard berserker helmet. ( the one with the skull, Arx Death helm im sure it's called) I cut away the lower part and spliced in the rebreather from a blood angel head. I just wanted it to look a little different. It's not as neat as I would have like it but that only shows on the pics zoomed in. I think my eyes are broken in real life :(

Elduderino, thanks man and yeah good spot that man, it's clear to see your eyes are working fine.

Thanks folks, here's some of the pics I promised a couple days ago, I've since painted all the black/silver parts on the rest of the squad so they'll just need some touch ups on the red and a final pass of highlighting. Bases have all been painted as well

Some of you might remember my last version of Malek Deimos, if used a NL Terror head and made a mask similar to the head I've finally settled on albeit a little more bestial, I really like the head and wanted to use it somewhere and the Biker lord felt like the best place to do so seeing as all my Bikers have the NL heads.

Will update with more pics of the Berserkers this afternoon :tu:

Your bezerkers look epic! I might have to borrow the re-breather idea? I dont like the normal skull helmets and you have made them a million times better! I look forward to seeing them finished :)

The Biker also looks great, really like how many skulls you have on your models!

Sagentus, thanks buddy, the skull helm in the box is one of the weaker designs still around. I've just always wanted my Skull Champions to have actual skull helmets, a denotion of rank more than anything.

Eldrick, like the sound of that. I've always thought his arming room would be more like the Wolf Predators from AvP Requiem. Full of trophies and armour/weapons he can pick and choose from.

So I managed to put some more paint on the Berserkers,

Happy enough with how they're coming along. They'll be used in a game this Sunday as I'm going up against some filthy Orkses.
