Geektom - Yes, blue a great spot colour.  Having that & the base really help tie in the whole army, my Iron Warriors, Knight, Mechanicus & Chaos Guards.  While all different it help to show there one force but still individual :D

 

Bio & Hydra - Yes, games like the Daemonkin & Space Wolves I posted about.  They along with many other games been really great.  Both them are part my top games, hard fought & a lot epic moment.  It because of games like them, I like adding those trophies.  So Bronn Tal after that game has a Wolf icon to rep the game.

 

It was just due to a game a while back I didn't enjoy & before that a event I've been to two year ago I just didn't enjoy it that all/only event.  Just remind me why I really enjoy attending Throne of Skulls & local wargaming club tournament here.  Like wise grateful for the great games I've fought, like the game vs Guards last week.

 

So model wise - Dark Mechanicus crew are undercoated & ready for painting during tomorrow.  I'm hopeing to get a bit more work done to the base in the next few moment just trying to get a few thing finish first before I can get time toward my own model.

IP, I'm sorry if this has been answered in the past 30+ pages, but where did you get those barrels for your rhino's? And the powders, did you say they went on after the varnish? I did I misread that (referring to the Wyvern)

And that sounds like a great game! I enjoy when they come down to almost nothing on either side and your just waiting to see who whiffs! :wink:

The part from rhinos are from the Imperial Guard tank upgrade spure, just before the tanks got update. I think you can still get them on the Games Workshop webb site and have cool dozerblade and other parts.

 

Yes I add the forge world weather powder after varnish the models. I use MIG pigment fixer to seal in each layer of weather powder.

 

Dakr mechanicus crew are almost finish. Ill get update on Friday.

Mange to get some time get some photos.  Just it been pretty busy here since Sunday, but I've got Friday as a day off & that going to be set aside getting my model ready for Rapid Fire my local wargaming club event.

I've just got to tidy up the green stuff.  Some then have got sand on them now, but as soon as it Friday this is pretty much the first thing to get done.  I'm also going to make base for my Rhinos that I'd commented about a few update ago.

So as said look like I;ve got Friday as a day off.  So pretty much to do

  • 19x 32mm base, just cut away some green stuff & then get sand added
  • 2x base for my Rhinos (display)
  • Make Line Breaker marker, this will be a Iron Warrior Siege Breacher.  This is just to remind me more than anything else, like I've made the First Blood Marker a while back.
  • Terminator.  Just new Terminator who will join Lord Narach bodyguard unit.  Thinking theme this one around a Apothercary, as seen in my units though out my IW inspired by ADB Talons novels & Graham McNeill Iron Warriors serise.  I might also convert up a Dark Mechanicus marker to carry the Combi Plasma, bit like the Buring brand I done for the mini event I went to back in Sept for my Sorcerer.

Have you done a Killed the warlord marker yet? You've inspired me to do something similar for my own games.

 

Not yet.  This has just been down to time, as this week for exsample been really busy (why I'm take Friday off) & just try get the parts.  But I'm still planning on this & to have the marker ready for Rapid Fire which is in a few week time.

But I've got the part for the Line Breacker (sp?) model & pretty much tomorrow all about getting bulk of my models ready for Rapid Fire.

Update

 

With today off.  I spent a few hours getting the new base sorted & the new 32mm base are cooler, while watch new Mad Max movies & spend some time on Blood Bowl.  Pretty much after spend a few moment working out everything - wasn't able to proper focuse with a lot happen during this week.  I chose not to just cut off the edge of the 25mm base & glue them on, followed by green stuff, etc....

 

Seem, thankful adding all that green stuff to my base to blend the ruin, H beam, etc... & bulk them really paid off.  Pretty much thankful to them, it keep everything I wanted to keep in tack & lot easier to just rip off the plastic 25mm base.  Then just super glue these onto the 32mm base & just add sand useing super glue.

So all 20 Iron Warriors are ready.  Then Christmas time I've got over 75 more Power Armour models to rebase.

 

I was also meant to get some time to get the base done for my Rhinos.  But that will get done on Sunday.

Great news about the bases buddy. Seems a lot less work now. Looking forward to what you do with the rhino bases, are those from the zombie dragon kit?

 

Thanks, yes just happy to gotten the base done.  So few friend saw them today & just all agree was right move.  Then Christmas holidays sort out the other 75+ models.  Just as said this has been somthing I've though about since there release. 

I think the base are left over from the Zombie Dragon kit.

 

Yeah looking good mate. Are you going to add track marks to the bases of the rhinos?

Mange to get the 19 base painted during today & varnish.  I just need to add second layer of Games Workshop water effect just build that up a bit & then paint the edge with Abaddon Black.

This army continues to grow and yet maintains its level of quality.

 

Not sure how you manage it at that speed but bravo IP.

 

Funny you say about the army growing.  Just spent today building new shelfs to help keep everything together & some how it led to more space.  It just allowed me to get all my Iron Warriors, Chaos Guard, Dark Mechanichs, Chaos Knight, Ravenwing & Wolves armies & models on display.

This & work happen in the house is one of the reason October been really busy, then the Ork army I've been painting for my friend & just a lot more happen.

After all that was done.  Start to build the base for Rhinos.  I was meant to done this yesterday but got caught up on Blood Bowl & loss track of time.

Useing Rhinos from other squads just get a idea.  Also been adding a few of the IW transfer to my Chaos Knight & just adding few detail need get done.

Also found the Black Legion lord (middile).  He was painted back in 2001.  Orignaly I was going to get my Black Legion army up & running for Conflict Scotland event in 2002.  They where my 2nd army Warhammer 40,000, the model to the left was my first every conversion.  The Chaos Lord was release that the time & he one my favrout models as commented in this topic a few times & had to buy him on the release.

Then Index Astarties was release & went with Iron Warriors.  Buy the Chaos Lord body from Mail Order along with all the parts to convert up the first model, Lord Abhorred Riddick 17th Novemeber 2001.

I would like to get some Black Legion collected.  It has been somthing I've though about & with the supplament release a while back.  I might get a unit built & painted - Chosen & just go all out on conversion.  See Midnight Runner army log for exsample for really cool Black Legion or see Cristian Bryne that use to be in the White Dwarf few year back.
Saying that, I've got still got some FW Night Lord shoulder pads & possible looking adding a unit to them, again when you see army log like Dan the Daemon, Brother Nihm & Brother Heinrich.

 

But right now to-do list is

 

  • Getting Forge World order sorted by end of this week - Khorne Berzerker upgrade.  Khorne Berzerker Rhino doors.  Renegade upgrade (Wyvren crew).  Grey Knight Tank commander. 
  • 1x Terminator for Rapid Fire theme on a Apothercary, aim get him converted up on Sunday.  Going to use the Grey Knight tank commander helmet

Mate, that is an incredible collection! The sheer amount of stuff is truly staggering, and to think it has all been painted to your usual, very high standard -- NUTS!

Also...............I've got to rebase all those Iron Warriors Power Armour models you seen in the photos........  But that somthing for the future me, when it the Christmas holidays.  I am looking forward to that.

 

There still more to happen, lot more after Call of Chaos.  As said always down to models I like :D  I'm going to try & buy the Chaos Lord model as well.  Just that way unsure how long he will still be in stock being a metal model.  So hopeful get him bought before end of October.

Sound like a hobby challenge there - If your up for it, pretty much use that Lord model & get him painted before Christmas?  Be great to see your take on the Lord model.  Maybe you could make a updated version of Captain Lorimar, like I done with Abhorred Riddick last year with this model.

Quick update

 

Just return from the Warhammer 40,000 open event, only going for yesterday one.  Just return home a few hour ago & as always there was a lot of really cool stuff & great hobby in general.  I always enjoy going to Warhammer World & since there update in May it even better with all the cool display.

 

So stuff that was bought during Friday & yesterday from the event

That my Call of Chaos vows almost sorted.  I've bought the Renegade upgrade to finish the Chaos Guard (end of October) & I've got the World Eater upgrade for my unit of Chosen.  I'm just waiting on the Rhino doors which are being sent out to me.

 

So for the Warhammer 40,000 open day, I chose to go down for the Saturday.  This would allow me to see really great converted armies by the staff who work in Warhammer World.  It always great seen other armies & models, there so many armies that have inspired me though out the years & it all the hard work they put into there force.  Just check any army log on this forum alone.

One idea has came from seen these really cool Salamander Sternguard models.

I'm trying to work out which kits these jaws come from, ether Orc or Lizermen from the Age of Sigmar range.  Just been inspired to convert up a unit of Iron Warriors with these.  Theme wise, they will not orignaly be part of the 5th Grand Company.  It actule going to be from bit background a while back on Forgefane.  A Iron Warrior planet that ended up been over ran by nids which has a small bit in the White Dwarf & a follow on in Armour 13 Lost & the Damned.

Pretty much in Armour 13, it comment how a few Iron Warriors live on after that war.  So I want to make this one of the scatter units who have link up with my 5th Grand Company & now became a part of them.  They have a strong hate toward Nids, pretty much Deathwatch Kill team of Chaos.  Gaming wise they will just be chosen.
Want those jaw parts & going add lot of other heavy Nids trophies onto the models.  Also try adding Battle Damage from that battle vs the nids & never repaired as a reminder & have them heavy bionics as well.

During Saturday I was point out to this Dreadnought.  He really cool & got to talk to Will(? sorry not great with names) who design it.  It was really cool talk to him & comment how the model would look cool in my Iron Warriors force.  So might possible see him added when he release - I never knew he was on pre-release until near the end of the day.

 

As well as the Salamander - I saw this Iron Warriors force.  No idea what this model meant to be gaming wise, but it a really cool conversion & has got me thinking about adding a Kytan Daemon Engine to my army.

As always the Chaos vs Ultramarine diroama is cool.  I saw this about 8 to 9 time during Saturday & always getting a cool idea for future conversion.  Try to spend as much time seen this model as possible during the open day event.

So tomorrow I'm spending the day pretty much recovering from the travel side of things.  But I'm hoping to get some time to build a new Terminator for Rapid Fire which is soon.  Also try get photos sorted over on my photobucket from the event.  Just really tired right now.

Update

 

First up, this was the Melta arm Battle Brother I painted up last week just to get a rough idea how the 32mm base would look on my models before rebase them.  I've really enjoyed converting the model & the Knight part on the base is to rep a few games, like Throne of Skulls March last year when a lone Melta arm Iron Warriors took a Knight from 6 hull point to 1 from two turns of overwatch, after the Knight failed to charge in twice.

Then today been spent recover from the travel side.  I've not been as bad as I've been in the past where it feel like the end of the world.  But it did taken me about 7 hours?  To get both of these models built.  Apothercary theme Iron Warrior terminator & a Dark Mechanicus who carry his Combi Plasma into battle & watch out for the Battle Brother while deal with wounded or geneseed.

Both models will be undercaoted tomorrow & painted the following day for Rapid Fire.  My models before the event, as said it never a event unless your painting led up to it.

Forgot to add in the FW Chaos Guard tank that been a big help toward my Iron Warriors, from Model Masterclas Vol1 book

Also while not Iron Warriors related, I forgot to add I pick up this novel while in Nottingham.  There was a very small amount & so far it been pretty good.  Just since last year I've been wanting to get my Space Wolves on the go again.  I've got a squad of Grey Hunter still in bags/all bitz right now that I'll try get sorted for my Christmas holidays & get my army log for that back up & running to run along side with my Iron Warriors :biggrin.:
