@Kierdale: Cheers! I just had to do that pose, seemed blasphemy not to. In regards to the forearm armour plate, I did indeed have to get a MKIII arm and hollow it out. Took awhile.

@Battle-Brother Ludovic: Cheers Ludovic!

@Vulkan He'Dan: Thanks for the kind words! Next up is the other RT era Land Raider to complete for my vow. Originally was going to spruce it up a bit to be a command tank. However I think I've changed my mind and will in future either get a LR Spartan or Achilles to fulfill that role.

@Rik84: Thanks!

Impressive piece as ever ;)

I can't wait to see the new (ehmmm old style) vehicles!!!

Only one advice, since you are an ambitious hobbist, I allow myself to notice this type of weapon for your squad, because I think that with these shield could be a good combo ;)

I mean it:

logically with the right changes for your IF

@Midnight Runner: Cheers! High praise coming from such an accomplished hobbyist! Got another Land Raider to paint after these guys.

@interkino: I've seen those weapons from the Fantasy Chaos knight sprue used to great effect with Chaos Marines, and they really are beefy. I think that if I ever go back to chaos (sold all of it bar my converted lord that wields a form of Soul Edge from the Soul Caliber series), I'll use those parts for sure, along with lots of gore. Really want to try out the Tamiya Clear Red, as I seen it have some great effects.

Update wise, I know have all the parts for my Huscarl terminators, and am trying to not start it till I've done my last two boarding marines and the next Land Raider. It will be my carrot.

Yes, I've been a little distracted of late. I try and paint something non-power armoured for every power armoured model, just to keep my sanity. So I got distracted by a freebooter kaptin. That and last weekend was free beta for Diablo 3, so that was not good. Hoping to get back int he grove for this weekend. Thanks for your concern guys!

Well, got a little done. Still need to do some details and battle damage. I'm feeling the pressure now to get these done, as I still have a ways to go before I complete my vow. I also 'foolishly' joined in on a Badab War challenge, though this is only for five guys. I have till the end of May to complete that, so May is going to be busy for me I think.

Anyways, here is where I'm at.

They're looking good!

My apologies if you've already explained it elsewhere I the thread (I checked back a few pages but couldn't find anything) but I wondered if you could tell me how you do the weathering/damage on these marines? Paint a small area Chaos Black then Boltgun Metal inside that? Then a Badab Black wash? I did see the comment about a final Sepia Wash.

Cheers!

Yeah for the battle damage I use Charadon Granite, then use a small bit of chainmail for the damage making sure to keep some of the Granite showing. Don't know the equivalents in the new range, but I'm sure it would be easy to do. The Sepia is for the end, going round the granite. Hope that helps!

As always, very nice man. A suggestion though? Possibly tidy up the white areas, the shading is getting away from ya a little, bro. Other than that, awesome!

Now start painting some Sharks, dammit.

Thanks for that 1000heathens, didn't notice that in my haste. Still waiting on some parts for the sharks, but have so many ideas I want to do, and its only a five man squad lol. I'm thinking of just copying exactly the Tactical squad in the Badab War book 2, that is shown on the colour pages. Armour parts in all. Will see how that pans out.

Well, had a good hour of hobby time, so managed to finish off this squad that has been sitting on my desk for the past month. Really happy with how they turned out. As always and c&c most welcome.

First up the chainsword marine.

I did as people suggested, and made the writing a bit more better, by putting vertical lines in it as well. Think it looks alright.

Secondly the Power Sword marine.

For his shield, I wanted a picture of Terra, with a wreath around it. Hope it turned out that way!

Lastly is the group shot I promised.

Thanks for looking, and kicking me to get these guys finished! Next will be another Rogue Trader Land Raider.

Brother Syth, I'm just going to block all your topics. You're too skilled to be down here with us mortals. Go and hang out with the Emperor for a while. "Halt! Who approaches the Golden Throne-- OH! It's you, Brother Syth! I'll inform the Emperor you're here and I'll cancel all his appointments... Of course you take highest priority! He cannot wait to see what you have done this time! He's not busy right now he is just guiding a few million ships through the Warp. He says you take priority."

Outstanding work!

I think you pulled off Terra and the wreath nicely. And the occasional 'up's and 'down's in the text look really good.

Also thanks for explaining about the weathering. I'll give it a try.

@Marshal Sampson of Terra: lol, glad you like them. Cheers!

@WingsOfTheFalcon: Thanks! Glad to have them finished!

@Kierdale: Thanks for the kind words! And no problem, let me know (or see) how you go :tu:

@Midnight Runner: Thanks! Can't wait to have them rampaging around the tabletop. Very pleased how they look together.

@Circus Nurgling: Cheers! Glad I got them right!

Well, little update, fixed and pinned the next Land Raider, and put some gubbins on it. I know the tracks need to be filed down, though I'm waiting till daytime, when teh kids aren't asleep to dremel them down. Any c&c most welcome.
