That's a bunch of seriously gorgeous Boarding Marines you've got there Syth :tu: It's a shame that you don't have any more to do for the vow ;)

Keep up the excellent work!

@ThisisJimmy: Thanks! Words of encouragement keep me motivated to finish these kind of projects.

@Battle-Brother Ludovic: Thanks Ludovic. Probably a good thing I don't have more to do, or I will never finish!

@whitey161: Thanks for the kind words.

@Huberticus: Thanks! I really like the visor effect. If I did have one nitpick for myself, is that I should do the power weapons as well. But I think that is something that I will come back to one day.

I've been lurking this thread for awhile and just wanted to echo what everyone else is saying - great job, hands down. All the little changes and the time taken to get the poses 'just so' really shine. The rich and characterful paint job just adds icing to the cake. This is going to be one major hard core looking army on the field.

And the Land Raiders take me back to Rogue Trader days. Been too long since I've seen one. It's great to see them coming back to life in support of such a worthy army.

@Subtle Discord: Thanks! Your stuff is amazing so I'm glad you like my work. I've spent a lot of effort on these guys and its nice to see that noticed. Thanks for the encouragement, really helps to keep me going!

@IamCaboose: Cheers! Glad you like.

Just finished base coating the LR and now building up the yellow. On such a large surface of a tank, it is my least favourite phase. Wish me luck.

Made a little progress with the Land Raider. Didn't have enough Devlan Mud to do the tank, so used Agrax Earthshade instead. Seemed the same to me, though it did leave it glossy after it dried, which was a little annoying. Anyways, still plugging along at this thing, and trying not to be distracted.

As always any c&c most welcome.

Well, had a productive session. Finished the Land Raider! Which means I only have 5 marines left to do. I need to construct 4 Huscarl Terminators with thunder hammers and storm shields, and of course Rogal Dorn himself.

For the Huscarl's, been playing around with different bits, though might make a mockup of one tomorrow and see how that goes down.

Anyways, here's my last Land Raider. It still is a bit glossy (due to the Agrax Earthshade) so if anyone knows a good brand of matt spray, that would be most helpful.

As always c&c most welcome.

Very nice! That's two of them you've got now, isn't it?

At first I thought the dozer blade on the front was a bit too shiny but looking at it again in the last photo I think it's fine. A product of the lighting in the first picture.

One thing, again a product of the photo angle perhaps, but the IF icon on the front looks like one side (nearest the replacement track section) is lifted/coming away a bit.

I too love all the little details you've put on it and also the OSL on the front light.

You say there are only 5 more marines to do...then what?

Buy more? :P

@Biohazard: Cheers! Thanks for looking!

@Kierdale: Thanks for the kind words! Your right about the lighting, is was a little off for these pictures. As for the Icon for the front, you've got a good eye :) When I glued it down, must have been a little lip on that side that didn't. Didn't really notice it till the painting stage.

As for what's next after these guys? Well, I might chip away at some things, to give me a break from the yellow.

Well had a productive session, and managed to assemble three of my four Huscarls. They still need some touch-ups with some GS, but otherwise they are ready to be primed and painted.

I wanted these marines to be easily identifiable as Huscarls as in the short story Blood Games, Dorn and his Huscarls were immediately identifiable. So I gave these guys something none of my marines have, a cloak. I used the Space Wolf Terminator cloak, as I wanted there to be some prestige to being a Huscarl. I know Dorn himself has a skin cloak, as mentioned in the short story The Lightning King. There is also a picture of Taelos, an Imperial Fist Captain in the Tau Codex, that has a similar animal skin cloak, so there is precedent for it, that and I've always wanted to do it.

I also made sure to give these guys Lysander's shield, as it is very Fisty and ornate, which fits the Huscarls well. To cap it off they have Grey Knight Terminator heads, to give that old feel. The shoulder pads themselves I got from Micro Art Studios, and it was a real pain to be honest. I had to drill out places for the arms to go, and also inadvertently drilled my own finger as well. But with a little blood, sweat and tears, I have these to show you. Hope you like, and any comments welcome.

These look great the only bit that doesnt seem quite right to me is the leg of the pelt obstructing their view, mind you if they are the glory boys then I suppose style > function :)

Love 'em, particularly the guy relaxing with his hammer head-on-the-ground.

That all their cloaks are blowing nicely (and all in the same direction. Important that!) is great.

@Biohazard: Thanks! I know some of the pelts obstruct their view, but I figure these guys are awesome enough to not let that bother them in combat. That and the poses for these guys I wanted them to survey the battlefield with Dorn, waiting to the right moment to mount up in a Land Raider and attack.

@Kierdale: Thanks! He is one of my favs as well.

@Marshal2 Crusaders: Thanks! Sounds like I got it right!

@Reyner: Cheers! Can't wait to start painting these. Though I still not sure what colour to paint the pelts.

Well, completed the last Huscarl I need for the expansion, though I am tempted to make just one more so I can field them in regular games (for the minimum size). This one I gave a Power sword, just cos it looked cool. Probably count as a thunder hammer in game though. The sword is from the Masters of the Chapter set, from the armoury captain I think. The head is from Sicarius which has been in my bits box for a long time. Still, hope you like. Any comments welcome.

Well, I've been a little ill this past week and a bit, so progress has been short. I've nearly finished one Huscarl, though would like some input on the wolf cloak. I haven't painted one since 2nd Ed, so just wanted to know if it looks alright, and whether the colour fits the model.

I'm also thinking of adding some freehand to the cloak, maybe just a gold line, but am not sure how to pull that off. Is it best to start off with black, then a brown base then the gold? Not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyways enough text, here's some pics.

@Battle-Brother Ludovic: Cheers! Appreciate the kind words.

Well finished my first Huscarl Voss. Overall pretty happy with him. Haven't done any freehand on the cloak as of yet, but maybe I will come back to that at a later stage. As always and c&c most welcome.
