the princes all have the armored parts on them idk if that enough to count as the iron hide. they are nurgly so idk about the metallic paint idea though. that doesn't seem to flow with papa N. the deathstrike is his whip. the description for the ability says its usually represented by a whip or something similar so i should be good there haha. and usually this would take me years, but im retardedly competitive haha.

I think Steve built a time machine and is going years in the future to get stuff he finishes 5 to 6 years from now that he has laying around unpainted today. Tzeentch would be proud. :P

As for the Daemon Princes, the description of Iron Hide does mention the power armor the Astartes Daemon Princes are clad in as being that gift, which only one in the picture does not have. As for metal hides looking properly Nurgle, why not paint them with a color of your choice, do chipped metal effects and then paint real rust on the areas you painted to look like exposed metal so it looks like a bullet hit the skin, blasted off the filth and was stopped by the iron epidermis belwo which immediately began to rust? To make real rust you can paint on you take 1 part bleach, 3 parts white vinegar, a small wad of steel wool close and shake to mix, then remove the lid and let sit (outside is best, well ventilated otherwise) for 3 days or so to let the chemical reactions do their thing (if you put the lid on it it will be a rust fountain when you open it due to the built up pressure), and now you have a vinegar scented solution of rust that you know is dry when the smell goes away, leaving actual rust painted on your model. Then you can use SCIENCE!!! to paint your models and no one can tell you that your rust effects do not look realistic either, well they can but then they would be wrong. I will have to get a Plaguebearer out later tonight to show you the effect if you like.

yes please do that sounds interesting. and now that you mention it i do see one guy who is missing his bits, time to go find those extra sprues i have laying around. also shhhh dont tell them my secret. preferably the armor plates and such will suffice so i can experiment on a less important model, cause i do want to try out this stuff, and i have 20-30 plague marines that could use some painting.

Well, as long as the armour bits are represented somehow, I'm happy. Fasha's suggestion seem fine but something less elaborate will also do. I want to look the mini and see some sort of represntation. If there is some armour there, painting it in metal color will help, paint patches of the skin metal will also help, be creative. Just keep in mind you vowed for something that is not very straight fwd to represnt so some effort is expected! Good luck!

The photo's a bit :censored:, but I swear she looks a lot better in person (no sunburn for a start). Vow complete: Counts-as Ahriman, Magistra Aeronwy Gesh.

The hair is actually multicoloured, as suggested - she has streaks from the top down of Incubi Darkness, Warlock Purple, Xereus Purple and Enchanted Blue. I think the red you're seeing is actually the Xereus over the Incubi.

Do I have to make a new vow straight away, or can I think about it for a couple of days? (Doing this all out of my bits box, since I can barely afford to eat right now!)

Sorry for the double post, but I hereby pledge a Chaos Sorcerer with Plasma Pistol, Mark of Tzeentch, Personal Icon, Familiar and Melta Bombs. I also pledge a Chaos Lord with Bolt Pistol, Daemon Weapon, Mark of Tzeentch, Melta Bombs and Personal Icon (Total points for both: Sorcerer; 160, Lord; 155 = 210 points)

I seem to have encountered a problem; a Terminator combi-bolter arm has gone missing. I am fairly confident my cat stole it, which means I could find it tomorrow or in six months, all I can do is watch to see if he is wandering around with it in his mouth. This is not the first time he has stolen my Warhammer, I caught him with an old 2nd edition starter set Grot a few days ago, he seems to like carrying them around and hiding them; if only I could teach him to play and it wouldn't be a problem. Regardless, I am going to see if I have something to use like a loyalist one or barring that something off ebay.

That's too bad. They somehow figure out what's important for you, and then they go for it. Mine learned that I really care about my 40k stuff. Now he kicks it down the table whenever he feels he doesn't get an appropriate amount of attention, food, or both, which is basically the better part of the day.

Good luck for finding the Terminator arm!

Cheers, JT

Sorry for the double post, but I hereby pledge a Chaos Sorcerer with Plasma Pistol, Mark of Tzeentch, Bolt of Change (and other power, but he's only modelled casting one), Personal Icon, Familiar and Melta Bombs. I also pledge a Chaos Lord with Bolt Pistol, Daemon Weapon, Mark of Tzeentch, Melta Bombs and Personal Icon (Total points for both: Sorcerer; 185, Lord; 155 = 235 points)

Looks amazing! Where is the sorcerer`s staff from?

@ Foryou Miko: Those look awesome - can't wait to them done! Just a small note, the psychic power should not count even if you went to thetrouble to model it. This decision has been made early on in order to avoid conflicts as there are powers that cannot possibly be modelled. So please edit the points value of your vow excluding the psychic power. Good luck - just a month to go!

@ Kierdale: This is an amazing squad! They scream pre-Heresy all the way! Congratulations for completing Kierdale!

E TENEBRAE LUX – 9th WEEK UPDATE

This was an excellent week. First of all the total vows pledged for the ETL breached the 200k mark! This is some commitment guys – I’m very happy that the event has such a high involvement. Another interesting feature is that the total vows are now north of 420!!! So despite the 40k 6th Ed. release that unavoidably (and rightly) took much of the attention of the gaming community, the ETL continues strong. Total completions stand at 67k points or 32% of total points pledged. So we are 2/3 down in terms of time and 1/3 down in terms of completions. I believe the completion rate in this last month will climb significantly as new vows will either be moderate in size (as to avoid being left unfinished) or will not be made at all. Interestingly in a week where completions exceeded 13.2k (the highest amount of completions since week 6) the new vows pledged exceeded 11k! Wow!

So two months into it already. Two months come and gone. We are now effectively entering the last month of the event and the stakes are high. Remember: IF BY AUGUST 15TH ANY PARTICIPANT HAS UNFINISHED VOWS THEN ALL HIS/HER PREVIOUS VOWS WILL BE NULLIFIED AND WILL COUNT FOR NOTHING. So make sure you finish up your outstanding projects thus protecting your previous effort!

Now some technicalities about the closing:

On August 15th at 22:00 GMT the ETL ends. That means that by the B&C clock any completions that are submitted after that time will not count towards the total points of your faction. Please make everybody’s life easier and avoid submitting in the nick of time – a discarded completion for just a minute could create unnecessary aggravation and leave people with a sour taste from what should be an enjoyable event. I plan to enforce the firm deadline so yes, 22:01 submissions will be discarded.

The final results will be announced on Sunday, August 19thso I will have time to process all the results, double check everything and present them in an esthetically pleasing manner. This is a big event guys so I will need some time to make sure things are in order. Just a small request: The logistics of ETL are very demanding, so if you guys cross check your status in the tables occasionally and find something that doesn’t match please bring it to my attention so I’ll act on it.

So here’s how things look at the end of week 9:

E TENEBRAE LUX – 9TH WEEK UPDATE
Black Templars 98 40,123 409 15,633 39%
Blood Angels 62 29,533 476 7,741 26%
Dark Angels 82 41,872 511 8,490 20%
Codex Space Marines 56 33,792 603 8,665 26%
Space Wolves 48 32,637 680 11,160 34%
Chaos 54 22,892 424 11,041 48%
Ordos Inquisition 22 6,196 282 4,548 73%
Total 422 207,045 491 67,278 32%
Index Astartes 29 16,405 566 6,385 39%
Liber Astartes 15 9,818 655 1,395 14%
Ultramarines 12 7,569 631 885 12%

Comments:

The Dark Angels have the lowest completion rate at 20%. Although at face value this might look as a bad thing it also means that there is huge potential in the coming month to flood the ETL with completions driving completion rate towards the average and gaining significant momentum towards the finish line. The opposite of course is also possible so now guys is the moment of truth: Can the DAs see this through and emerge victorious? We’ll see…

The Wolves with 1/3 of their vowed points done, which translates to more than 11k pts, they are now second. However they do have some mega vows in the making and I’m sure they have not said their last word yet. The important thing here is tenacity. You guys really have to fight against fatigue and keep delivering because this is it: Just one month to go and you’ve done admirably well so far! Keep it up!

Blood Angels are struggling to keep up despite some serious completions this week. They have the lowest score so far (except the Ordos) at 7.7k pts despite having more than ¼ of their vowed points done. However there is the same principle as with the DAs here: the last month could see a sharp convergence to the ETL average completion rate thus having significant upping to their points’ total. Nevertheless this’d better start soon because time is now the primary parameter. Just to put things to perspective, in order to get to the BTs level of completed points the BAs should aim to convincingly beat the 50% completion rate. Good luck!

Black Templars had the best week any forum had since the beginning of the ETL. They completed in excess of 5.5k pts solidifying their lead at more than 15.5k completed pts so far. Furthermore they re-vowed 3.8k pts which means they still are intent of growing this sum even more. Their completion rate approaches 40% beating the average of the ETL, leading the way to the finish line. Is there anyone that can stand in their way? Let’s see.

Codex Forums added 860 pts to their total and it appears that it’s getting its engines started. With Arizona’s contribution reaching an end, it’s up to the rest to carry on delivering. Some of the work I’ve seen is exquisite so I believe the wait is worth it! Keep in mind guys there is only one month to go! Lets see if you can turn this around – you have the resources to do it – and with more than ¼ of your total vowed pts done you have a very good starting point. Just double it and you might be leading this!

Chaos carried on its great performance driving their completion rate even higher to 48% and total completed pts to above 11k! Wow! Well done – nothing more to say! The 2.8k completions this week were replenished with another 2.7k new vows, so the drive is still very strong. And still there are some seriously large vows in the pipeline that could (if supported by smaller vows as is the case so far) turn the game to their advantage. It appears the Dark Gods are looking favorably to their champions!

Ordos Inquisition continue to drive their completion rate higher reaching a record of 73%! The commitment that this group is showing coupled by some seriously nice models (not to mention RedemptionNL’s LR with real lights!!!!) is awe inspiring! Continue the Emperor’s good work guys – you are setting the standards on commitment!

Until the next weekly update, farewell and good luck to all!

Fixed my points values. ^^; losing the power really hurt.

Also, the Sorcerer's staff is from the Empire Wizard box, but I can't remember what I used for the haft. Just some bits, lol. The Deathscreamer is made from a TK halberd, a TK charioteer's spear, and the blade off the butt of a kroot rifle.

princes will be done by saturday, sunday at the latest, i actually just grabbed another prince that already had armor on it instead of trying to dig through my bits box. the joys of having stupid amounts of models. but there is a point to me posting here. pretty much once this vow is done im going to be starting on my massive pile of terminators. normally they run around as champions because hey i love extra attacks. but in order to model that what should i do? i was thinking some kind of chaos equivalent to the crux terminatus (SP?) buuut i dont have a billion chaos symbols laying around haha. their shoulder pads dont really provide space to put symbols on. except for a few of them that dont have the super fancy pads. anyone have any ideas? im hoping to get about thirty of them done before the deadline but im kinda getting married in two weeks so that just might take priority for a bit :P

ALSO COME ON GUYS WE WERE IN THE LEAD WE CANT LET THE SPRAY PAINT BLACK THEN APPLY WHITE GUYS BEAT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trophies, both the cup and the fancy standing kind. Make sure they are marked #1. Also, hook up an mp3 player with Queen on continuous loop. Either that or give them all role playing books. Have them with little Olympic gold metals striking a victorious pose. If your sculpting talents are up to it, putty up the faces of famous Olympic gold medalists.

More seriously, the old Terminators had their champions determined by big tusks like the combi-flamer armed one second from the left in the picture below. You could also have your champions marked with various mutations such as flaming skulls, horns, tails, or other non-game affecting blessings, to show their status. Another idea might be to grant them impressive kills of Imperial Champions, like a dead Emperor's Champion, a murdered chaplain, a Grey Knight Terminator dismembered, or so forth to sho just how much of a champion of Chaos they really are. Or you could spell it out and write "CHAMPION" on each of their shoulder pads.

I differentiate Terminator Champions from Terminators by substituting gold where there normally would be bronze. I didn't want to use trophy racks as markers, just a bit too urbane for such a job. Since my Lords and Sorcerers are the only ones that use gold in lieu of bronze in the rest of the army, using gold for Terminator Champs fit with the theme and works out well enough.

How the hell are we meant to top 40,000 points when there's only ten of us? ><

If you mean the total number pledged by the Templars, look over at their completion rate. All those pledged points are worthless if they can't even get to within a stone's throw of finishing. If all "ten" of us finish all vows before the end of this thing and max out Chaos's points and no one else manages a comparable number, then we take this thing no matter how many more pledged points there were for those that failed to finish for anyone else. Talk, after all, is cheap.

Sadly, I've got nothing left to paint that wasn't painted once before already, so a follow-on vow from me isn't forthcoming. B)
