The initial construction of the Poxwalkers is done. They will need a bunch of greenstuff to fill gaps, make gribblies and such.

I'm hoping to eventually do a bunch of these guys. Still have Eldar and plenty of other bits to add some variety.  Also worked on a noise marine. Its meant to be a Sonic Blaster. It looks a little big. Cool, but big.  What do you think?

you really have gone to town with the pox walkers. It is a great idea to use up spare bits from old armies and they look great. I cant wait until they have some gs on them.

I really like the sonic weapon and although its a little on the large side would fit right into a EC army :)

I don't want a ton of "repeats" in my units. I might pick up the small box to add on to the one's I got in the starter set, but my plan is to convert most of the ones I have. Long range goal is 60-70.

The sonic weapon is a bit big, but I have 10 of those and I'm not sure what else to do with them.  I'll probably stick with it. After looking at other noise marines, its not too terribly bulky. Thinking about trimming up the bit under the forearm, maybe adding a couple hoses , then Slaaneshifying it a bit.

Finally, the sculpting has begun.  I figure I'm about 3-5 days behind where I wanted to be right now, so its time to throw some wood on the fire.  These guys are mostly done, but I'll probably do a little more detailing on some of them.

I still have 4 more to start, which I hope to get to over the next couple days.  Cheers Ya'll!

Man, those Firewarrior-based Poxwalkers are just incredible! The other guys are neat too, don't get me wrong. But those Tau? That's some next level stuff right there -- such an excellent idea!

I agree it really does open up the possibilities! I really need to motor my way through my Khorne army (not allowed anything new until nearly all of its complete) then I will probably get a DG detatchment so i can join in with nurgles conversions :D

The Poxwalkers are done...well, sort of. The sculpting and construction is done, now its on to basing and painting.  About a week behind my schedule, but finishing on time is achievable. Here's the gang.  First up, Pox Cultists and Guardsmen.

Next we have the poor unfortunates of the Tau Empire.

And the two squabbling Pox Orks.....

Hoping to get them based and primed today. There's a chance the painting could start, at least a base coat.

Cheers Ya'll!

Thanks, ya'll. They are a lot of fun to make, especially when you have a ridiculous number of bits and old models laying around.  The grand plan will be to convert a few here and there as a standing side project to slowly build the hoard. I'm looking forward to doing a couple marines and some Eldar. But definitely more Orks, cultists and regular humans.... maybe even some skaven and lord knows what else. Love those Orks.

The Poxwalkers are DONE!  And with a day or so to spare. Whew!

Thanks! Its been fun making them from different races. I think I'm going to keep the conversions going as a side project while I try to work through my painting backlog over the next few months. So a Poxwalker or two will be popping up every so often. Next on deck for them: Space Marine Poxies.

Otherwise, I'm going to finish up a few vehicles that are very close to done (as in one good painting session of details away) Ms Charlotte, the Warpsmith and various traitors. As well as updating/upgrading my Raptors to be more inline for 8th edition (as well as a camo scheme)... just in case I actually get to play the game. ;)

Your Pox Walkers have been the hit of the Augustus Challenge for me. Just incredible stuff.

Thanks! I really appreciate it, especially with so much cool stuff in the challenge.  Definitely lots of fun to convert and a great way to use stuff from the bitz boxes.

  • 2 weeks later...

Working on my painting backlog during the hurricane prep (and the hurricane- until I lose power)  I have 4 traitor guard Leman Russ Tanks that all need some sort of detailing and finishing.  First up was the magnetized spare weapons.

For this guy, I finished up the sponsons, added a lascannon, some weathering and dinging, etc.  But this guy is DONE. 3 more to go.

Thanks! I'm an old scale modeller, so I really enjoy painting vehicles.  Playing around with weathering powders and the ubiquitous dry brushing.  Its not as intense as something I'd do for a model show, but for gaming its not too complicated and the end result is nice.

One of the best camo schemes I've seen on a Russ or any 40k vehicle for that matter.

Thanks, man!  I have to admit to stealing the pattern from a German WW2 uniform and changing the colors around.  It was fairly time consuming, but the effect is worth it.
