Just having a quiet bevie safe in the knowledge space hulk is on its way and Everton have their first win of the season.

Tomorrow I'm off to visit the folks and get access to a real computer. Then I can post up some delicious morsels of Raptor juice. Also got a campaign that my group is running to report. Obviously I can't share with you the xenos participants armys but I have some black legion stuff to show what the 5th is up against.

Squad IX "God Killers"

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g473/Adavers/057_zps407d0fb7.jpg

*******Vox transmission. Captain Chrysaetos to 1st sergeant Maodes Karib*******

"I think you owe Aggamon's lads your apologies Sergeant"

":censored:  that warhound had us then, were the hell did that come from?"

"No matter sergeant, if it was not for those.... What's the term you use?... Waist of the Primarchs seed, then you and 1st squad would have been toe jam to the behemoth"

"I Captain your right, you can tell them I stand corrected, damn it they're Raptors now Captain, Corax's teeth that was close"

"No need, Ive included them in the link. Thought it might be best them hearing it straight from your mouth...."

"Ha Captain you fight dirty"

"That's why you love me so Karib?"

"I Captain. Aggamon your boys done good, but tell them not to rest on their laurels..... We aren't out of this :censored: fest yet"

Nathaniel Aggamon: 5th Company Marksman

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g473/Adavers/062_zps128556e9.jpg

Unique to the Raptors Chapter is the position of Company Marksman. Renowned galaxy wide for their uncanny ability to produce the finest marksmen, the Raptors hold great esteem for those brethren who take the art of marksmanship to the next level. Rumoured to be the equal of Lias Issodon himself, Nathaniel Aggamon has a kill record to envy the most die hard Vindicare Assassin. With over 150 confirmed vermilion threat level eliminations, Aggamon has proved invaluable to 5th Company and Captain Chrysaetos affords him far more freedom than any other member of his company.

Prior to and during the Badab war, Aggamon operated as a lone sniper. Exchanging his MK VII plate for the lighter scout armour allowing him to infiltrate the most arduous battle zone, undetected. It was in this role he received his highest honours, gaining the Aquilla Terminanatus 3 times for the assassinations of the Chaos Champion Cuhthraxior the Plaguemoth, Tau Ethereal Aun O'mon and the Ork War Boss "The Beast of Galaeron".

Yet with the current rebuilding of the 5th, Chrysaetos has utilised Aggamon as a mentor to the newer recruits, ensuring that the new blood can gain from the skills and battlefield acumen of his most trusted marksman. With the majority of 5th Company's armour being destroyed at Badab, Chrysaetos has had to maximise each and every resource at his disposal. The best shots of the recently inducted Raptors have been gathered in squad IX and tasked with destroying any serious armour threats. Armed with his adapted MKIII Hunter pattern bolter, Aggamon has exchanged his standard shells for the newly developed "Doom Seeker" ammunition. This allows the trajectory of his own inch perfect shots to be relayed through his enhanced data vox unit to the members of his squad. In result of this many an enemy tank commander's last sight has been the slight crack appearing  in their view screen before their life has been expunged in a searing blast of righteous and deadly accurate las cannon fire.

"Revenant" The Ghost of Badab, Land Raider Redeemer, Captain Chrysaetos' Personal Command Vehicle

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g473/Adavers/054_zps6281667a.jpg

Of the 6 Land Raiders in 5th Company's armoury only 2 survived the Badab War. The venerable Helios pattern "Tyrant's Demise" and the Redeemer Pattern "Furos". Captain Chrysartos' former command vehicle, the Prometheus pattern "Dominatus" was destroyed by the Renegade Knight "Ultima Desecratum" cut into two halves by its reaper chainsword. Although the Raptors managed to retrieve the remains of this company relic, it was beyond the skills of Techmarine Bardo to repair.

In transit to the Reductus Sector Bardo under the instruction of his beloved Captain was tasked with modifying the "Furor" to be able to (in his captains words) withstand the fury of the gates of hell. Bardo reinforced the redeemer's already substantial armour with the side armour panels of the "Dominatus". Upon completion of this task the "Furor's" machine spirit would not spark. Beside himself with despair Bardo approached Chaplain Sholo and confided that he felt he had denied his company and captain of another of the sacred machines. Sholo went to the hallowed vehicle and upon seeing its brutal majesty, suggested a new name be assigned to this mighty bastion.

"It mourns Dominatus Bardo as 5th mourns its lost brothers, It is no longer a weapon of fury but a ghost of vengeance, a revenant if you will".

"Revenant, My Chaplain, If the Omnisiah wills"

Upon this Bardo carried out the ritual of awakening intoning the name Revenant in replace of Furor.

It is said by both veterans and newcomers of 5th Company alike that on the 67th day of transition to the Reductus Sector, a pronounced, long and growling roar was felt by each member on-board the strike cruiser "Eyries Lament". A sound of unremitting fury so deep that both primary and secondary hearts of the Astartes skipped a beat. This sound heralded the awakening of the machine spirit "Revenant" The Ghost of Badab.

"Storm Caller": Whirlwind

This thing was called Storm Caller before Games Workshop abused the word to the high heavens.

  • Storm Raven = A raven hides in a storm
  • Storm Talon = I don't see no storm having birdy feet now do you?
  • Storm Wolf, Storm Fang & Storm Claw = Utter gibberish
  • Storm Squad = Storm This .I..

No No No.This machine is called "Storm Caller" because it literally calls down a storm of nasty business on the heads of the enemy of mankind. Simples

Both these tanks look better in real life. The subtle green edge highlights and the weathering powders are not done justice by my shoddy photographs. Also I will need to get a technical graphic pen to scribble their names on the honour scrolls.

Chaplain Sholo has got himself a Jumpack!!!

OK I know this will most likely cause the most debate amongst the frater. I went with the DE heads in the end my reasoning was as follows.....

  • Can I be arsed sculpting 20+ Modified heads = No
  • Does this look cool as :censored:  = Yes

Still need to do the dull coat and bases before I post the rest of the squad. I am really happy with them. I was thinking about doing the soft armour a lighter brown but felt that this would make the olive drab even darker, making the faces seem dull. Also thought about camo but it made them look to muddled.

Note that the scouts do not carry full Raptor insgnia on their Left shoulder as stated in the codex (see I have read the damned thing....)

Pennance Vow ETL III

Well since I failed my ETL Vow and Uprising challenged me to complete a traitor if the Chaos forums beat the Angels of death, I need to do this guy. He will be a former Raptor gone rogue and now operating as a Champion of Nurgle. He will obviously not be a member of the mighty 5th company but someone who turned long ago, Sorry for the bad pic though.

Sorry It has taken me so long to reply, life has been really busy since I have finished Uni. Here we go anyway.

Thorn: Yes you should

Slipstreams: Yes I have definitely thought about using the MKIV Recon squad. I was thinking of giving them hooded heads instead and making them into a crack sniper squad and bodyguard for Lias Issodon when I finally get round to making him.

Argent Aquilla: Cheers Bro and thanks for your support.

Batu: I would love to do a group shot but as you can see I struggle taking a picture of a 5 man squad never mind a whole army. I have tried in the past and will keep trying. Thanks for the kind words.

Sockwithaticket: Cheers my Friend. I have put the bikes back as I need to boost up my troops so plan on adding a few scout squads. Also the amount of work that went into cleaning, filling and drilling has really put me off starting them....

Seathal: Thanks. I look forward to seeing more of your ace Raptors Taskforce

Brother Captain Arkhan: First of my respect for you has increased ten fold. How on earth you managed to paint all those bikes and keep sane I have no idea. Any tips to help motivate me to get through the squad? Your right about the axe, I plan to shorten it, when I get round to doing him.

Midnight Runner: If Midnight Runner is a Bluenose then the galaxy is a marvellous place after all!!

Lokkorex: Cheers Bro, Hope the above suffices for now :smile.:

Biohazard: OK im on it Brother!

Dorns Fist & DSS7: Alright alright give it a rest lads! :laugh.: Thanks for the encouragement anyway.

Such an epic update, great work mate. I have got to admit I love your army as you have the feel of them so right. Hard to a pick a fave out of all these, I always have a soft spot for 'Raiders and yours is no exception, and your Devs ooze character, but the lenses on the lascannons and the wirlie (especially as it is so large) you have really nailed. Any chance of a recipe, YOU CORPSE EMPEROR WORSHIPING LOYALIST DOG!!!! (sorry, that was my Daemon Prince speaking, he is hungry for your scouts....)

Ahh, brain explosion, so much Raptor-y goodness. I love seeing vehicles with FW bits, the Redeemer and Hyperios are no exceptions.

For your scouts, have you considered using the Tempestus Scions heads? I've seen a couple of conversions using them and they look great and seem to fit perfectly too without giving the scouts the hunchback look that their regular heads do. Plus they have that spec. ops. feel that goes well with Raptors. What you've done is wonderfully painted, I just can't help but feel it's a little to ostentatious for a chapter like the Raptors.

Loving the  Shadow Hunters, marines just look so right with combat weapons.

Fair enough about the bikes. I've started to get that way about stuff that needs a lot of prep work, especially as there's so much that's ready to paint without all the cutting, filing, swearing and bleeding.

Come back to us soon!

Excellent work here brother. The pokes and humor amuse me to no end. Honestly I like the scourge heads for the scouts. Makes them highly unique and interesting. I also liek how instead of the survivors honoring their fallen from Badab with something grandiose or eccentric they mourn it. Much more befitting in my opinion.

Hahahahaha how good it feels to finally remove that badge of shame! I can start posting again without feeling like a Nincompoop. True to my word I will not flash all my old honour badges ever again. One failure overshadows all victory. The only badge I need is that of my Founding Legion.

Watch out for The Revenants though this year. The spooky space goths are going to be supporting my Raptors on the Beliphium Front.

Happy New Year!
