The honoured sons of the lion continue to forge ahead on their path to redemption despite the turmoil and conflict they had to face each day. A total of 82 battle brothers set out on their journey and so far 53 have remained true to their fate!

 

Will they continue to redeem themselves?

 

Will others join them on the ir own Path to Redemption?

 

Can those who strayed from their path return to be doubly redeemed?

 

The month of october will be a true test of loyalty for the sons of Johnson. Let us see if we can do better than the month before. Let us keep the faith in our primarch and our brothers in the legion. Let us surge until the sword is reforged!

 

As we move ahead with this competition it falls to me to thank everyone for their participation, regardless of whether you completed your oath or not. The ultimate goal is for everyone to try and complete something that you have had left behind for a while or motivate you to start something new. The participation has been fantastic so far and let us see if we can beter ourselves.

 

Participation Rules Updates and Reminders

 

Earning your Black Pearl

You must receive a single white pearl for each of the six months by completing your oaths each month in order to be eligible for the Black pearl to be awarded. This means that only those who participated from the beginning and completed their oaths each month will be able to strive for the Black Pearl.

 

.... but...... there is always a but... or a perhaps....!

 

Failed September Oaths & the Black Pearl

Those who were unable to keep to their Paths of redemption do still have a chance of earning their Black Pearl. These Unredeemed brethren will have to complete three tasks in order to return to their Path of Redemption:

1. Complete their September oath before the end of October.

2. Complete a separate oath for October, however small by the end of October.

3. Complete a third, small additional task by the end of November. This task will be revealed to you at the end of October once you have completed your September and October oaths of moment.

 

Newcomers who begin their oaths in October

Although you will not have been able to earn white pearl for the month of September as you are participating as a newcomer, you may still earn the September white pearl and also the much sought after Black Pearl. You will need to complete three task in order to be able to earn this final prize:

1. Complete one oath for October.

2. Complete one oath for November.

If you fail your October or November oaths you will not have a second chance similar to those who failed the September oaths.

3. Complete a third, small additional task by the end of December. This task will be revealed to you at the end of November once you have completed your October and November oaths of moment.

 

This will earn you the September White Pearl as wellas those for October and November. If you then keep it up for another three months (ecember, january & February) you will be eligible for the sought after Black Pearl!

Anyone who has completed their oath/vow made in October may display the following banner or medallion. The single white pearl denotes the completion of your vow for October. If you have completed one vow and have made a second oath you are still entitled to wear this banner/medallion but if you fail to keep any of the subsequent vows by the end of the month you must give it up. This banner is for those who have completed an oath in October having started their Path to Redemption for the first time in October or having failed in September and succeeded in October.

Apologies to all for the delay in re-opening the thread for oaths. Despite captain Semper's fantastic help in creating the tables (I might award him the title "venerable master of tables in addition to his honorific of Master of Recruits!! :P ) I had to fight a few demons to get this done.

 

Thanks to everyone for their support and let us see if we can continue to walk the path of redemption and drag everyone else along with us.

It appears i jumped the gun a bit yesterday:

 

For October, i shall vow to complete the AoBR tactical squad in the livery of the Dark Angels 5th Company. (195pts?)

 

So that's 10 men with a flamer and missile launcher, and the converted sarge who's got a power sword. At current they're up to the point of being DA green with little else done. Hopefully this will be my first "100% complete" tactical squad, including all relevant badges and squad markings (freehanded for flavour).

 

I'll be sharing my progress here in my WIP thread.

Although you will not be ablke to earn white pearl for the month of September as you are participating as a newcomer, you may still be eligible to earn the much sought after Black Pearl. You will need to complete three task in order to be able to earn this final prize:

1. Complete one oath per month for the five remaining months.

2. If you fail your October or November oaths you will not have a second chance similar to those who failed the September oaths.

3. Complete a third, small additional task by the end of November. This task will be revealed to you at the end of December once you have completed your September and October oaths of moment.

 

I'm confused on Number 3 :P

This squad is armed with Storm Bolters, a Chainfist, Powerfist an Assault Cannon and the Sergeant had a Power Sword. The points cost to this unit is 250 pts. This squad will be painted by October 31, 2012. Failure to do so will lead me off the Path of Redemption, and down the road to ruin.

The idea of this event is to get as many people as possible completing their half done miniatures that have been languishing in their cupboards as well as start any new projects they had in mind. The ultimate aim is for as many brothers as possible to complete at least one oath but also to excite them towards earning the single Black pearl. To do this one has to complete an oath in each of the six months.

 

If a newcomer stumbles upon the competition in October and hence has missed the chance to complete an oath in September... they won't be ultimately be eligible for the Black pearl. So to allow them to "back" earn the September White Pearl, they have to complete a minimum of five oaths, one for each month as usual but also a separate mission/task that would be revelaed in December by the Inner Circle.... might be to paint a specific mini or some such thing.... we like secrets.... but others may simply opt to go for just the five white pearls... :)

I, Wraithwing, vow to complete a combat squad of Dark Vengeance Tactical Marines, with Plasma Pistol and Plasma Gun, worth 120 pts (I think, don't have my Codex handy) before the end of October. Here they are, primed, base coated and ready to go:

These guys have been patiently waiting for October to start for a few days now! I'm aiming to complete a serious of vows in October, but want to start small to see how I get on.

++OCTOBER VOW COMPLETE++

I'm really happy with these guys, and consider them to be some of the best rank and file Dark Angels I've ever done (not trying to sound bigheaded, just really proud of these guys!). The miniatures lend themselves so well to painting to be honest.

Still undecided as to what to do about Squad numbers. I've used a single '2' from the Marine transfer sheet, as it's mostly small enough to fit on the raised Tactical badge, as shown on the beaky marine. I need to get some microsol on it, as it sits slightly proud at the top.

Now to devote some thought to a second October vow. The rest of the squad, or something different?
