That army shot looks amazing. You've accomplished so much! Inspiring as always, Reclusiarch.

Cheers! Just don't look too close and spot the repairs :wallbash:

Great work for last year, in particular getting those Space Hulk Termies done! Gorgeous models and it'll be nice for you to get them on a table!

That's the main reason I painted them as I went through a spell using them quite a bit

Its just a different sort of camouflage, painting to protect from your allies, not your enemies...

Oi! I paint BA not FT or FE! :tongue.:

I challenge you to get that Cerberus done sooner, rather than later. It's been on your to-do lst for years!

February

I, Reclusiarch Jolemai , embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of February pledge to complete 4x Legion of the Damned, 1x Tactical Marine by month's end.

To do:

~ Upgrade shoulders on bolter Marines, change arm on Multi-melta, magnetise wrist on Sergeant.

~ Cork base the LotD on 32s

~ Move all to completion

One of my miscellaneous Marines, just because. Going for Tactical rather than Devastator, also just because.

Air Defence Command Platform

Had a window to do something small and this was knocking around:

Whilst there have been no rules for this since seventh edition (where it gave Hyperios Launchers split fire), it doubles up quite nicely as a Damocles Command Tank proxy.

Very delayed response, but where did you get the radar array bit from again?

March

I, Reclusiarch Jolemai , embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of March pledge to complete 1x Contemptor Dreandought, 1x Dreadnought, 5x Scouts, 1x Tactical Marine by month's end.

To do:

  • Contemptor: Finish magnetisation on wargear options, paint to completion, paint base
  • Dreadnought: Finish magnetisation on wargear options, paint to completion
  • Infantry: Paint base, any touch ups.

That's a really nice pledge there! And I agree - it will actually be more time-consuming then it might seem at first glance. but I'm sure the result will be worth it! :smile.:

I reckon so, yeah. For example, tonight I've been drilling out barrels (including two assault cannons!) and I've got the hips magnetised on my Dreadnought - an idea I picked up from my Imperial Knight. All of that will improve it. Will add some texture to the base next as I've always felt those moulded plastic ones were too flat for the paint. Stuff like that.

Paint wise, it's only a spot of detail but the red is streaky and it's always bothered me. So that's the main job there.

... and so on.

Dreadnought

March Update 1/3

Dreadnought (and options) complete:

So, why did I give this model a facelift when I tend not to do that to older models? The first reason was that I was never happy with it; the base was streaky and despite being mostly complete, the red armour only had one coat and was also streaky. The second was that the Rifleman arms were painted to a different standard and everything needed to be consistent. The third was that it was still using blu-tack and had no bling.

It now has magnstised hips (similar to my Imperial Knight and Contemptor arms) which allows full motion around the ball joint and magnetised underslung secondary weapons (the arms are fine with the pegs). The detail was completed and the base was moved up to my current level (which is, imo, a big improvement). The one thing I liked about the older paintjob was the drybrushed edge highlights, so I put these back on the model afterwards. I may stick to the drybrush on vehicles and just paint them onto troops, haven't decided yet.

It's a definite improvement on the base IMO, and he definitely looks much more consistent, so good job!

I also agree (and hear a lot of similar conclusion around) that drybrushing on vehicles generally works really well as a way to highlight the edges.

... yeah, I am much happier now

I usually paint the edge highlights but if I haven't got my eye in then they are sloppy. Drybrush gives a very muted look, so we'll see how it evolves.

Scouts and Tactical Marine

March Update 2/3

Scouts and Tactical Marine complete:

gallery_62972_9848_212873.jpeg

The plan for these was to finish off the bases. I also added a tiny bit of bling to the Tactical Marine and went about touching up the Scouts - I didn't want to change much at all as I like seeing the progression in my collection as I paint, hence why they look a little behind where I currently am. I did, however, do the eyes, krak grenades, and the metallics on the bolter Scout which oddly hadn't been done.

Nice models you got there!

I 'm stuck in the final 10, a ten man assault intercessor squad that will complete my all-primaris force.

Thanks, I do enjoy those Scouts :)

Finishing off a Contemptor is next.

Company Ancient WIP

Finally got hold of this OOP banner and decided to make a jump Company Ancient. Will likely go with magentised weaponry, just working out positioning and reinforcement atm.
