2nd vow is a chappy dread with plasma arm.

The body is an ebay reclaim that Ive stripped and Ive made the base from bits.

The legs and body are now done so Ive just the arms to do

The only problem is 6 little distractions turned up today.

I thought Id add some character to my 1st company so here is some honoured armour thats been passed down.

Id like to incorporate some white to signify veteran status but I cant visualise replacing any of the gold with white. Any thoughts on this?

A difficult one, as I can't imagine that either. Depending on the weapon the Marines hold, perhaps the Bolter etc casing painted white?

These Ultramarines look excellent! Loving the amount of character each veteran has thumbsup.gif

The highlighting is of especial interest to me. Subtle, but brings so much detail etc out smile.png

Topics like this makes me want to do Ultramarines proper for my next army, but for now I intend to try something totally different smile.png

A small painted wreath around his head, above the temple ring?

Didn't think of that. Fluffy and would look cool happy.png

Thanks for all the ideas and comments. In the end I went for a blend of most of them

Right pad has 1st company Vet markings an knee repeats this

Left pad has Ultra symbol and helmet has stripe

The photos turned out a bit crappy so I'll try and get some better ones up later

To try and fix the issues with shiny areas of model (usually where Ive done a glaze medium) Ive just bought some TAMIYA XF-86 Flat Clear MINI ACRYLIC PAINT

I dont want to use purity seal everywhere so hopefully I can spot paint the bits that I want to tone down.

I'll keep you updated.

Ive finished the first test MkIII marine

Ive also just picked up a couple of marines from the new FW recon squad so Im going to do one of them next.

Im not sure if I like the gold on the power pack vents. I suppose he is an ultra but I dont know if its "too" much. The pics have also highlighted a couple of points on the backpack that need fixing.

Here he is with a comparison. Ive tried to make the armour look slightly darker/older

Now that the ETL is over its on to more blue but this time with a bit of interest.

I'll post a couple of pics of whats next but I'd like peoples opinion on using the FW Venerable dread back banner (with the dead nid) as a company banner held aloft by a standard bearer?

I quite like that idea. Really like your Ultras. I'm always impressed when a Frater can paint such a smooth white, something I have had no luck in getting right consistently at present. The weathering, the shade of blue and the mix of "new" and "old" grabs the attention too smile.png
