TITH I bought a Basilisk.... and piked up a Baneblade I had ordered as they had the 'old' version in stock with the extra weapons and I've been on the fence so it made sense to get t now ahead of the 'new' version having less in for the same price Just need a Rogal Dorn and a couple of Chimeras to round out what I have into a fairly adaptable collection of Guard stuff.... well,... and to build and paint it all Lathe Biosas and Focslain 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/459/#findComment-6180982 Share on other sites

Emperor help me. Behold, the start of the Land Raider Consecrator. So far I've just mated the turret superstructure of a Malcador to the Land Raider hull (I managed to find a seller on eBay providing just the hulls for £35 a pop, which is half the price of the full kit and I can print any of the missing parts I don't have in my bitz box) and started to sand down the detail to be more in line with the Space Marine vehicle look, but I intend to give it twin-linked autocannon sponsons, and possibly a weapon in the hull too, though I may delete the hull turret. As the internal space will be taken up with ammunition for the battle cannon it won't have transport capacity, so I'll block up the assault ramp and give it a dozer blade. Obviously I need to majorly tidy up the surface of the turret, and also add plenty of details (stowage etc) to cover up any wonky bits I can't/won't fix add to the authenticity of the tank. Now that is such an awesome custom Land Raider! Evil Eye
YITHI put my FDM printer to work on some bases; something it did very well! The bases in question were just standard squares (for a 6th edition Skaven WHFB project) but regardless this is very good indeed; no more buying bases off eBay, round, square or otherwise! Casual Heresy
Today in the Hobby I... wrote my first ever army list for a filthy Xenos faction. As many Dragon Knights as possible plus ranger and Fire Prism support. Will it win? Probably not. Will it be fun to run down my opponent with Space Elf Dinosaur Knights? Absolutely! It will take a while to build up but at least have have a plan to work towards. MoriyaSchism
I got distracted from all my other projects to work on a set of five Grey Knights Terminators I got from the Ordo Malleus battleforce box. This was my first time working on the plastic Grey Knights Terminators after all these years because I only had the old metal Codex Daemonhunters era models and I never felt the need to buy the plastics. Cleaning the bits took forever because of all the pipes and mold spill overs. For example I had to separate the extra armour plates on the elbows from the arms because they were fused together. Blu-tac test pose. Thinking of making four cuts like this to get rid of the pig snout look of the storm bolter. This is the elbow armour thing I was talking about. It's a bit difficult to photograph with a phone camera, but you can see I separated it from the arm and carved back some armour plate detail out of the plastic spill over. I won't be buying any Grey Knights Terminators until they refresh them, here's hoping the new kit will be good. skylerboodie, Focslain and W.A.Rorie 1 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/459/#findComment-6181829 Share on other sites
WBRBloom
...I continued painting the old metal Cypher, Lord of the Fallen miniature, and made an order from RedgrassGames of reusable wet palette membranes. I've considered doing that but I don't have the appropriately sized plastic tubing and I don't feel like replacing the gun camera and the mounting bracket with plastic rod or plasticard. I have one spare storm bolter I'll experiment on to see how the cuts go. I didn't get any bodies for the Strike Squad, the plan is to build my Purgation Squad by using all of the plastic that came with the original terminator set. I got the idea of carefully remove the leg detail and psychic hoods from the Terminators and transplanting them onto Primaris bodies. Going for the metal Strike Squad look where some of the armour plates are kept smooth with details mostly centered on the chest. There won't be many Grey Knights in this army, just two or three units escorting a combat force of Exorcists. The Exorcist complement is planned to pull double duty as a 3rd Edition Inquisition army when combined with the Grey Knights and a Liber Badab (Heresy 2.0 homebrew) army when alone. Every project I do is incredibly fiddly so my pace is glacial. Evil Eye
Ouch, sorry to see the nastiness on those arms @MoriyaSchism. Seems mould degradation is hitting those guys hard. YITHI tested out Resione's G217 clear resin and despite some slight difficulty dialling in the settings I am hugely impressed. This is the best clear resin I've ever used. It's sturdy, relatively easy to print (once dialled in) and not even remotely yellow (the slight tint in the pic is from the rather grubby windowsill I still need to wipe down). These wings already look amazing fresh out the curing chamber, imagine what they'll look like clearcoated! I'm going to do two squads of Grey Knights Terminators one represented as a plain Grey Knights Terminator squad and the other as an Exorcist Broken Tower cult Terminator Librarian unit. I'm probably going to sculpt a new Crux Terminatus for the Exorcist Librarians or make a press mold of the old Rogue Trader one with blue stuff. Liber Badab has an option to take one unit of psychic Terminators or Vanguard Veterans. I already bought 5 Terminator Librarians from Leviathan so I'm dead set on doing this. Lathe Biosas
Today I got roped into a stupid argument over whether the Warhammer Fantasy world exists as a planet in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
