A bit hit and miss in the hobby for me since my last update.
So I have....

- Managed to secure and pay for a copy of Armageddon
- On and off built  8/10 ETB orks from combat patrol magazine

- Accidentally bought another Maulerfiend

- Carried on with my conversion of a big mek in mega armour (again a combat patrol base model). I was struggling on the arms then after a bit of a google I have stolen/borrowed the idea of using the grotzooka arm from a Killa Kan for the kustom mega blasta and have a GS mold for the other arm.

Attempted NMM for the first time. It’s meant to be bronze, I’m not 100% sure it is, but I don’t think it’s a bad crack for a first time and there’s an ungodly amount of trim for me to practice on…

YITHI diverted my hobby focus (which true to my username is much like the Eye of Sauron...except incapable of staying locked on one thing for more than a minute) to my Chaos stuff and did some more work on a Deimos Rhino I'd built the night before, joining a Land Raider Proteus and the 3D printed "Molgan pattern" Rhino for my Ogre Brethren's vehicle fleet. Still a lot to do, but getting there!

Ork shoulder armour worked very nicely as some Chaos-y additions to the exhausts. The manacles and bones on the side are from a Frostgrave Cultist kit.

The combi-bolter meanwhile is actually the storm bolter from a Chimera sprue.

The delightful chap in the cupola uses a Tormentor torso front grafted onto the stock tank commander parts, along with a head, sword and shoulder pad from the Tormentor kit and severed head from the Frostgrave cultists.

The syringes are also from the Tormentors, and whilst he's not glued in place yet (he'll be painted and secured later) the little "servo-rat" is from the Skaven Plague Monks kit. It has a little bionic eye, even, though my poorly focused photo isn't showing that well.

Still need to add plenty more details, notably stowage, some kind of ramming prow, some trophies and either a havoc launcher or a particularly impressive dirge caster. My Chaos warband (the Ogre Brethren) are a very poorly equipped and ill-disciplined rabble of warp-addled, sense-addicted scum, so their wargear and vehicles are very ramshackle and poorly maintained, so there'll be plenty of wear and tear on this poor old tracked shoebox too.

That's super cool, EE! Does the servo-rat have a bionic eye? We might see it better if it was facing the other way?

It does indeed- was delighted when I noticed that detail on that particular rat! The positioning isn't in any way final there, for what it's worth, that was just the best angle I could get him to stand up at that would showcase the rest of the interior. But absolutely the eye will be visible.

As a side note, the Plague Monks kit is an absolute cornucopia of nifty parts for grottier Chaos conversions and I would highly recommend grabbing a box whilst the grabbing's good!

TITHI started painting a second test model in an attempt to finalize the scheme for my Marines.

The left is the new (WIP) approach, the right is the first model (finished and mattecoated). The left was initially an attempt to just speed up the painting process whilst gettingthe same basic result, but it came out a lot brighter and more vibrant than anticipated. I do quite like it though? I'm going to finish the model but I'm not sure which one to commit to for the army. Both have their appeal.

TITH I have downloaded the 40k app. A thing I thought I would never do. Until now.

I genuinely still do not understand why rules for section/chapter 25 (army mustering rules) are made available free of charge in the app and not in the .pds core rules...

Overall scrolling and navigation experience, after a couple of hours of use, does not make that app so "handy" IMHO; but as far as the section 25 is included, I consider myself fortunate.

Today, I got out my Adeptus Custodes and planned on assembling all 5½ models I need for my Combat Patrol game next Saturday....

And then I got a copy of White Dwarf in the mail... which I'm not a subscriber.

So I spent the rest of the day trying to figure out who got me a subscription.

Spoiler Alert. It was my Mom.

Oh... I just noticed my Custodes still haven't built themselves. Maybe tomorrow.

IKEA Sweden and Japan are tied right now... and the Americans are playing next... I mean, I have until July 4, to build and prime 6 models.

Yeah, plenty of time.

Oh yeah, that'll happen!

TITHI took advantage of being awake at 3 in the morning whilst it's still cool (it's due to get up to a ridiculous THIRTY SEVEN DEGREES CELSIUS here) and started putting together the Ork half of Armageddon. 5 gretchin have been liberated from the sprue, along with 1 Shoota Boy and 1 Nob, who got a visit from the Bitz Fairy.

He has an arm (specifically the cool jackhammer/speargun), head and shoulder plate from the Nobz box, along with crosshairs and a "cigar" (actually a trimmed off bullet from an ammo belt) from the now-OOP Boyz kit.

I have to say, I am very happy to see the new Boyz (and Nobz) are basically the same size and mostly the same proportions as the old ones, just with different posture. Mixing in new Boyz with the old ones shouldn't be a problem at all, which is good because I do love the old Boyz kit.

Today in the hobby I finished building the Armageddon orks. Must echo above comments. I really enjoyed building and I'm excited to get them painted. Impressive amount of options considering the monopose nature of the box. For some that have criticised them, they're characterful, great swap ability.

The warboss too is proper ooge! His back width is something else. He just looks like a mountain of flesh that's going to utterly krump stuff.

I was assembling Intercessors from the Armageddon box and wanted to make some changes to the sergeant. I'm also going to convert the Ancient but I don't know how to go about it yet. Maybe go with the power fist for that one, too.

Today in the hobby I started ‘tattooing’ my Knight. Early days, we need to still establish whether I can actually draw with a paintbrush… he’s gonna be covered in tattoos, if it looks good anyway

TITHI built some more boyz (with some minor conversions here and there) and did a bit more work on this buggy I'm konvertin'.

OrkBoyzAndBuggy.thumb.jpg.043ca00ceeb9087db6dcd80a8ee10750.jpg

The model was incomplete but in relatively good condition, and easy to strip. The main thing it's missing is the radiator/exhaust assembly, and also the crew. Though given how rubbish those particular models were (I love me some oldhammer but cripes the old ork vehicle drivers were bad) that was something of a blessing in disguise. Though I will say fitting the new krew into place was quite difficult, and the model will be painted in sub-assemblies so getting it all lined up once it's fully painted should be, uh, fun!

Needs a few extra details, notably an exhaust, some bolts, flame-cut texture on the edges of the panels and a bit more detailing on the front prow of the buggy, but I have high hopes for it.
