TITHI got carried away and, rather than working on something I've already started, dug into the stash and began work on something new. Emperor help me.

Behold, the start of the Land Raider Consecrator. So far I've just mated the turret superstructure of a Malcador to the Land Raider hull (I managed to find a seller on eBay providing just the hulls for £35 a pop, which is half the price of the full kit and I can print any of the missing parts I don't have in my bitz box) and started to sand down the detail to be more in line with the Space Marine vehicle look, but I intend to give it twin-linked autocannon sponsons, and possibly a weapon in the hull too, though I may delete the hull turret. As the internal space will be taken up with ammunition for the battle cannon it won't have transport capacity, so I'll block up the assault ramp and give it a dozer blade. Obviously I need to majorly tidy up the surface of the turret, and also add plenty of details (stowage etc) to cover up any wonky bits I can't/won't fix add to the authenticity of the tank.

TITH (yesterday in fact) I built my ultimate Aeldarii model. When it will be done, I won't have any model left for this faction (Unless I end buying more later of course).

And it even comes with a small kitbash (genuinely inspired by/copied from other sources)

Last few nights in the hobby, I have been basing my Neurogaunts.

I need to give the bases a wash then a few touch ups and varnish then these will be done too and I will have to start moving onto the next unit. I'm in danger of actually making progress here!

Little and often....

Tried Vellejo Ruby Red through an airbrush, its pinker in real life so im not thrilled. but its nice to know you can absoutly put vellejo metals through a cheap airbrush you just have to do a full breakdown clean afterwards.

That is a lovely colour!

TITHI made more progress on the Consecrator. Got the rest of the tracks printed off and started work on adding styrene. Also gave the turret some TLC with my new Hozo sander, which worked very well.

YITHI spent far too long printing, assembling, converting and basing a Leviathan Dreadnought to count as a Redemptor; I would like to give 11th a shot, but the Redemptor looks too much like Probopass with limbs to me. I had made a conversion a while back but I think it's in storage, and you can never have too many Dreadnoughts. Seen here with a plastic Castraferrum.

Spent ages working on the base, with the traitor being trampled into the mud under his iron heel. Also featuring homemade barbed wire and a tonne of texture paste.

Fluffwise I envision this as the "Perditor Dreadnought", a technically unsanctioned pattern based on an incomplete Leviathan chassis, salvaged from a long forgotten battlefield by another Chapter but donated to the Death Crusaders as a gesture of brotherhood. The Death Crusaders do not trust Cawl's creations and prefer to use tried and trusted technology, or at the very least wargear developed in their own forges, so recognising the potential of the Redemptor but not wanting to risk consigning a hero of the Chapter to entombment within one due to the high burnout rate, the salvaged hull was repaired and mated with existing parts and a few custom mechanisms (including the fearsome "Corona" heavy plasma cannon) to make a functional equivalent. The Mechanicus of course protested, but agreed to it's sanctioning due to how remote the Death Crusaders are on the rim of the galaxy in the Imperium Nihilus. The only condition was the sharing of the Corona STC, which was accepted out of good will towards Magos Athrexia, who shares the Crusaders' mistrust of Cawl.

Lost the moment in the heatwave but prior to that I managed to hobby every day and have - last unit of termagaunts is ready for varnish and I started blocking out the colours on the barbgaunts and winging prime - aiming to get the Nid half of Leviathan completed asap to then focus on the Orks in Armageddon

Speaking of Orks, I did start building a couple from Combat patroil but then found I was out of glue.

Most recently in the hobby, picked up glue, a terminator captain,.... and Terror on Devlan that I had reserved.

TITHI did the unthinkable and finished a model! Specifically a 3D printed Tactical Marine as a test model for (and first member to bear) the revised scheme for my Chapter, the Death Crusaders, AKA "modern-day Marines if they still behaved like RT-era psychos".

It's a bit hard to see here, in part because of the battle damage on his pauldron I used to hide some slip-ups, but their icon is a black guillotine with a red edge and a yellow flame pattern. He also features a knee marking reading "Delta Sigma" (specifically, the white triangle is the Delta and the black Sigma is, well, you can guess), a black Theta on his right shoulder (in Greek folklore a symbol of death/misfortune) and the text "FETH YOU!" written on his right greave.

As you can probably tell, he's a nice chap.

Small correction.

YITHI was a little unproductive but managed to put together two more Marines, in anticipation of 11th edition hopefully being good.

image.thumb.png.0321bccbaaf5c403065215382a13d226.png

The left is a Bladeguard Veteran, with some minor conversion work- the right shoulderpad, head and backpack have been replaced with 3D printed classic counterparts (the iron halo is from the stock kit though) and his off-hand, instead of the shield, is carrying a flail. Given AFAIK Bladeguard don't have any options beyond the Sergeant's pistol I can't see this causing any problems, and frankly I thought it looked too cool to resist. Pose somewhat informed by a mix of the Witch-King from Return of the King's duel with Eowyn, classic Oldhammer "planar"/weapons akimbo posing (which I still love and think looks iconic) and good old fashioned "come at me bro".

The right has no GW plastic on him aside from the base, and with the exception of the heavy flamer (and its hose and backpack) is 100% printed. And given I got those flamers for a suspiciously cheap price and the quality is less than ideal, I suspect it's not quite pukka, but oh well. Anyway, the legs and torso are from a very cool set on Cults with a sort of integrated dome helmet, which I really liked and thought would go well with flamer weapons*. I'm planning on running him (and his squadmates, when I build them) as Infernus Marines, assuming I can obtain 5 more of these heavy flamers as to the best of my knowledge you can't field just 5 men in a squad (could be wrong?).

*I actually like the design so much I came up with some fluff for it...

Spoiler

The power armour design known as "Menhir" armour is of enigmatic origins; a damaged but mostly complete STC was recovered fairly recently, yet some Chapters possess and have been making suits of it long before the rediscovery, although none of them have a concrete understanding of their beginnings or history. When the STC was initially "refound" it was one of a few suit designs suggested for the ill-fated Mk IX project along with "Emancipator" and "Reformation", despite dating back to some time during the tail end of the Crusade. It was quickly rejected as a candidate, though the STC was shared with the Astartes nonetheless as it was viewed as still valuable enough for certain applications to be worth retaining. There are many debates as to what number should be assigned to it, with the prevailing opinion being "Mk III-C" due to some shared mechanisms and a fairly similar design philosophy, though in truth it is too drastically different to be an outright derivative. No data has survived of actual service records, curiously enough.

Unlike some of the rarer wargear in Space Marine armouries, Menhir armour has enough surviving schematics that it is still occasionally produced in Chapter forges, and is no more difficult to produce than other marks of power armour. The reasons it is seldom employed are threefold. Firstly, with so little surviving history of its usage it has little historical or ceremonial value to the majority of Chapters, not helped by its graceless and brutish design. Secondly, whilst it offers some definite advantages over other armour, notably increased joint protection and survivability against hazardous biomes, it is exceptionally ungainly and cumbersome to move in even for an Astartes, with the semi-fixed helmet dome in particular impairing visibility and close combat performance. Lastly, it has a somewhat fell association amongst many Chapters, and has gained a reputation for being an unpleasant and distasteful design. Notably, in addition to being awkward and uncomfortable to use, attempts to revise the design somewhat to be more practical have ended in disaster, as the temperamental machine spirits of the suits seem to object to any modification- often with disastrous results. There are even rumours that the suits have a negative effect on the wearer's psyche and prolonged use can drive even an Astartes mad, though this may be due to the usage it receives; of the few Chapters that make any great use of Menhir armour, it is mostly used for close support in highly dangerous environments, and often assignment to such a role is a punitive measure.

The Death Crusaders employ Menhir suits in their dreaded "Exterminator Squads", terror troops whose heavy flamers utilize chem and rad tainted "Dirty Promethium". These are penal squads with ranks filled by the most unstable or rebellious of the Chapter, often those with a penchant for causing collateral damage- in addition to the unpleasant role being intended as corrective and an opportunity for redemption, the already somewhat bloodthirsty demeanour of Exterminators means they fulfil their role incredibly well. Most Exterminators do not remain in their squads for very long, as the horrific tasks they are assigned to swiftly knock some sense and decency into even the most cold-hearted Astartes, and those that stay in the role voluntarily are viewed with intense suspicion by their brothers.

TITH I finished painting 2 minis for the 12 MoH.

Also I decided to check the points value of my space marine collection... And I ended up at 5500 points, of which 4430 are painted !

Today in the hobby I re-discovered my B+C account (turns out I CAN remember old passwords) and read the 11th edition core rules.

Might be the best they've made in recent times, stuff feels way better ordered and well described than in previous editions.
