Did some more painting on my first primaris miniature. Also trying out some simple weathering effects for the first time. Messed up putting on decals, so decal-less so far.

Today in the Hobby, I received the Adeptus Titanicus Rules Set and a Reaver Titan, The Uriel Ventris Chronicles volume 1, and ordered AT: Titandeath.

I just worked on Imperial Fist marine for the diorama I'm making, and the next in line will be an Ultramarine. I also started to assemble the Blackstone Fortress minis.

Yesterday, I squeezed all of my marines into a single carry case (to free up a smaller case for my wife's burgeoning marine and ad mech forces).

 

 

For those wondering, the panels are (left to right, top to bottom): characters and scouts; terminators; assault marines and sternguard; devastators; tactical sergeants, specials and heavies; tactical bolters. It's a full company, plus almost half the first company.

TITH I started working on some DIY terrain.

TITH I played a 650 game against Death Korps of Kreig at the FLGS. It was a wet noodle fight that could best be described as 'a terrible game against a great opponent'. I made a ton of mistakes, rolled like crap, and ended up tying because of the mission/objective locations. I learned a few things so I'll call it a Pyrrhic Victory at best.

TiTHI ordered the Scale 75 black and white paint set and some oil paints to test out. I like Scale 75 metallics and I've tried their flesh tones but now I'm looking into their standard range. I just noticed they have a neon paint set. I'd love to test some out but I doubt I'd fin use for a whole set. Hopefully they will be available separately some time down the line or I might hold off and consider trying them out later. I'll have to look into Vallejo paints later too.

Today in the Hobby, I actually got a chance to play a 1K 8E game and it was a ton of fun. Nice to get back to some small-scale skirmish fun. For the record, Vindicators and Contemptors aren't bad at all, and bikes are great herding units.

Moment of the game: Wolf Lord in gravis chopping down a Chaos Biker Lord and getting knifed in the back by a legionnaire, a contemptor running a gauntlet through inceptor squad, Njal Stormcaller, and a 'hunting' Longfang squad and making it through with 1 wound spearheading a legion chaos marine squad. But the match thing would be 3 inceptors ripping up 9 'militia' "cultists" only to have the sergeant edge back and protect a wounded Lord with her life while having personally killed one Inceptor on her own.

Wish it was better resolution but it was just a one-off snap 'because'

The black and white set is really good! I quite like how matte they come out -  and great fun for blending. I'm similarly waiting to get the Neon set - such lovely colours!

TITHI played in my flgs' Kill Team tourney. Only won one of four games, but my Harlequins were voted best painted for a small prize, which I'm pretty proud of.

Yesterday ITH I picked up 6 coins from Warhammer World for use as objective markers which I think will look cool. Also picked up the two new kill teams that were released too.

Think I’m going to go this route from now on as it lets me have terrain already built instead of me building it.

 

Also I’ve just ordered the new Magos character for using in kill team and the GSC codex.

TITH I finished 7 more Berzerkers, which means I'm now finished with Squad 1, and started on Squads 2 and 3. The Champion and Icon-bearer of Squad 2 are done, and Champ of squad 3 will be finished this week once my box of Chaos Marines comes in.

Today In The Hobby I...

 

Bought a bunch of stuff from Anvil. 

 

Enough to build a Command Squad, a Heavy Weapons Squad with three Autocannons, and a ten-man Infantry Squad, all of what will be a customized Astra Militarum regiment of my own design.

 

I spent enough to earn free shipping.

 

Total came to somewhere in the vicinity of $125 US.

 

Can't wait to get them so I might jump back into this community with both feet!

Anvil makes some great stuff and their CS is top notch. I've been keeping an eye on their exo-lord line to see if anything new pops up.

 

TITH I decided to block in my main colors on a combat squad of tactical marines to see how my scheme looks on them as I've only painted Primaris so far. I like it.

YITHI managed to do several things...

1st, I did a short mockup of my Tomb Citadel, just to make sure that what I have printed so far will work. The titan and the two ribs are standing in for the ziggurat, as I don't yet have that designed, much less printed.

 

 

2nd, I did a lot of paint work on my inceptors (blegh, they're fugly but now they at least look like they kind of belong in my army) and a little bit of work on my Lychguard (yay! theyre closer to done).

 

3rd, I greenstuffed a warrior conversion in a truly horrifying manner. No pic right now but perhaps when I get back home.

 

Finally, I ordered a new Necrons SC! box, because I need models and I had gift cards to spare . The pile of shame will grow!

 

EDIT: I forgot! I was also forcibly taught how to paint thin! Many thanks to the local store manager! His last words to me before I left were 'thin your paints or I shall thin your ranks.'

There’s another local one about 6 miles away and their prices are the same as gw’s. I wonder why some do discounts and some don’t?

According to the owner of my FLGS, that's actually not the case. If it's a smaller shop, it seems that GW makes them sell things full price. Only reason why I can get 20% off is because the owner used a loophole to make a 20% discount a monthly paid-thing as a "supporters club" :lol:

If I recall correctly that's actually a thing in america since a while ago, yeah. Outside of america this shouldn't be the case though.

One of the shops I know, which isn't particularly big either, is even still selling the SC! boxes this week for the price he used to sell them before the price increase which is basically a 33% to GWs price now.

TiTHI got my black and white paint set and it really is fun to mess about with. The AoS model I'm currently painting has a set of stairs with a sorta sandstone colour to them and the matte effect really makes a difference. All the base details on previous models are going to look weird and plastic-like in comparison. I haven't tested the oil washes yet but I'm still waiting for my Knight's decals to come through in the post. Getting a bit impatient now since I ordered them well before Xmas.
