TITH I painted a Thunder Hammer head. Upper left is where I started, the rest are where I finished (no good grid for just 3 pictures, lol)

well, warrior hunter we are going to need a quick explanation of how you achieved that effect!

The explanation might be quick but the process is not as quick :)

This skips my first failed attempt and will be how I do it next time starting fresh:

Prime black

Base coat with Vallejo Model Color Natural Steel (could probably use Leadbelcher)

Do a really bright highlight (off white in my case) on the hammer

Shade with Daler Rowney FW Purple ink

Put some DW FW White ink on your pallet and add a bit to your purple to lighten it up slightly - start stippling and adding 'scratches' to the hammer in an irregular and generally centered pattern. Rinse and repeat as many times as you want but as you get brighter keep the area more central to 'brighten' that up.

Once you hit the whitest you want to go reverse the process. Start adding purple back into the white to darken up the mix and start cleaning up and defining your 'power' area. This helps with blending and smoothing transitions. Rinse and repeat as many times as you want.

Once you get back to purple add DW FW Black ink to your pallet and mix in just a bit with purple - start stippling and 'scratching' along the edges of the hammer to darken up the outer edges. Add a few dots along the edge highlights to make it look inconsistent. Rinse and repeat until you're as dark as you want.

I stopped there, overall it was about 30 minutes for the whole head and probably 15ish blends of color gradients. It looks horrible at first but starts coming together at the end so trust the process and have fun!

The plastics I've won (and the subsequent metal characters to support them) are before my time (the plastics came out the year I was born!), but the Catachans are the same ones I've had since being about 10 years old there's loads of old stuff on eBay, just have to be patient and wait for the bargains. Or get trigger happy like I did and spend a fortune!

The other day on FB trade groups I pulled the trigger on a huge collection of old metal necromunda stuff, still not certain if I grossly overpaid or got a deal (just got in there ASAP as typically first in gets it)

TITH I waged another battle in the war with my airbrush. The bloody thing keeps clogging as soon as it sees a drop of paint, and I can’t find the problem

Aside from getting it all cleaned (should run thinner by itself with no sputtering, I even let it sit with thinner/Airbrush cleaner inside for an hour then come and spray it through) I also find adding thinner first then my diluted paint second helps paint from immediately clogging before i start blasting.

Trying to paint more of these guys but I'm a bit slow. Need the spot washes to even out the look and various other colors

Sometimes it needs a better cleaning than just a field clean. I have an Iwata HP CS, and there's this internal nozzle that is usually the culprit when it starts doing that. So take that down, and make sure those areas are cleaned out, as paint builds up there and will obstruct it.

And as said above, if thinning a paint that isn't an air paint, put thinner in first, then paint, or premix outside the cup.

TITH I got Captain Smashalot put together for the first time since I started. Jump Pack and arms are magnetized. He's about 90% done but ready for tonight's Kill Team game:

TITHI got the first set of pieces I'm hoping to duplicate or use on the breastplates in place of all the same damn skull aquilas on the Primaris (seriously GW, even the original Tactical Squad plastic from 3rd Edition had more variety) cleaned and prepped to sit in the Blue Stuff to mold - really looking forward to having some increased Wolf appearance on my Primaris Marine squads.

TiTH I continued my eternal procrastination on painting.

...but I made a little box to hold 5 marines in whilst I'm not painting them, yeah?

I still need to trim the overhand and rout the edges, but I realise with horror that look at my woodworking in the same way as my miniature painting; all I see is the mistakes.

Today in the hobby I finished up the Shadowseer for the The Good, The Bad, The Aeldari - Event.

I also took more pictures of the starweavers. This time, it is the side not seen.

TITH I finished three Ravenwing Black Knights that were sitting mostly finished.

I made some progress painting some Angels of Absolution intercessors as well.

I also started painting a Mars pattern predator for my HH DA, along with working on some backstory for it and its crew.

TBR those Star weavers are stunning. You should be really proud of what you've done there

YITH I got started on another 10 Phobos marines and painted up the base for my apothecary. Leather and washes to do before I matte varnish them.

49 Complete

11 WIP

65 Remaining

TITH (actually about 11pm yesterday though to 2am today - hadnt planned to do so much) I built the remaining 2 sprues of genestealers from space hulk, 2009 version that has been in the loft for 8+ years since moving house. I also popped out all the card and put the Feldherr foam and tray into the box. Today (I hope) I plan to build the terminators so I at least have everything playable and painting can follow.

Today I did the eyes on 18 SM Assault marines for my UM Fourth company.   Now I just have to do paint touch up to all 20 figures.   I have 6 tactical squads in different stages for the Fourth company.    Also packed and shipped 15 metal terminators I sold on Ebay.   I had not used them in 10 years or so.     I have been selling off SM metal stuff that I painted a long time ago and no longer want.

Still have not finished my fifth company command squad.   I have a mental block i guess.     :wallbash: :furious:

TITH I purchased space hulk: deathwing on the PS4. Played it for about 30mins before deciding it was poop then deleted it.

I heard a lot of complaints about that game's optimization, and not much else. Shame because that trailer was awesome.

It seemed very clunky and the buttons hardly responded to what I was doing. I can’t play games like that. It was only £10 but if it’d been more I’d of not been happy

TITH I finished painting, basing and doing decals on 5 intercessors for some Angels of Absolution, 5 blood claws for my Space Wolves and 5 MK III for HH Space wolves. Got a lot across the finish line today, good to see them done.
