After sitting on most of these models for 18 months or so, I decided to get the stripped and ready to paint.

I plan to paint them up in my custom scheme that I had a go at briefly 2 or so years ago.

2 questions for you all:

- What are folks thoughts on keeping the scheme consistent and not altering it for aspect houses?

- I'm planning on trying alclad 2 primer on these. (Recently had some very bad experiences with a stynelrez and mig primer going bad on me and crackling). Any tips? I have my respirator at the ready.

That's a cool colour scheme :tu: can't say anything for the primer, but you can absolutely stick to the same colour scheme for the different aspects - Biel-Tan is noted to do so for example. As The Blood Raven says, I'd recommend keeping the aspect's colour as a spot colour, because I feel that eldar work best when they're a riot of colour, but you have no obligation to do so: the aspect armours and weapons are visually distinct enough that you needn't worry about it :)

Cracking scheme. I had the same thought when starting mine. I went for a Mymeara scheme and have done the blue/green scheme on tabards to keep consistency then picked my favourite aspect scheme. I have also included a bit of red in there to tie them into Ynarri. Edited by Dwango

Sounds good - I'm planning on picking up Mymeara with the coming eldar models, any tips you can link me to please? :)

TiTHI turned my attention back to the forges and started a new hobby project.

I love the Triaros now, let's see what I think about it once I've started sawing, sanding and assembling this monster. It is some pretty chunky pieces of resin. It was comprised of fewer parts than I expected.

Yesterday and the day before I built 6 little baby Xiphons, put them on sticks and primed them already.

Today in the Hobby I built these two Storm Eagles, 2 Fire Raptors and last but not least the Thunderhawk.

Beautiful, beautiful kits.

GW actually gave you enough parts to build all 3 pairs of weapons choices for both Fire Raptors, so you could easily magnetize and switch between games!

A sensible choice made by the design team!

Thunderhawk can be built with the landing feet down or retracted.

(Minimal annoyance because the two big side pieces + front/top didn't fit 100% until I cut sth on the inside away and forced them to meet each other flush... but I guess that is part of the Thunderhawk experience? Bend it until it fits!?)

The detail is 1:1 with the Forgeworld Kits.

They really make you appreciate the far-more believable Marine fliers. (Unlike the Stormtalon and Co.)

Today in the hobby, I finished up assembling the Bladeguard Vets and started in on my Assault Intercessors. These were initially going to end up as a pure Primaris Flesh Eaters army, but, as I'm assembling these minis, I'm just not getting a "BA Successor" feel for them. So, I'm not sure what chapter I'll end up going with.

I don't want this topic to seem negative but I can appreciate why they chose to use Forge World designed aircraft compared to the Studio designs. The FW marine fliers are in my opinion superior and I think the T'au Barracudas are much nicer to look at compared to the Sunshark and so on. The main exception to this for me would be the Eldar aircraft. I think the Crimson Hunter's fighter is just as beautiful as the Nightwing and the Phoenix.

Having said that I would be happy to see each race get their ranges filled out with the missing aircraft eventually.

TITH I finished assembling the last of my infiltrators - just waiting on paint/hobby supplies to arrive. Started going through a bunch of my old minis and figuring out what I would need to do to make them rules/WYSIWYG compliant. My space wolves infantry need the most work, going to convert 10 Grey Hunters with chainsword/one handed bolters back into Blood Claws with bp/chainsword, remove a few power weapons, add a few special weapons. While going through my bits box, I found a gift from the Chaos gods. My primaris army is supposed to be loyalist Luna Wolves, and I found a top knot of some sort in there. Not 100% sure what model it's from, but I'm gonna put it on my primaris captain's helmet.

Sure can Doctor Perils!

I've linked a couple of pics of my Banshee's and Avengers. It would seem that I did the helmet and  tabards blue, with the tabards getting the green tinge.

The scheme itself is Temple Guard Blue, Coelia Greenshade wash, Baharroth Blue highlight with multiple layers of waywatcher green on the limbs. I'd imagine I nicked the scheme of the tinterweb!

I hope that is of some help.

Today in the hobby, I assembled a Storm Speeder...Lovely model, but, I did not have much fun assembling it. It ended up having some really annoying gaps in it that I'm working on filling in.

I also had purchased the Astartes portion of the Indomitus Box and received it today.

TITH, my paints from GW arrived. I am still waiting on the Army Painter ones and some basing materials. I made a nice new home for the paints by going through my bits box, clipping a ton of ancient marine arms/legs/chests/etc off sprues, and organizing them in a divided plastic container/a newer, smaller, better organized bits box, then repurposing my bits box as a paint box.

Showed one of my friends what I'd been up to. He's mostly into BFG and Titanicus these days, but it's still good to talk hobby with him. He gave me a late Christmas present, a Winsor & Newton Series 7 #2 to augment my collection of Army Painter brushes. That should be here in a week or so.

TITH I went to Warhammer world and took my eldest. We spent 5 hours painting, mooching about the exhibition hall, eating and looking for models in the shop that were out of stock. I managed to leave only purchasing lunch and a key ring for the boy which left me with mixed feelings; happy (less expenditure) and sad (no Psi-Titan).

For anybody that is considering taking their younger kids, I'd highly recommend it. We spent at least 45 mins playing "find the assassin" in the final exhibit to no avail but we both had a good time. He did have to listen to me go on about the emotional attachment I had to the 2nd edition metal terminators (blood angels) that were hidden away in the exhibit hall though. Seeing the ones from the original box art, snot green bases and all, hit me right in the feels.

Today in the hobby, I worked on some of the Primaris from the Indomitus box and did a simple headswap for the Chaplain (No bare heads!) and wanted the Sergeant to have a power sword instead.

Cheers, have to give that a try :smile.:

So, it turns out I have neither Baharoth Blue, Temple Guard Blue nor even Waywatcher green. What I do have however is Terradon turquoise, warboss green and biel tan green

med_gallery_77459_16632_120709.jpg

I undercoated with warboss green, did a zenithal of white ink, then painted diluted terradon turquoise (1:3 ish mix with contrast medium) then painted biel tan green on the bits away from the zenithal. Effective without being too time consuming :)

I've also wondered what to do with my bunch of old jetbikes that I never finished now that the new models are going to have some friends (those shroud runners and perhaps even shining spears?), and the rumours of corsairs made me look into them a bit more, and the sunblitz brotherhood scheme really stood out to me... so have a bonus cloud dancer ;) went for Averland base, Yriel as an airbrushed highlight, casandora yellow all over (the slightly mottled stain works well according to the images from Doom of Mymeara I found), then some Mephiston for the design. Obviously extra higlights as well as any detailing has to be done too, but they work well as base colours imo

I like it!!

We must have the same thought process, I looked through the Doom of Mymeara and decided to go with an attachment of corsair raiders too. Sunblitz Brotherhood!!

Haha great minds think alike ^^ I was thinking of using a reddy-orange for the soulstones on the mymeara models, and teal for the sunblitz ones, to get touches of colour scheme consistency between the two forces. I might also end up going with the same zenithal+contrast paint for the infantry on the sunblitz brotherhood (not sure I'd get that look to work on vehicles and jetbike canopies).

Are you thinking of keeping the same arid earth style bases for your corsairs? I have some old models from a purple DIY craftworld. They have wraithbone + grass flock bases, which I'm not sure will work great for the two other factions...
