Completed another section of the rules for my Primogenitor Genestealer Cult and gathered some models and materials to maybe rebase, paint and post for last minute 12 Month Challenges- haven't 100% committed yet, so didn't post anything.

But I'm happy with how the rules are shaping up.  The next section is the Assets that the KT can use to upgrade their Base of Operations. This is actually a really important part of the list, because it's what allows you to grow your Dataslate beyond 20 models, insulate your cult against detection by organizing it into cells and port models from KT to Crusade.

It's an off the wall narrative supplement, but I'm looking really forward to sharing it with everyone. The first draft should be ready to share by the end of February at the latest, but I'm aiming for two weeks.

Quite a busy day for me today. I varnished my 16 Guardians and Finecast winged Autarch, finished a Warlock and gave him some varnish, undercoated Jain Zar and nine Howling Banshees (number ten decided she only wanted one leg, cue me crawling around looking for the offending limb, giving up and ordering a spare online at an inflated price.

Once that madness was over I lined the plastic Really Useful trays I bought with some magnetic sheet, only to realise my collection of magnets wasn't even close to strong enough to hold miniatures in place so I ordered some more beefy magnets online.

I ordered some new Contrast paints for Jain Zar's epic hairdo so that should be a fun experiment.

@Magos Takatus - Please update with the results of your new magnet liners. I have that issue too.

Well, it'll probably  be a few days before the magnets arrive but I also discovered the magnetic sheets I bought can also be ordered in a self-adhesive version. A little research would have told me that but I guess I just rushed into it.

I ordered some 6x2mm disk magnets, if they aren't enough I'm just going to plaster the whole damn base with them.

YITHI finally started up on my Swarmlord once again with some Contrast paints - I both like them and very much dislike them.  They have very cool effect possibilities, but at the same time, when I mess up with them, I have basically zero way to fix it, because I’m trying to get a blend along an entire dang tail on this thing, and I am NOT repainting this thing again.

Just a further report, I got my 6mm x 2mm round magnets and decided to test out how many I needed. For models around the size of Ork Meganobs and Flash Gitz 3 magnets were adequate, though for models like Kataphron Destroyers I might need to up it to 4 magnets. It might be more sensible to go to larger sized magnets at that point but I found multiple magnets on the base was just fine and the magnetic sheet wasn't fussed about the polarity of the magnets so I didn't have to fret over which way round they were facing.

I've also finished working on the Beefy hairdo mentioned in my last post, Behold! Jain Zar!

I hope you like this. :)

Finished the touch-up job on 3 Necromunda Gangers, which completes my first Thresher Fire Team for the Chronicle of Saint Katherine's Aegis.

I posted more details and extra shots in my Plog, but here's a pic of the completed team so you don't have to jump to see it:

Thresher Fireteam

Well, technically it was yesterday, but I started a YouTube channel.

According to my wife I’m always waffling on about space marines and miniatures, so at the insistence of my son, I’ve started to make some videos.  He said I always watch YouTube videos about wargaming so I might as well join in (he’s only 6 :smile.: )

YITH I received the 40k part of a Hatchette order (Phobos Librarian and another 3 Skorpekh Destroyers) and was weighing up the pros and cons of ordering from WHTreasury, but the shipping and VAT would have been a killer.

TITH I started painting said Phobos Librarian, just contemplating whether to keep the robes plain or do a camo pattern on them after all. Also ordered a Repulsor and two Repulsor Executioners from TheTrollTrader instead at a decent price as an early birthday treat. It'll be an interesting change since my Primaris don't have any armour beyond a Repulsor from the Conquest magazine I still haven't finished and a Redemptor, but I could do with the break from painting infantry all the time.

TITHI did some work on a drop pod that’s been languishing in my build pile for forever, in the hopes that I’ll have a chance to prime it tomorrow with favorable weather. Too many times I’ve thought ‘hey, I’ve got a priming window here, maybe I should prime my drop po—oh. It’s not fully sub-assembled.’

No longer!

YITH I had a go at painting my Forgefiend that has been built for a long while. The quantity of trim put me off so I just on the spur of the moment decided it would be done with a sharpie. This took about 1hr 30 so far. Not my best work, needs tidying up, but at least it is on its way.

TITH I continued work on my "new year, new army" with a Catachan Guard army. I decided that with no hint of a Guard codex in the near future this was a good time to get ahead of the curve for once and work on getting an army done and painted. Flipside is that since I'm ahead on when the codex I have no idea what will and won't be good so I'm basically working to build and paint at least one of everything I can take so I'll have a futureproofed army as well.

So far 20/60 Catachan troops built and a whole bunch to go and a lot of special special weapons to build too.

I goofed and its a stupid goof...

I was converting the ETB Eradicators with the weapons from the normal set, it didn't work as well the cables would not sit well so I got 3 of the normal models.

For some reason they are easier to paint than the ETB.... IT MAKES NO SENSE.

YITHI primed a bunch of stuff for transports. A drop pod, a rhino door, and a gunner for a converted Skorpius Ghost Ark

Looking forward to getting the drop pod painted but God-Emperor help me if I decide to paint even a little of it white...There's a reason my chapter vehicles are painted leadbelcher.

Maybe some parts of the doors to contrast with the chapter symbol. Maybe.

  • 2 weeks later...

That’s pretty ingenious Dwango mate.

Tith I bought 7 conquest magazines all for £4 on hachettes website. They’re all 50% off until the end of March. Some say they’re out of stock but they might not be. I managed to get 3 container issues, Primaris Chaplain and Apocathery, the objective marker piece things and the furnace thing all for £27.94 can’t sniff at that.
