*Furyou Miko
Hehe, the first one in Raven's post has a 2e-era Astartes bolter. The ones that looked like SMGs.
vonny
I really like it, though. The pose is nice, the linework is fluid and natural, and the face is just pretty Edited September 16, 2014 by vonny

*Furyou Miko
in which case, I'm still right. :p ah, that picture. Very interesting, because it implies that the sister there has interface implants to control her armour.
Slips
It wouldn't be too far of a stretch for constant power armor uses to have some interface ports/implants; though it just doesn't...feel..right with what we know of the background. Still, its nothing like the Black Carapace. Maybe they're just lifesign monitors for when the lady pictured above is fully suited up. Something less...Astartes, either way. Noctus Cornix
I just find something solemn and strangely beautiful in a sad way. And I'm usually not a use fan of that artist's work.

This is how I always imagined it. I don't think I have ever read a description of how how power armor works for humans but to me, it would need some sort of connection. In my mind I see it as smaller jacks at the base of the neck, one on either side of the spine. Two more would be where the spine meets the pelvis and probably another specialized jack on each wrist to interface with any weapon held. [ETA] If ADB ever gets around to writing an Adepta Sororitas story like he keeps hinting at, maybe we could talk him into describing how PA interfaces without the black carapace. Still Standing
One of my favourites. vonny
it could also interface by skin contact - it can read muscle tension and react to that, and most of our current heart rate and vital sign monitors don't need any skin-breaking connections either

Nomus Sardauk
Neural interfaces for working the Power Armour always made sense to me, if marines need them to use theirs why wouldn't normal humans?
Grgobart
Makes sense for Marines, since they also get sensory data back from their armour, while Sisters only need to move theirs.
*Furyou Miko
Neural interfaces for working the Power Armour always made sense to me, if marines need them to use theirs why wouldn't normal humans? Marines get all kinds of sensory feedback from their armour that Sisters canonically don't receive. I imagine that the Marines also get a HP metre on their HUD, while Sisters don't. Nomus Sardauk
Neural interfaces for working the Power Armour always made sense to me, if marines need them to use theirs why wouldn't normal humans? Marines get all kinds of sensory feedback from their armour that Sisters canonically don't receive. True, true, but I imagine they'd still be needed to more effectively use the suit. The armour may not buff their strength to the same degree as the Astartes variants but the neural implants would help control the fibre bundles so the sisters can move normally without being impeded by the armour's weight, if you see what I mean? *Furyou Miko
Yes, but if you have neural bundles/connections for one thing, there's absolutely no reason not to have them for everything. Which is why I suspect that they wear a bodysuit that detects muscles tensing in preparation to move and mimics them in the armour.
vonny
... which would tie in to the fluff (descirbing that the black carapace makes the power armour move slightly better)- marines have those neural ports to get every edge possible - even as minute as the difference between a neural input to a muscle allowing the armour to move along with it, or the pre-movement muscle tension pickup that a bodysuit can pick up. Eddie Orlock
I recall there was a blurb on the operation of non-Astarte powered armour in the rule book for Inquisitor somewhere around the Tyrus entry.
