To everyone who fought for Guards I raise a glass in salute for you. It has been a great journey, and for me it's been a pleasure to be in the company of so many skillful painters. It's been a joy to follow your path to completion and too see those awesome Guard models.   

 

but I fear we don't have the coveted 100% completion rate due to no word of Obscura's vow at all throughout the ETL II.

You are right, I have been looking forward to paint my tribute to the brave Guards in the ETL II, but instead I have to aquire and paint Pedro Kantor. I didn't think that we would loose. I just hope that nothing serious has happend to him.

Good to see you back Sviar, how was your time off? I was just thinking about the penance vows. They're not official ETL procedure - at least not yet. So if we collectively decide that XX% is good enough for us to carry out our victory vows then who's to say otherwise?

Let's see how the other factions do. If our completion percentage is notably above the rest then I'm going to count that as a win and paint up my Veteran Guardsman squad

For now let's put our feet up and give ourselves a pat on the back for a job well done

the final guard sub forum totals? in relation to the entire Vive total? i think this sub forum, despite being the youngest, has shown it has punch, and is not to underestimated. afaik, we have contributed the largest number of points, and delivered the vast majority. i feel we have certainly shown our worth, and i hope that this is reflected. it would be nice if we got our own badge to reflect this, but i won't hold my breath - captain semper has his work cut out to compile the results and shadow guard (whom i believe supplied the banners, a magnificent job i might add), both have limited time and resources, so i appreciate the awarding of banners is a job in itself. but as i have said before (and many have pointed throughout), whether we be for the emperor or the dark gods, we have unified and shown what the true might of humanity can muster. here's looking at you gents, and looking forward to seeing (virtually) no Oath Breaker sigs in the IG sub-forum.

n.b - i was planning on doing a slaaneshi themed squad for in the platoon, but it may just have to be a merc based Veteran Squad based on the different peeps who have vowed for the IG. please note that it will be in no way biased, but if you do have a particular special weapon you like just say in here and you may find your persona represented via a kill-team more than anything

What about them Genestealer Cult Guard armies who show what the true might of the Hive Fleet can muster?  +++Waves hand like Obi-wan Kenobi+++  You did notice that both my Primaris Psykers were clearly not Genestealer Magi, right?

 

Also, I wasn't looking to be mean, but rather to offer the suggestion that leinmann also posted; that if there is a chance with his schedule and the inclination is there that the Guard might get an awesome custom banner because we are so cool and tough that we don't need 3+ saves or bolters to get the job done.  If you need more proof that Guard are better than Marines then consider this: it takes two Legion Astartes to crew a Rapier, but only a single Death Korps of Krieg Engineer to man the very same weapon. 

 

Barring that, Captain Semper could always tell us the font he used and let those of us who consider the phrase "over the top" to be a commonly issued order and feel that overkill is the only kind of kill worth doing to make banners for him; outsourcing to the Munitorium if you will.

It's obvious we're the Captain's favourite ETL forum - how can you not love the scrappy underdog (see above for the film script)? It's just a matter of changing the text so I can put whatever you like in there, for example:

+++ETL II - FINAL REPORT+++

Looks like the Vive didn't do too badly in the end, but there's much room for improvement next time! Though it was never in doubt congratulations to uber our champion! With 68.6% of completions for the Vive being from our forum it is only fitting the Vive champion is one of our own I hope you'll proudly pin your badge on so all may witness your success I've already updated my oath banner to the completion one

The Guard forum had an individual completion rate of 85.7% which is pretty high! Surprising what the difference a single MIA can make but with so few of us participating every loss is felt. Unfortunately the Horus Heresy beat us with a completion rate of 89.4%, but at least our Vive faction beat them in overall points

Maybe we can recruit some more brave warriors for next year, we're still a young forum after all. Having a newer codex probably helped the DA out, giving them lots of new toys to pledge so perhaps we can get that leg up in potential and recruits? The rumour mill suggests a new Guard codex early next year so maybe it'll be our time to shine...

Last but not least a big thank you to Captain Semper for all his hard work in organising this, even if due to appearing impartial he can't say we're his favourite forum

I do hope ye get some more strong backs into our ranks. I am quickly running out of unpainted models for next time!

I am hoping to set aside some gaming money for some tasty new units when the codex is released but with out small pricey units,

I am down to 200 5 point models a lot of work for very little pay of(in points.) But time will tell. Good job every one. I had a blast and it felt very good to enjoy painting my mini's and sharing my progress. I have also enjoyed seeing what all of you were working on as well.

This is what you should have in your sig uber, since you completed three vows and are the Vive champion. All you have to do is copy and paste the code below into your sig code. I was thinking about that, as the Guard we have many cheap models which naturally puts us on the back foot. A single Marine is worth about three times as much! So all things considered we did very well, thank the Emperor we have our tanks which are a generally more expensive This is why we need more recruits!

The Guard rumours are quite interesting assuming they are true. The supplements of Catachan, Tallarn and Steel Legion would be very nice but if they were to come with much needed and deserved new models too... I don't know if I could resist plastic Tallarn! So potentially exciting times ahead with some luck, it would certainly be a big disappointment if we didn't at least get new Catachan models as they're pretty long in the tooth now.

I should be able to keep myself busy with Marines until then, and if we get lots of tasty new models then I can stockpile them in anticipation of ETL III: Semper's New Boogaloo

This forum also painted a more points worth of Space Marines as a bonus than some people vowed in total, not sure who or why though . We also painted more super-heavies as well so combined with our cheap infantry I say as a forum we are the real champions. Them Space Marines just swooped in at the last minute as always to steal all the glory.

I have been thinking about the idea of a new codex as well. I have a list of bad ideas I would love to see and a shorter list of things we are likely to see. 

I think I would have as so painted a few Bane Blades If I knew I had all the parts and I felt I could have gotten away with it. 

I will either be painting all my DKoK or my Iron Guard next time. and of course at least one of those new fortifications as well!

This entire ETL thing has been a blast! I do apologize for not making/painting more, but I do have ideas for next year! What does everyone think about a Gorgon, Crassius, a couple of bombards, and maybe even a few aquila strongpoints?

 

On a second note: I'd still say we've got 100% completions (for the penance vow(s)) for all that's been posted. I'm itching to make a guard squad with all our names in it!

Well said Argun, just looking at this page and the proud colours now flying in our signatures says it all I'm almost sad it's over, it was a lot of fun working hard to get as much as we could done in the time limit and checking in on everyone's progress. We'll have to find something else to chatter about inanely now

My Veterans are forward ranging assault specialists so you won't find anything heavier than a heavy flamer on them, so if you'd like a special weapon of some form let me know otherwise I'll just randomly assign names. A squad full of such heroes of the Guard is surely destined for great things

My Guard are not afraid to close on the enemy and it's often the Veterans leading the way They're usually all over the place solving many problems with their meltas and heavy flamer so I'm looking to give them some additional support.

I'm toying with some ideas for their theme, as I'd like to expand my modelling horizons and it would be cool to make our squad more unique. I'll give my bits box a rummage through and ruminate some before coming back with my plan

After my pennance vow I want to do a ETL II squad too, our forum champion may get a special weapon. Or maybe I'll save the project for the B&C painting challenge next year. I did IG in this years B&C painting challenge, so why break a newly found tradition

My Krieg second the notion of 16 hours of bayonet drill a day and the glory of dying in the assault for the Emperor! Many people are surprised to see me charge them into dedicated assault units, but so long as it has WS4, Krieg can take them! Hell, they'll charge things that have better than WS4, but they just need to increase their numbers since they'll be hit 2/3 of the time instead of half of it.

If you want to make your Veterans stand out some, you could use Space Marine Scout legs and respirator heads (gathered/bitz ordered from Cadian plastics, Forgeworld, or Puppet Wars).

As the IG forum is trying to establish itself in a power-armoured dominated forum, I watched with great interest how things developed here.

 

Well I have to say I'm impressed! It's not only the commitment of you guys to work as a team and deliver sizeable results. Much more important it was the creation of a specific identity of the IG forum as a place of creativity and genuine love of the Guard - not just SM players secondary armies! And so it should be!

 

Rumours have it that by the time ETL III comes along, you may have a fresh Codex out... So get into position brave Guardsmen, for more fighting lies ahead!

 

Again congratulations to all and especially your Champion, ubewolfe for leading the effort. Also WarriorFish? You certainly qualify for Commissar! Hahahaha!!!
