The perils of a collector (BT WiP) - 16/06 WiP

So I'm back, kinda. Don't think anyone remembers me really, but I've been a lurker on this forum since I came back last August from a year internship in Spain (didn't had acces to any paint at that time). Since I've been back I have sold quite a large portion of my (unpainted) collection since I didn't really plan on playing any GW or other related game.

Since then I have been focussing on painting stuff I like, Showing Case miniatures, miniatures for commissions or PrivateerPress mini's (recently started a Hordes army). However, the fluff and model's of the Black Templars have always pulled me and here and there I did some conversions or painting.

Now seeing this 'competition' started I have vowed myself to paint some templars once again, and finish some things I started or wanted to start a long time ago!

So here I am, vowed to paint my converted EC, 5 initiates and a droppod to start. Hell, due to this competition I might slowly roll back to the game itself as well. But first see if I can finish these msn-wink.gif

First WiP shots. Mind you, I don't have a camera right now and all these pictures are quite old, however they are still in the same state, just biting dust in my collection drawer.

Now that I have showed you my mini's above for the comp, I'll go ahead and post the last mini's I had fully painted for the templars, my last two neophytes. These guys still aren't finished 100%, but they are close. I might actually finish them one of these weeks during the competition!

Fantastic models! What bits did you use for the EC?

The Emperor's Champion Consists of Sevrin Loth and his retinue... let me see if I can dig up the 'chopped up' picture...

The legs are from Sevrin Loth himself as you can see, the torso and head are from one of his guards.

I look forward to cracking the whip over you again Dannis devil.gif

Now that Neophyte, the one on the left, what's that rectangle on his shoulder? huh.png

That's a marking, it is the "II", however I will remove it and change it to "IV" like I will be doing with the new models, just cause it looks better :p

The neophytes look really nice -- the smoothness of the paint, the blending, and the soft highlights all work very well.

edit: That's not to say that I don't like the unpainted models. They're very dynamic -- I look forward to seeing some paint.

Thanks guys, I will you show you all the first initiate I had finished. Currently changed his 'metal/silver' on his shoulderpads to gold, but as I stated earlier I don't have a camera at the moment, so can't show you any new pics.

It's a normal initiate with CCW/BP, no powerweapon here, they will be painted a different color.

Hope to get my camera back next week (brother is currently borrowing it on holiday). Until then I can post some other older pics of some other templar models and just work hard on the new ones! :)

I'm slowly progressing on my vowed miniatures, but I still don't have my camera back. I hope to have it back in a few days so that I can upload the current WiP's.

On the other side, a while back I put together the other contemptor dreadnoughts that I still had laying around. So without further ado, the three battle brothers:

The left arms of both the unpainted dreadnoughts are magnetized. If I get to complete my current vow in time, I will pledge one or both contemptors!

Those poses are awesome!

How did you do that white? looks very 'creamy'

The white is done via my 'bone colour technique', blending from Snakebite Leather towards Bleached Bone (with a pinch of Skull White). Hey! I know there are new paints! But hahah... I've been out of the hobby for quite a while and I don't know any of the new names, nor do I own any of the new colours ;)

So, to let you guys see I'm slowly progressing.. here a WiP of 3 of the pledged crusaders (I slapped a shoulderpad on one of them to see how it would look). All still WiP and after next week I'll have plenty of time to get to painting!

And as I am confident enough that I will finish my pledge I started to work on my Marshall. It was an old design and I broke him apart, it's still the same idea but now in 'better shape'! Here's a sneakpeak of what's coming this summer ;)
