Dark Mechanicus project - Something binary this way comes...

Recommended Posts

If you are into reading, the entire Gaunts Ghost series if full of amazing chaos mechanics stuff. When they are on gerreon they fight against a sort of mechanical chaos/wolf hounds, that work in a very interresting way (i think that is Traitor General or Armour of Contempt). They fight against sounds, icons that drive men insane, etc. In short: read them all. Each of the books has something that might inspire you to more insanely good conversions..

That said, i might actually re-read the series for the 4th time again XD

What cracks me up is that, I don't even know what I'd use those spawn for right now, but I still want to build some. :D

Once again, brilliant conceptualization and modeling. After the Awesome knob flies off the console, I don't know where you go after that.

Ooh GuitaRasmus Stalk Tanks :O

Stop it, right now!

I'm going to turn into one of those losers who begs their modelling idols to pleeeeze!!!a11! Make me something you have no interest in... Haha! :p

That aside, I strongly recommend Rhe Ghosts series. It is probably the best 40k series of books I have ever read. You actually grieve and feel emotion for characters instead of reading 400 pages of war porn with very little character development.

Stalk tanks are amazing, as are the plasma gun toting gyroscopic balls they fight on ancreon sextus (his last command).

If you are going to read the books, make sure you start from the first one. It's the best possible way to do it. Like watching a cult tv series... Always from the beginning!

I created an account here just to say how awesome these models are, and the paint job does them justice as well!

I will definitely be keeping tabs on this one. If there is a small spike in traffic, that may be because I mentioned this blog over at reddit.com/r/warhammer

A silly question, how do you paint the hazard stripes (yellow/black) so accurately?

Thanks guys. smile.png Will try to check out Gaunt's Ghosts. If I'm not up to reading the whole series, being a teacher and reading a lot already, is there any particular book you could recommend, regarding lots of Daemon Engines?

Whiskered_Ronin: Thanks a lot - I always appreciate the kind comments. Regarding the hazard stripes: The trick is to draw them on using a pencil first. Then I carefully paint the lines with dilluted black paint on yellow background, making it easier to correct mistakes after. When I'm satisfied I fill them in.

Update:

Every army needs a boss, and my boss needed to be BOSS, so I made one. smile.png

This is my Warsmith (no, not WarPsmith), a Khorne lord on a Juggernaut with Axe of Blind Fury. He's going to accompany my spawns and thrash around the battlefield, dealing out a good and proper beatin' to anyone in his path.
I made it a point to not have any Khorne symbols on it, so not to be out of place with the rest of the armys iconography, and the juggernaut has been bulked out quite a bit, to better fit a CSM lord - especially the front legs and feet has been converted.

And a class photo of him and his bunch of combatdrugged maniacs:

Thanks guys - I like him, and the dynamic pose quite a lot. I'm always being accused of making my models too busy, but as I say: "More is more." :D

Now that made my own attempt at a jugger lord look bad. I love how his horn matches the jugger's, that's a sweet touch

Actually, I was wondering if it was too much, with matching horns, but it is by far the best looking jugger-faceplate, so it won out.

Fresh from the Soul Forge!

I downloaded the Helbrutes Dataslate and I definitely want to try out the Mayhem pack (teleporting crazed Helbrutes - whats not to like?) I need to build one more, but I grabbed the new Helbrute kit, and after a bunch of sighing over how horrible it is, I grabbed my trusty pair of sentinel legs and tools, and went to work. Basically I think the torso and sarcophagus is looking great, especially the back, but the arms, shoulders and legs just had to go. I'm pretty pleased with the result, and I think it's much better than stock - I'm looking forward to building the next one.

My man focus at the moment is improving my sculpting skills - I'm okay when it comes to muscles and organic stuff, but I find armour and sharp edges very challenging - so much so that the legplates on the last Helbrute was done by my buddy Tue Kaae. This time I wanted to improve, and took my time - they are HARD to do, but the second one was quite a bit easier than the first (the left one is still missing the arrows). It can stil be improved upon, but I'm pretty happy with the result.

The weapons are workable, with modifications - I hated the autocannon, so I threw it away, and made one from ork bits and pieces, and magnetized a couple of other weapons options - the powerscourge was fitted to a spare powerfist as well, so it looked more like a weapon and less like a bunch of living noodles attached to the shoulder. The powerfists look silly to me as well, so I scratch built a claw.

Oh, and I got a great angle-shot of my juggerlord - he's a mean SOB:

Emperor's Golden Slippers, HOW in sanity's name are you not the one designing models for GW?! That helbrute is insane!

Liked and quoted for truth.  Your redesigns as it were of stock kits actually make chaos menacing and border on terrifying.

I shudder to think what you could achieve if you used those fabricating powers of yours on the Imperium side of the mechanicus.

Thanks a lot, guys. :)

I think it could be loads of fun getting to design models for GW - unfortunately, I think their designers pretty much have their hands tied by an art/IP management.

Amazing stuff as usual

The hellbrutes are just redefined the model kit.

One of your many talents, for me, is the fact that you don't let the kits or the background limit you (my biggest problem) and yet you manage to create something new and true to the background.

You think outside the box.

I must confess though that the Juggerlord is maybe my least favorite of your creation and I can't really explain why.

great stuff

You nail it every time

Very inspiring

If someone told me that these things had just crawled out of a nearby pit that glowed with a sickly green light, I would believe it without hesitation... jawdrop.gif Aside from that I am speechless.... and slightly more afraid to sleep tonight... blink.png
