Yeah, I know what you mean; the new BaC kist sare fantastic, and I had similar thoughts about adding them to my greenwing. In the end, without the bone-coloured Aquila, they just look too different so I left them for another project.

However, I would like to add in plenty of mk4 bits (if not complete suits) to my 40k DA though, and seeing these just reinforces that for me. :)

That was my plan too. By 40k the chances of your average tactical marine having a full set of MkIV is slim. You're more likely to find random pieces scattered around, and vets or command to have full(er) sets

Raztalin, I thank you, but my wife and wallet don't ;)

@Major - you could just use other Mk chest pieces, and still rock the majority of the armour in MkIV ... just a thought :biggrin.:

That was exactly my thinking - I have an upcoming ML Tac Squad member in mostly mk6 with a mk4 backpack and arms for example, and will likely scatter a few helmets throughout as well.

Hey Y'all, just a small update.

Spent a bit more time on the Command Squad, more specifically the Standard Bearer. Where I still may use the Watcher idea (thanks for the mould Nemac) to hold the GravGun, for now I've just modelled him with a Bolt Pistol:

And a new Group shot:

Now - one question Nemac raised, was, should I use a robed head for the Apoth? Well, I have thought about it, and I would, if I could find one with the targeting sensors et al on it too. The new Robed head that you get with the upgrade sprue has a nice face with Optics on it (is actually on the Standard Bearer)...there is also one on the original DA Upgrade sprues, but is a marine helmet with a hood over it...whilst I may still use that as an option, what are everyones thoughts on the "standard" head that I've used thus far?

I also spent a bit more time on the Company Master.

As much as I like the sword on the Solaq arm, it just didn't scream Relic Blade to me...so I replaced it with one from the Upgrade Sprue:

I'm leaving the shoulder shield off to make painting easier:

I hope you like. All feedback (as always) is greatly appreciated

Cheers

More WIP shots.  This time, it's my 3rd Tact Squad - the last of the 5 Man ones to fill the requirement in the Lion's Blade:

First up is the Sgt:

The Squads Special:

And the Bolter Brothers:

Clean up, additional DA bling and combat blades are still needed. The arms and heads are all just tacked in place for ease of painting too.

The Assault Squad (as mentioned in the previous post) are still in progress and currently awaiting some shoulder pad love, which I will try and rectify this weekend.  Pretty standard setup for them; 2 x Flamers, 1 Eviscerator and the Sgt has a Power Maul, all with Jump Packs.  They also have a JP equipped Chaplain in progress to escort.

The Dev squad is in a similar state too.  I changed my mind on the 2 x Grav Cannons (I'll keep them for the next Dev squad when I'm filling out the second Demi Co.) and now have 4 Heavy Bolters and the Sgt. with a Combi Flamer.

In addition to the JP Chaplain, there is an IC in progress too.

I will do my best to get pics of these up next week sometime.

As always, thanks for looking and all C&C welcome.

Looking good mate, how many units is that now?

Nemac

Not enough :wacko.:  LOL

That's the 3rd Tact squad (that's not a DV snap fit squad).  I can field a full Lions Blade now of self-built (read: mostly unpainted for my sins) marines.  So, 3 Tacts, 1 Assault, 1 Dev, a couple of HQ's to choose from, and Transports for the Tacts, and the Auxillary Ravenwing or Deathwing Squad(s).  The Scouts are still in the box.  There is also the Command Squad, and a host of Dreadnoughts too.

And then the mountain of plastic crack still in their boxes, which for now I'm not even contemplating!!!

Awesome work buddy! I'm glad to see an update, though apparently I missed your last one back in August. That command squad is sweet, but man, the kitbash for your company master is just over the top!

I see your paint backlog is rivaling mine ;) can't wait to see more paint!

Seconded :D

Thanks Greenz. I'm really pleased with how the Co. Master is working out, maybe the odd tweak still to go.

Re:painting...I know I know I know... Lol, it's just getting the time. At least with kit bashes I can do little bits at a time, but with painting I need extended periods to achieve anything.

Once again, really nice modelling work here - it's amazing how "tall" the Deathwatch mk8 legs make that sergeant look too! (Really makes me wish we'd had more upright legs in the recent SM kits instead of the classic bandy-legged poses. Ah well). :)

Right peeps, firstly, many thanks to all that have viewed my ramshackle works to date, it's very much appreciated, and all your comments / suggestions / remarks very helpful indeed.

So as promised I managed to get some quick pics of the Assault Squad:

And the Dev squad:

That's all the Infantry now for a Demi Co. (Painting will ensue just as soon as the Kitchen is done!)  Just the odd bit of clean up still to go before priming, but happy with their poses.

And here's is my Jump Pack Chapy (WIP) who will lead the second Demi Co. (Eventually - and no doubt based on the BoP kit once it's out.)

As always, thanks for looking.  And all C&C welcome.

Where did that heavy bolter with a drum come from?? It looks awesome!

I'm also curious about the chaplain legs

Hey jbaeza94, thanks for looking.  The drum mag is from the B@C set, just the standard Heavy Bolter that comes with it.

The Chaplain is based on the Cassius body from the Deathwatch Death Masque set.  Just substituted the head, and arms.  I have some bits to finish the body too to hide the holes left by the original chains that go there too.

@SteelDragon26 - cheers pal.  It seemed fitting for them as they want to be up and in your face!
