Okay...

Look. Your stuff is great. Mind-blowing. Seriously, just solidly crisp, clean Chaos work  that absolutely stuns. Were this a better world, and I not a simpering, wretched lump of flesh, this would be the whole of my post, but...but...

This picture makes it look like your base has googly eyes.

Sorry. So sorry.

I'll go now.

Loving where the base is going for Adaddon. Not sure if you're going down that route but maybe add the large base part to a plinth to give it more of a display piece look when it's all together. You're putting the work in so may as well go that step further ;)

one last thing ill show you before i start painting (its really hard to stop bilding stuff!) i made a unit of test traitor guard/cultist, not all dome but nerly thingimg some greenstuff trim details and masks or something and they would be done

what do you guys think are they okay?

think abbadon will be on hold until after the tournament, also need more greystuff and some plaster basing matrial for plastcrete debri on the base

They look a bit like the cultists from DOW. Well done.Don't forget to give at least one of them a wound where his spleen would be. ;)

hehe thanks not sure if i can make spleen wounds

ACE!!!!!:tu:

thanks mate

That's the DV biker serg's head on that cultist, isn't it? Clever. Took me a sec to work it out.

Keep up the good work.

Dallo

yup it is took a bit of careful carving but it turned out okay

looking great man , loving the cultists!

good to see some of the old hexagonal pots still in use , mine still havent dried out at all after all these years , and dam it you still have the emerald green metalic!

thanks :) and yes i have a ton of the old colurs i still use most of them, would never thow them away have to use them up.

Those cultists are looking excellent, mate! Very similar to DOW cultists, as Quixus has pointed out. The perfect mix between religious zealots, trained soldiers and cannon fodder. Excellent job!

thanks kraut, i kinda like this look but if i need to make alot it will require alot of bits that need collecting, oh and i found the head from the terminator assult box you showed me.

I don't run cultists, but if I did, I'd totally use yours for inspiration. Great work man. Looking forward to the finished Knight as well.

i havent run any cultist yet but if i do i want to have them gotta collect them all, and the knight is comming along slowly, highlighting metail parts.... just finished took forever :)

Don't beat yourself up over it. That wasn't a serious suggestion. It's just when the cultists in DOW are shot at they issue this ridiculous "MY SPLEEN!" cry.

Ace cultists, love the wide use of parts!

thanks i try, its my test squad to see if the look was okay or not :)

i know was still fun tough, maybe it would make a good objective marker "spleenless cultist"?

edit: oh an forgot, need tonstart on highlighting the blacknarmour playes on the knigt, would it look silly if i combine edge highlights with my standard spot highlight? or would it work?

Edited by thamier

my plan with the knight now is paint highlights on the black armour plates then afterwards do green glow effects on them vents runes and otger markings, then blood effect on feet claws and sword then it needs to be moved to the right base after ibadded more sand and debri and more dark wash on the base.

but normally i would do spot highlights on my models on the black plates but havent done anything this big that have curved plates with hard edges, so unshire if i can or should do both? any advice???

Take your time with your Abaddon. As for basing materials, just look around your neighbourhood. Skips with old dry plaster, fallen trees where you can easily remove bark and roots, stones, soil, broken electrical item, and so much more.

Cultists look spot on but you'll need way more ;)

With your Knight, I'd recommend looking into a technique called feathering. It'll help you get a blend on the highlight for the large pannels where an edge highlight may look a bit out of place. Plus it'll be a useful technique anyway :tu:

And best of luck in the tournament too.

Man! im jealous, yeah those cultists look like heretics from DOW, i have around 30 guard to convert and i am seriously lacking when it comes to bits, where'd you get those robes and hoods? it'd also be great to see a back shot of those guys.

glad you like them, the bits are a mix of imoerial guards little bit of chaos marines decor, then the robes are mostly flaglands from fantasy and dark eldar wraks, the hoods are from woodelfs i think, cant recall the name of the unit.

a shot from behind as requested

would it look wierd if i combined edge highlighting and normal highlights? or would it work??

advice anyone?

That's how I often do it anyway. Save the edge ones for the last step or two ;)

um now you just got me more confused, i always save the highlights for last well before glow effects but 2nd last then, gonna try and combine them and we see how it goes, also just finished the top armour plate while listning to horus heresy : betrayer

let me know what you guys think
