okay great day, its relase day of 40k 8th edition, the Awsome local gaming store had a midnight opening last night with goodiebags for the first that had preboocked the box set and again this morning, i went there early this morning was the first in line and got the some of the things i had prebooked i chose to wait with the rest(objective markers dice and chaos book) until thirsday so others can get theirs i am not in a hurry to get those, but now to the awsome part.

 

 

 

 

 

i was there very early was first in line so i got my start box and tactical objective cards, aaaaaaand a EPIC goodie-bag!!!

soo what was in it , the 40k sack a battlemat a bastion audio book and normal book, a squad of necron flayed ones a inquisitor a named chaptain character a dark elder beastmaster on glider, a land speeder and 3 sets of rhinos on sprue (altought not complete) and then a rulebook cover

only thing is i want it to look chaosy not just a standard imperial bastion, so i am customizing all the heavy bolters, even think i add some demonic skulls on the tips, but dont know if or what to do about the little chain spike thingy hanging down, i like them to be fairly uniform but it just feels off, any ideas?

Seconded. You're likely to have an awful lot of gargoyle heads for gun barrels, exhausts, etc. from the Chaos vehicle upgrade sprue lying around. I'd use those for quick, easy customization.

 

Uniformity isn't something I'd immediately associate with Chaos. Most of their stuff, heavy bolters included, are probably relics cobbled together from different forgeworlds/daemon forges. Trophies and decorations will vary between individual weapons. But you might see this differently - no idea. 

 

Either way, your army is fantastic and it'll look awesome, even more awesome on its new display board and with a fortification to man. Great stuff.

I was going to suggest Bloodletters heads for the muzzles but you've beaten me to it. I'm looking forward to seeing this. I've got 2 bastions I need to get sorted but didn't want to have the standard Imperial one with spiky bits.

heya Bio, its not bloddletter heads but close, its a fantasy helmet that looks like a bloodletter face, minus the horns now i cut them away.

i know i been test fitting them, plan on glueing them in place then glueing the skulls on after they are mounted

i was a bit hesitant, but i have 3 sets, so tought that one might be worth sacreficing, my plan is to cast 7more of them now i cut one down to size

How's about hanging skulls from the heavy bolters here and there instead of the spikes? Perhaps a Space Marine helmet, dremelled out with a jewelers chain running through the eye sockets?

How did you sculpt those flames, they're amazing!!! Seriously, tried it a couple of times and I couldn't get something half as decent!
