Cheers guys. :)

Xin Ceitan: I may do one as the little known Samson class from Warhammer Siege as a variant as well purely for nostalgia reasons.

Ok quick update, production line has begun. I'm not really worried about positioning or quality of the casts right now as I am all about converting really. These will provide me with the base for the army and I'll convert them as I go.

I'll get the first 30 built asap no problem.

It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I just used a simple kit and flicked the mold as it was setting to get the bubbles to rise. It has a lot to do with how you hold the mold together too, applying even pressure when holding the two halves together is important.

I am pretty impatient when it comes to making the molds but enjoy the messy casting bit. Great fun.

Rubber bands work pretty well for holding the two mold halves together.  You can use a vibrating back massager or even a vacuum cleaner leaned against the table when you pour the resin to get the bubbles to rise to the top of the mold.  I won't go into any more detail here, I'm always unsure how much info is too much when you discuss casting on the B&C.  If anyone has casting questions, feel free to pm me I'll answer them as best I can.  I have some experience and success with it.

Right quick update.

Making some serious progress now and I've started on a test model. Bit torn at the moment as to whether I should revamp my old Night Lords or do an Iron Warriors Siege company with army elements to support them.

First up is the test guy. I'm pretty happy with the way he's turned out so far, bit of a mix of Mk III and Mk IV parts which seems to work ok. Although I could do it quite easily now it's never been my intention to create multipart minis. For me the fun is in the converting so I won't be making casts of existing parts, just my torso legs and shoulder pads all of which are the most time consuming aspect of truescaling. The bare headed guy will be the company captain eventually and I may bling him up a little. One interesting side effect of my crude technique for casting these guys is that the marines seem to be slightly different sizes which is perfect as far as I am concerned.

I'd say Iron Warriors, but I might be a teensy bit biased.

The Huron head looks great on that body, though it always makes me think of the art style from Fist of the North Star and two characters in particular:

Raoh(on the far left) and Kaioh.

you know you still wanna stay in the darkness striking fear into the sheep of the Imperium. Nightlords all the way DogHouse. but you could always add iron warriors in a support capacity later??

This means the truescale Heresy battle between Apologist's Ultramarines and my Iron Warriors that we have been talking about for years could be a distinct possibility if he is still up for it...

Count me in ;)

Looking forward to seeing those hated scions of Perturabo coming together.

Great to have you back, mate.

Cheers guys :)

I'll get the models made first then I'll look at which way to go with either IW or NL. If I did go IW I would probably add army elements though, I need to see the Hersy lists first as I am way out of touch with this stuff right now.

A mix of NL/IW is a possibility though I guess.

Apologist: Fantastic stuff mate! :tu:

I'll crack on with these guys and we can discuss details later mate. Shame you never made a force of the Imperial Fists, the one in your thread looks amazing, easily your best to date in my mind.

Made some more progress on the rhino but I realised today I am seriously short on modelling supplies including glue and paints.

I'll see how it goes mate, I've yet to even look at any of the Heresy army lists so have no idea what goes into an army right now. For the time being my plan is to focus solely on getting the first thirty made along with the Captain then wing it from there. :)

I may get some army or mechanicus units but right now that is a lot further down the line. Apologist and I were talking about recreating a battle from the original epic space marines/codex titanicus rulebooks books at one point so that will most likely be our starting point.

Try to get your hands on the Horus Heresy books (Betrayal and soon Massacre part 1). Not only for the armylists, but also to give you more background info and inspiration for your models. There's tons and tons of new (and amazing) stuff in there. :)

I probably will at some point but I'll have to wait for Extinction for the Iron Warriors.

Quick update

Starting to make some serious progress now, sort of. I've included a painted head from an old test model to show better how the size of the heads works and I will get some better lit scale shots later.

Ok bit of an update.

I'm getting there now and nearly have the makings of the captain and first ten marines. I was hoping to start painting one of the but seem to have lost most of my paints so it'll have to wait for the time being.

Hunting around for my paints I came across some old minis I had started to base with stone flag stones. I think this is an image that is very 40k to me, something about the architecture I guess but this is how I want to base these guys.

I will get some proper pictures sorted at some stage.

These two I want to use as wound counters for the captain. Probably a Remembracer that was spared during the cull and her servitor servant. More importantly I think they help with the scale of the Astartes, something I am keen to show with the addition of maybe some FW army troops like the Krieg.

Quick example of the base finish I want to achieve on this old Rogue Trader I made ages ago.

It's from the Inquisitor riding the dreadnought thing that's name escapes me. :)

As you can probably tell from the title I've settled on the Iron Warriors. A few reasons for this, firstly the Night Lords are getting a lot of attention of late and while they are one of my favourite legions I'd rather go for something a bit different. Secondly, of all the legions that turned theirs is one of the more human stories to me. You've got the main legions such as the World Eaters and Emperor's Children that were seduced by chaos, then you have the likes of the Night Lords or Thousand Sons who turned due to the failings of their Primarchs. The Iron Warriors were soldiers first and foremost in my mind and did their duty for the Emperor in some of the harshest and most hostile battle fields of the era. Unlike the others they were worn down with long sieges followed by short but brutal bloody conflicts.

I've also been playing around with the models a bit now and have found a way to position the marines in advancing poses without extensive conversion work. I've managed to time it right so that I can remove them from the molds while they are still pliable, then bend them into the position I want before they set. So far I am very happy with the results.

Still not had a look at the rules but if you can take allies I may look into some of the FW Imperial Guard tanks to use as allies if you can do that.

That's... awesome.
