Interesting to note two Iron Hands Special Characters actually rumoured to survive the Massacre. What is interesting they throw hints of speculation of how some Iron Hands really considering the use forbidden rites to resurrect Ferus...

Wouldn't they need his head for that?

Nah. They'll just replace it with a bionic one, which will be even better than what he lost.

THE FLESH IS WEAK!

Ironic, because I was just reading the blurb bout Hel, where Ferrus Manus hid some things he forbid his own Legion and even the Mechanicum from accessing. Cybermancy, such as cybernetic resurrection. After his death, some among his Legion thought this recalcitrance towards a wider array of augmentation was a weakness that got him killed.

This is page 91, by the way.

Nope. Cyberpet improves to a max of 3++

You are very welcome laugh.png

If only that kind of balance extended itself to the 40k side then things would be golden.

Instead there are 2++ rerollable saves on squads of guys with a s5 ap2 attack.....

...and they say forgeworld is broken censored.gif

2++ rerollable? False Emprah! What codex is that? I did not see anything like that yet.

Its called the screamerstar.

Its in codex daemons.

One deamon hq has the grimoire of true names...which is the thing that gives +2 to existing invuln saves, which grants the screamers a 2+ invuln.

Now kairos fateweaver has a staff that iirc has a bubble effect that allows daemons to reroll failed invulnerable saves within 12"

And to top off the cake, screamers have a special rule called lamprey's bite which is s5 ap2 in cc.

To quote axel rose:

"YOWZA!"

Yes both Salamander and Iron Hands have access to gear that can potentially grant them 3+ invulnerable saves.

However, the Stormshield for the Salamanders is available only to models (all models) in Terminator armour and independent characters. It costs only 10 points but negates the ability to claim an extra attack for being doubly armed. (And for regular terminators, you must replace your gun for it)

For Iron Hands, the Cyber Familiar is available to all Character and Independent Characters for 15 points. It doesn't take up any slots so a model with a iron halo/refractor field/combat shield still benefit from being doubly armed. Cyber Familiar also allows its bearer to reroll any characteristic test that isn't a dangerous terrain test or Leadership, which is limited but handy. So while you cant give this thing to entire squads of terminators, you can have extremely tough sergeants running around with good inv saves, not including the fact that you can give it to the entire Command Squad. Expensive yet efficient.

Yes ive theorized about a loaded out iron hands terminator command squad with an apothecary.

2+/3++ with 5+ FNP and power weapons and ranged weapons. Oh...and fearless too :P

yikes indeed.

Expensive yes, but super deadly and will definitely make back their points if you get them stuck in combat quickly.

Anyone with the book... does it say where Death Guard are deployed, how, and why? I'd like to know who they face off against at Isstvan V. I know in the books it seems like it's mostly Salamanders.

Salamanders, aye. Their side - South - is full of bunkers and trenchworks. The DG are a good immovable object against the Salamanders' hammer strike. They're especially vicious in their use of chemical weapons, as would've been expected, melting a whole lot of Sallies. Mortarion eventually gets out of the Fortress and starts slicing some green Marines, but the Firedrakes manage to stop his rampage.

The Death Guard also makes a bold move alongside the World Eaters. They deploy 'suicide squads' to the loyalist flanks. Some of these encounter Marines and are stopped, the others go straight through the Imperial Army's lines and take loooots of lives to stop.

Despoiler squads... Are they an actual unit? Or is it just the fancy name for tactical marines armed with bolt pistol/chainsword?

Damn you postman, hurry up!!

Despoiler Squad = Marine Tactical Squad with CC Weapons. They just gave them a fancy name.

What would you guys as the community (Iron warrior players and not) say to the Iron warriors getting the old siege vangaurd rules?

Hear me out...while they are recycled, it allows for a fluffy rite of war for them (not mandatory) and is balanced and somewhat competitive.

I can definitely see the IWs benefiting from:

-Siege mantlets....whats not to like? the reroll armor save but slower movement is awesome and represents the specialization of maximum force at weakest point.

-Siege/forlorn hope objective....fluffy as always and provides a counter balance to the strength of the lists as well as makes the opponent castle up a bit :D exactly what the Iron warrior players want.

-adjusted FoC with no jumppacks, less fast attack, but more heavy support and elites slots...Represents IW prediliction for war

-despoiler squads can have combat shields

What do you guys think of that as a possible new rules set for the IW rite of war?

Actually, I see that as a definite possibility of happening. Maybe not those exact things, but definitely something "seige-y". Although, I wonder what the Imperial Fists will get. Do you think they'll perhaps be something like void-warfare specialists or something? I mean, they do have a rather large fleet after all.

I'm fairly certain that some Legion rules across will be similar to others. Example, I'm fairly certain that the Battle Smith will be an upgrade for Iron Warriors just as it was for Iron Hands.

So I have a feel that Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists will share atleast one rule. (which makes sense) and while Iron Warriors go further into trench and siege warfare,  Imperial Fists will perhaps obtain a rule benefiting the use of fortifications.

Siege Mantlets.. did they give FNP/re-roll failed saves? Because I think that would be awesome for Iron Warriors/Imperial Fists to have. A Boarding Squad may swap out their Boarding Shields for Siege Mantlets for no added cost.

That's not actually half-bad. It helps solve the schizo wargear of the Boarding Squads, while still retaining their Hardened Armour.

Siege mantlets are hardend armor on roids.

You get to reroll failed armor saves. As in a reroll of a 3+.

Makes them able to tank more wounds then terminators unless facing ap 3.

And lets be honest...reroll a 3+ save in HH legion lists isnt overpowered. The wide availability of power weapons, ap 3 and 2 tank weapons and blasts, banestrike shells, and the internal balance created through point expensiveness and limitations is a great way to incorporate these.

Not overpowered, but definitely a factor to reckon with.

Yeah, it kinda factors in the price bump and the loss of Fury of the Legion..so they do have a niche, I think. A unit halfway between Terminators/Tacticals that can get nice and close with their short ranged nasties.
