Thanks, y'all. :)

are fluff for the rogue wolf in the making? looking forward to more background from you, Heathens.

also, have you read the background for Kyr Vhalen? did it influence your latest choice of avater Picture?

The Rogue Wolf has fluff in the making, along with some...friends. You shall see. ;)

And no, I haven't seen his fluff yet, but his pic was just too brutal to pass up.

is the hand of the rogue trader guy supposed to be a power fist (the one on the bolter muzzle)? or were they just bigger back in the days like the berzerker hands?

and why is one of them wearing a guard helmet on is belt? trophy?

looking forward to seeing some paint on them msn-wink.gif

Nah, the RT era dudes just had really big mitts, lol. As for the helmet, see Dragonkin's comment below.

I'm guessing it's Heathens' attempt at giving him a Mk.I Helmet to go with his Thunder Armour.

Really nice work here, Heathens - I love the mix of older models in here, but why one of the 'Command' marines is wearing half-powered plate is beyond me; is he meant to have some sort of ritual significance due to the fact he's wearing antiquated armour?

Oh, I'm sure I could come up with a solid excuse, like bionic legs, or penance, or tradition; but really, it's because I love Thunder Armour. Rolling with the Rule of Cool here.

Nice work with the older marks, I'm particularly looking forward to the VI legionnaire - is that the head from the black reach missile chap?

Good eye, it was the AoBR ML guy.

Ive been staying away from anything Heresy related (trying to keep my spending down see), but the temptation to have a peek here was to strong.

There is just no need lads, no need for it at all. Why do you do this to me.

Heathens that last batch really takes the piss. No need to produce such ridiculously cool stuff, no need at all.

You're all out of order and I am going now, to hide in my 40k bunker.... bye.

Part of the ship, part of the crew. Part of the ship, part of the crew. Part of the ship, part of the crew. Part of the ship, part of the crew.

That must be one powerful power weapon to cut through that neck armour! Great looking models, heathens. thumbsup.gif

It ties into the fluff with his WIP pic. He was a tremendouos threat, and was dealt with by a Sisters of Silence kill team. I imagined that they would go out of their way to behead any psykers they faced.

Nice Iron Warriors heathens! Do you have a guide for your iron colour? Also what are you running your Sappers as? Veteran Squads?

70% Leadbelcher, 30% Abaddon black; line washed with P3 Armor Wash; highlight with Runefang steel. And yes, the Sapperes are vets.

Heathens, you mentioned in a thread over in the PC&A that you painted your eye lenses black; could you go into any detail on how you do that?

Really like how you repurposed Grimaldus' head onto that suit of Mk 5 armor for Hardin, very nice!

Abaddon black, underline with a dark grey (I got a custom mix, but I can't remember it off the top of my head right now), thin line highlight with pure white.

It might be interesting to see the Mk.I Marine as some kind of embodiment of the spirit of the Dragoon/Legion, hence the Thunder Armour. That, or he is a disgraced Officer who attracted the ire of Dragoon-Captain Mahdra, has been stripped of his rank and (in some kind of traditional punishment) commanded to wear the half-powered armour until the campaign is concluded as penance, with extra irony for him actually surviving. However, the Wolfhound of Old Earth still respects him and his former position and permits him to serve in the Command section, because he's actually an excellent officer/NCO and it would be a shame to lose him, especially during the Siege.

It's just a couple of concepts, but feel free to ignore.

On a side note, thanks to this marvellous thread I'm staring at the pile of Forge World older armour marks I have and debating a Heresy/Scouring-era force.

Part of the ship...

@1000heathens

I like how your army feels like the cover of some HH black library books. Your iron warriors don't all have a ubiquitous armor mark, but there is some sense of enjoyment in that, not to mention some very nostalgic minis. Your army feels very..."scenic" is how I would describe it. It feels like the artwork and that's really cool!

Could you find an ounce of love in that iron heart of yours to show the frater a group shot?

Bravo! Your use of the rogue trader marines is truly inspiring, you have breathed new life into some very dated yet still appealing marines. Love Hastings and Novato. Will have to dig out my old RT marines and see if i can do a job half as good as you.

Man, y'all gonna make me blush.  :P Thanks for all the kind words and support. We'll see about that army shot after the ETL, promise.

@ Magicman: In some ways, yes, and in some, not. The scheme is simple, but the details and the mud bases can be a royal pain in the rear. Especially the mud, as each successive layer takes an age to dry.

I'd been lurking and keeping an eye on this plog for a while from the outside (much like Voldemort, I can tell when my name is mentioned somewhere...) but decided it was time to say something.

Gentlemen, you are quite humbling my own little efforts in terms of background, atmosphere and quality of the models. Bravo.

Looking forward to seeing more.

I can imagine dude. The mud rocks though, worth the effort im sure. Really looks like they're slugging through a shot up trench.

Since ive delved into the metallic marines (half, lol) lately ive been thinking it really makes painting them quicker than doing the more normal prime colours. Always a good thing. :P
