Also, it starts the trend of Sean Bean dying in things.

Sean Bean's been dying in movies and miniseries since 1986 (Caravaggio).  He bucked the trend for a while with the Sharpe's films; now he's back to form-- croaking on camera with the best of 'em.

Jeez, that model is cool. I don't care that he's not red, I actually like that he's still relatively true to the XII colours. He's still talking about 'us'. And 'our echelon', from which I gather he's one of the more sound of mind - and thus more likely to keep to tradition- among his brothers. Those small lines of fluff you often add always add so much character and atmosphere to your miniatures. It's really quite awesome.

Much like Gun Katas, he looks fantastic, but is probably insane. :p

@ Firepower - I was going for a little groove cut into his helm by a near-miss blade, but it came out a little flat. While I'm sure there were plenty of red World Eaters by then, I was curious how a more traditionally 40k Khorne Berzerker would look in a legion color scheme. Plus, I'm thinking he's a little more sane than some of his brothers, so maybe he likes to remind himself of old legion ties? happy.png

@ Augs - Thanks! Ah, well there ya go. Glad to hear my little fluff snippets convey an actual cohesive idea!

@ BCK - Why do you think he has a little bloody drool trail out of the bottom of his respirator grille? biggrin.png

@ Dark Rage - Thanks man! Honestly I had to do something to break up what was a super boring expanse of white on his greaves. That was my first idea.

@ Ace - Awesome, thanks!

@ Krieg - Ah, I do too. They are too cool for loyalist school.

@ Atia - More Heresy Eaters... like this?

Nice group shot!! I have missed this thread :) Its good t see you updating it again.

If you are back to World Eaters, does that put your Fists on hiatus for a wee while? Is the Deredeo a new addition? I can't recall seeing it before. I also like the World Eater with the  Japanese style back banner too.

I need to make a start on my Angron :)

All of these great wip logs, I'm surprised I didn't discover this earlier! I absolutely live your WE especially that contemptor, it reminds of the contemptor from the cover of betrayal!

Flint, I knew you were the master of the night lords but your models are completely blew me out of the water! I might have to steal the idea if using the raptor heads for my 30k night lords. I also like the ponytail idea. The blue you have for your night lords is perfect color, if you don't mind telling, what is your recipe?

Bros... Did a Templar. His banner requires some interesting angles for taking photos, but I think it came out alright.

@ Thousand Eyes - Me too. I'm so stuck in the AoD, Red and Brass says Thousand Sons to me.

@ Hydra - Cool! Its always awesome to hear I inspire.

@ Marshall - Don't mind at all, its super simple, b/c I'm lazy.

All paints are Vallejo... air?

1.) Basecoat with a 50/50 mix of black and Blue Angels

2.) Layer with solid blue angels

3.) Top end layer of French blue

3.5) Wash with drakenhoff in the recesses.

4.) Edge highlight with 50/50 french/ice blue.

If any of those are looking too bright, you can knock them down a peg with a Drakenhoff wash.

Nice Templar Flint. Looks good with the gold trim. Haven't seen that often. That is also one big banner. Definitely want to be seen. :P

Also wish I could make my power weapons looking that good with the blue. lol

Ahhh, so you do remember where the black paint pot is after all biggrin.png

Not bad over all. The eyes and gold came out particularly well. Freehanding is coming along well, though a few of the letters could use some cleaning around the edges. That brown mark on the banner has the dreaded 'coffee stain' edges to it, but I'm not entirely positive on how to avoid that 100% of the time myself. Washes can be tricky mellow.png

A curious note on the cross: you may want to try inverting the colors, to have a dark red border and a bright red center. A lot of freehanded logos have a dark border, partly to make the emblem pop, and partly because traditional edge highlighting doesn't exactly make a whole lot of sense for a completely flush surface anyway. Not that edge highlighting makes a whole lot of logical sense in general mind you, beyond making the model 'pop.'

On a different note, Google-translate says that banner reads "I fear the dark." Either it's wrong, or you're being cheeky.

Cool Templar, Flint! Makes me want to finish my cjaplain. I too am curious at to what you want the faux Latin to say. It's been years since I had Latin in high school, but I know it doesn't make sense from a puritan pov. Something like Terror without the Dark? Enlighten us! (See what I did there? ;) )

Templar looks good :)

Interesting to see it with a Warden axe instead of a sword, but it is cool. I also very much like the muted gold on the banner top.

If you do not drill the bolt-holes in the banner, I would suggest going around the circles and halfway up the wash marks with a darker brown and maybe a very thin line around the black holes with a grey colour. It would help reinforce the burnt parts and the grey would be like an ash/soot from the ends of the threads. Would also make the holes stand out more.

A Crow of Ash and Cinder

"You ask why, Blood Angel? My own Father tried to murder the lot of us at the 42nd gate. He was in no danger, an immortal demigod making war, splendid and halcyon as we were murdered under his feet by the wrath of the Unsighted. Those who were left were flung to the far reaches in useless patrol fleets."

"The Ninth were fools if they thought any of my true kinsmen would submit. Are you so eager to die for a Father that doesn't know your name? Come then. You won't be the first Angel I've burnt to cinder."

Krieg - Thanks man! I've tried so many recipes for power weapons, but its always nice to hear when someone likes one.

Recon - All the painted ones? That would take a lot more space than I have readily available I'm afraid happy.png

Firepower - Oh, I occasionally dust it off biggrin.png I will defs give the inverted cross idea a try. That might look pretty awesome. My heresy Templar go by the motto "Nos Terror non Tenebris," which, is vaguely (and unrealistically literally) "We Fear no Dark". That wouldn't fit all the way on the banner though, so I figured "Fear no Dark" would suffice.

Augustus - Oh, from an actual grammatical point of view, its terrible. But Nos Terror Non Tenebris sounds cooler than Timemus No Tenebris.

Dantay - Thanks man! I will admit to a predilection for axes.

STD - Thanks! I should probably get back to painting more of them. They are supposed to be my gaming legion.

CkpMax - Thanks! I'll do my best to actually stop painting on-offs and work on an actual army I play with

B1soul - Hah, my Templar feel legit when Firepower admits they're "not bad," my White Scar feels more legit with your endorsement biggrin.png

Atia - Thanks girl!
