The Infernal Guard - Bikernauts

Adra'Melek

Recon, they do eventually. The symbol of the 8th Circle (for this read the 8th Realm as far as canon Salamanders go) is the triangle (symbolising fire and/or mountain) with the 'v' above it symbolising the caldera or eruption from a volcano. It is also a very simple version of Khorne's symbol. I may have it as being suggested/developed by the Angels (our 'version' of the Word Bearers), who also encourage some of the more culty aspects.

Following the Emperor's fall they themselves fall into their own guilt and anger, bringing fire and blades to those that break from the Emperor's path until they lose their way and become just a legion of destruction, willing to destroy the entire imperium due to its heresy. Burn...Maim...Kill

Well I have 5 Prometheans (Pyroclasts) pretty much done, along with the body of an elite scheme dreadnought. But here's the progress on a Chaplain (originally got for a planned War Hound army but I changed my mind on how to do them for that so reperposed.

I've got Vulkan now so I'm thinking about the weapon. One thing I'm thinking about is using the Drake skull off his shoulder and the blade of a chaos knight lance to make something up. Main issue is the width of the skull but that's a way off yet. I've got Pyroclasts, Firedrakes, Sicaran and Spartan to paint up before then.

I'm doing a Legion Champion for the March of Legions - Salamanders. Is it a lame to have.

The Salamander: Every Chapter nominates a champion to fight for the honour of being the Circle's Salamander. These warriors gather and fight to the death under the gaze of their brothers until a single champion is left standing. The Salamander's striking green armour is seen where the fighting is thickest, seeking out the greatest challenge. Often falling in a blaze of glory, the tradition of selecting a new champion begins again.

How lame is that?

Well I've started the big man. I'm avoiding any cutting at the moment so I'm not at the point of no return. But here's the idea with the weapon.

I'm planning on cutting away the shoulder pad to reduce the profile of the skull. But a bit scared :)

Well I bit the bullet.

Still needs a bit of green stuff but the overall shape is done. Vulkan's body is there for scale. I think it's the right length.

@Stercus, cheers. That was the look I was going for

@Conn, not sure if I'm more excited or terrified (although since I was supposed to finish off about 5 other things before starting I guess it's more of the former).

Anyway, here's the pose.

Unfortunately my modelling skills are very limited so I'll be modifying Vulkan rather than do it from scratch. Other arm isn't sorted yet, not reall sure (the weapon arm isn't glued in yet so it can still change). I'm trying to temporary fix as much as possible to get an idea.

Adra'Melek is looking good! The model that is, not you Adra, although in regards to your work you are looking good too but that's not what I- Oh nevermind!

Anyway, my one criticism/suggestion would be that perhaps the Spear would look better if the blade was position in-between the Flamer nozzles if possible (maybe you could file a slot between them?), I just think it would improve the general silhouette of the weapon.

@Atia, thank you very much. The head will be Vulkan's but modified (hopefully) a bit like Joshua Graham (thanks Wade for the suggestion way back) with a hood (as with Mortarion). But I'm leaving that till last. I want to practice a bit, I'm thinking of using tissue paper as in Kage's cloak tutorial but it might be too delicate at that scale. As for the name, I'd be honoured, not like I did rip it of in the first place :)

@SanguiniusReborn, I know what you meant and thank you also. I don't think there is enough room between the nozzles, but I should be able to cut the blade so it fits in snugger. I'll give it a crack and see what happens :) I've already destroyed a fantastic £60 model so I'm all in now

Do you reckon that could be the weapon Fulgrim made him?

If you want it to be, then it totally is. biggrin.png

Edit: issue is the left hand/arm, as Conn said. How does it look? Minor positional corrections are welcome. I'm not going to be able to perform major alterations.

Looks good to me.

It's like you've captured the moment in time where he's just beginning to lunge forward to stab some poor fool in the chest. happy.png

How will you be doing the hood? Will it be drakeskin like his cloak? Because that would look sweet. smile.png

I fully support this idea, though I do have a question as to why you decided to switch from Adra's original Scythe to a Spear for his weapon?

I'm not complaining or anything, it's always nice to see more weapon variety than just swords and axes, I'm just curious as to what prompted the change.

EDIT: No typos on my watch, dangit!
