and suddenly the Prince of pleasure is having his way with your boys

I hope that was unintentional :S

The Icarion sculpt is incredible so far, if a little static for my personal tastes. Looking forward to the paintjob though, when that comes around. And I'm seriously looking forward to the artwork being complete; I'm a great fan of Mr. Swaid's work, and I know it's going to come out looking spectacular.

What do you have in mind for the other Celestial Orders you have named? I'm endlessly curious about them, now they've been named.

Thanks all of you who like me sculpted Icarion!

Athrawes: about the Golden Deamon and other GW events - you cannot start with this model because you're not an author.  You can only use models sculpted by yourself.

Otherwise you'll be disqualified.

Do you mean just painting & sculpting competitionwise (which is obvious), or do you mean that he can't even use it in games?

Thanks all of you who like me sculpted Icarion!

My question wasn't about golden demon, it was about using the model in games at games workshop events...

I think he saw marine7312000's comment and got the wrong idea, or at least that is what I'm hoping.

Why Forge World never gave Contemptors the ability to carry Volkite weapons I'll never understand...

Actually, they updated the Crusade Army List. Now Dreadnoughts and Contemptor Dreads can take Volkite Weapons.

Ah, well then, in that case why they haven't released Volkite Weapon Arms on Forge World yet I'll never understand... :p

I can't believe I haven't commented on this thread yet! 17 pages of creative excellence!

I'm always sceptical when someone tries to build one of the lost Legions but you've done a fantastic job. The imagery and background are backed up by well developed painting and modelling skills.

Keep up the brilliant work, glory to the II :)

As I've mentioned Athrawes, your work is creative and inspiring and I am incredibly awe-struck by the outstanding execution of your blog.

Keep it up mate, I'm just sorry it's taken me forever to get onto this thread to show my support.

I've been doing some research on the point about using the Icarion model in a GW gaming event, I am waiting for the staff at GW:HQ to get back to me but all my googling has pointed me to believe that you would be ok using the model in the gaming torniments. As Marchelle has correctly pointed out any of the painting torniments would indeed require you to be the author of the model, however gaming torniments do not, the only restriction on a scratch built model is that it must not be used to replace a character that ether GW or FW has a model available for. Athrawes as soon as I have an email back from the staff at Warhammer World I'll let you know the official ruling.

I love this thread. I'll be honest, i'm imagining Icarion holding his weapon in a sweeping motion during a battle with his brother, a large ork, random xeno, or even a deamon(though that might be kept underwraps) ur idea is an inspiration to me. I'm already thinking of new qoutes. Glory in heresy my friend

Here are a few WIP portrait studies of Sentinel Athrawes, please let me know what you guys think. What you like, don't like or any other preferences you may want to share.

Imperial Record: The Siege of Madrigal

My Lord,

It has taken great effort but below is the summation of my efforts to comply with your request. Most evidence {in accordance with His edict} has been purged, however, for reasons beyond the comprehension of this lowly servant, it seems that even the memory of this event remains obscured, sequestered within the subconscious of those who bore witness.

What follows is the only know surviving imperial record of the prosecution of the II Legion. What would come to be known by those whose memories remain intact, as the Siege of Madrigal.

For reasons unclear in this less perfect age, the Legion of Icarion the Stormborn had removed itself from the great crusade. It has been speculated by those in service to the Sigilite that some madness overtook the II Primarch, that his treason was born of some ignorance or misconceived spite, or more darkly that perhaps there was some subtle flaw in his geneseed. While the causes are, and forever will remain unknown for the purposes of this record, the consequences have been burned into the memory of those who lived through such times.

It started quietly. The Emperor beloved by all called together nine of his sons to silence a tenth. It is known that Russ of the VI was present but of the others, no record exists. To his Sons, the Emperor shared a terrible truth, in some fit of madness, no less than four score Imperial worlds had been purged of all life. Though his sons baulked at the idea that one of their number could commit mass murder of loyal Imperial citizens on such a scale, the evidence provided by their Lord Father, was as plain as it was staggering.

From surviving inter-fleet communiqués, it seems that our Lord, in response to this tragedy, assembled a coalition force comprised of detachments from nine legions assumed to be under the authority of the VI Primarch. While precise numbers no longer exists, from the few remaining fleet manifests it seems likely that the Astartes Prosecution force numbered in excess of 60,000 Legionaries.

With his forces mustered, The Master of Mankind commanded his Son to destroy the world of Madrigal and to end the threat posed by the II Legion to the greater Imperium. Unfortunately, the specific orders concerning the II Legion have been lost to time. However, it seems likely that [REDACTED]

But Madrigal was no mere world in the firmament of the Imperium, and even amongst the bastions that were the Legion home worlds it stood apart. Even before the arrival of the Emperor, Madrigal had established itself as the hub of an interstellar empire, the base of fleets second in size and grandeur only to the Domains of the Navis Nobilite and the Solar Praetorian fleets. With its incorporation as the heartland of the II Legion, famed for the art of their Void born wrath, Madrigal had been turned into a nothing less than a fortress.
And a star system makes an awesome fortress.

Orbital defenses in their thousands dotted the sky, the constantly shifting fleet patterns were a wall of Steel and courage, and even the moon itself had been turned into a devastating satellite of destruction, withering payloads of death aimed vigilantly at the heavens. With the addition of skilled warriors as sublime as the II Legion manning it’s bulwarks, Madrigal had been made nigh impregnable.

But the order had been given, and with it began one of the greatest naval sieges in Imperial history.
