Wow o wow!!! Come back to the BnC and see this incredible knight!! Lüv the toes gripping the mound and the twin GC is a fun look! The detailing is looking great so far... I’m glad I’m on the loyalist side as otherwise I’d feel not chaos enough and want to sculpt teeth and star points on everything;)

Okay, so I am feeling really pleased with myself right now, because I kept pestering you about doing a cockpit, and now the finished build is looking spectacular, as I know it would. QED, I'd say  What's the base model for the pilot, by the way? I'd say a Titan princeps of some sort...?

Regarding the head, it's a huge improvement over the somewhat soulless, vanilla FW facemask. My only criticism would be that I am not a huge fan of the horns you have chosen, as they are just so clunky and cartoony -- I think a pair of Bloodthirster horns would make the design even cooler -- compare ElDuderino's WIP renegade Knight for reference, as I believe he uses the Bloodthirster horns.

But anyway, fantastic work -- as expected, buddy! :smile.:

EDIT: Also, just some food for thought:

As always it's a pleasure to come back to this thread every time for the eye candy. really fantastic work on these models.  Hopefully the better I get the more the ratio of Intimidated-Inspired will shift, but I'll settle for how I feel now over not seeing your stuff :biggrin.: . Super excited to see you working on a knight as thats my current project as a present for a friend and I'll take all the inspiration I can absorb. The head looks awesome and I feel like maybe I haven't put enough effort into mine so I'll have to do some more thinking.  I'll be sure to revisit frequently.... I've been away for 6 weeks as I was bogged down by something I had to get on with at home and I feel like I've missed TOO much.  great work Augustus, thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys, I'll hopefully be making some progress today on the Knight helmet.

@ Kraut: I hear what you're saying about the horns - a friend told me he found that the horns give the head a 90's chaos vibe, which I guess you could say is more comical, as you've described it. I'll take a look at alternatives, although I can't give any guarantees - for the fact of the matter is; my perception and style roots in the 90's, so I'm a bit enamoured with the look as it is. Plus, we've already established that I'm a bigger fan of the Masters of the Universe-look in 40k than you are  But I will give another rummage through the ol' bits box and see what else I can come up with.

In the mean time, here's some pictures of another project I started (actually I already started it here, but I guess it was snowed over by the Knight pictures in the same update...:happy.:) finished while the B&C was offline.

A Foetid Bloat Drone with a fleshmower. I was gifted the dedicated GW Bloat-drone kit for my birthday by my gaming pals. It's a great kit, with three different carapaces. It also holds one of each weapon option: a fleshmower, a pair of plague spewers, and a heavy blight launcher. The heavy light launcher sucks, and I already have three converted DI drones with spewers, so it's going to be build with a fleshmower. Seeing as I had two carapaces spare, I figured I could use one of those on the last of the four DI Bloat-drones I had. The problem was that there's only ONE fleshmower in the dedicated kit, so I had to make my own for this conversion...

I used the arms from the Dark Eldar Talos kit, coupled with the landing gear of a Storm Raven, which I had left over from the Night Lords Storm Eagle and Fire Raptor commissions I did in the beginning of this year. I combined them, and started glueing a ton of spikes from chaos vehicle sprues on a piece of plastic tube...

Here's what I have so far:

ZGTckSF.jpg

iApveYc.jpg

xHyxCgl.jpg

So this is a standard DI Bloat Drone with a converted fleshmower and a dedicated GW Bloat Drone kit's carapace. I also gave it a plasticard mohawk instead of the spikes, which unfortunately broke off in the converting process...

I hope you like it! Let me know what you think! Comments more than welcome!

Cheers.

@ DuskRaider: Thanks! And yes, this was done after assemling and glueing the knight. This did not make things easier - and I have learned my lesson. I'll make the cockpit with one side unglued for the other two Knights and the five Armigers that are up next (someday).

@ Biohazard: Cheers! Yeah that pilot is a great piece of kit. It's a recast of some FW kit, I have no idea which one. The only thing that I changed was cutting away his head and replacing it with that of a DV cultist.

@ lionofjudah: Haha thank you for the kidn words, buddy! And be sure that I'm glad you're on the loyalist side - we need you guys as enemies.

@ KrautScientist: I already commented on the pilot and the horns above, but about your food for thought pitcure: I kept looking at it and searching for the cat hair. Untill I realised you cut away the spacing between the nose and the middle mouth slit to create a chaos arrow. BRILLIANT! Thank you!

@ Pandoras Bitz Box: Your kind words are always flattering, sir! Thank you! I hope your RL is going good or at least better than before. Take care of yourself!

Great effort on that flesh mower, and I love the jagged mohawk. That's for referring to that other post with the howling Plague Marine, he looks great. I'm reminded of a little while back when you were working on one of those guys and it had like a huge cancerous growth on it's back? Did you finish that guy? I feel like you normally finish the things you start... Oh and the prince! Man... It's been ages... I need to have a proper sift through the history.

Because I forgot that there's a local 2000-point tournament, the Lord and the Tallyman will have to wait two weeks to get properly finished - even though I'm half-way through them. I had been getting a pretty decent player on a competitive level in 7th, but 8th knocked the wind out of those sails. My regular hobby group of 30-somethings has been getting a lot more competitieve and they've infected me with the disease again. So even though I have no more than 12 games of 8th edition 40k under my wings since its release, I'm getting into a tournament - and ICT-training tournament. Golly.

Here's the list I've come up with:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

:HQ: Detachment 1 battalion (Chaos Daemons) 598 points

HQ : Spoilpox scrivener (75) plaguesword (0) distended maw (0) disgusting sneezes (0) 75

TROOPS: 29 plague bearers (203) 1 plague ridden (7) plagueswords (0) instrument of chaos (10) daemonic icon (15) 235

TROOPS: 3 nurglings (54) teeth and claws (0) 54TROOPS: 3 nurglings (54) teeth and claws (0) 54

TROOPS : 20 plague bearers (140) 1 plague ridden (7) plagueswords (0) instrument of chaos (10) daemonic icon (15) 186

TROOPS : 3 nurglings (54) teeth and claws (0) 54

TROOPS : 3 nurglings (54) teeth and claws (0) 54

:HQ:  Detachment 3 Superheavy Detachment (Renegade Knights) 866 points

Renegade Knight (285) 2x Avenger Gatling Cannon (150) 2x Heavy Flamer (34) Heavy Stubber (4) Stormspear Rocket Pod (45) 518

Renegade Armiger Helverin (160) 2x Armiger autocannons (10) Heavy Stubber (4) 174

Renegade Armiger Helverin (160) 2x Armiger autocannons (10) Heavy Stubber (4) 174

That's 2000 points on the button, and no less than 16 CP (which I'll need with the CP-heavy Knights in there).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The problem is, that I don't even own half of this army yet.

I have the Princes, the scribe, 9 Nurgling bases, and 30 Plaguebearers painted, as well as the Knight build, but that still leaves me 22 Plaguebearers, 3 Nurgling bases, and two Armiger Helverins short. Luckily for me, this tournament does NOT require everything to be painted or even build completely, so long as it's clear what something is, which weapons it has, and it's of equal size. In addition, I already ordered three boxes of plaguebearers and they have arrived yesterday. The Helverins and the Nurglings will be bought tomorrow.

So the plan is to build the plague bearers and the nurglings and paint them in one fell swoop (they're mostly drybrushing and washing, so they can be done between anything), exactly like I did with the same amount of Plague Bearers and even more nurglings in ETL VI. With that, only the poxbringer and the Armigers need building. I've already reconciled the fact that I wont be playing with a completely painted army, despite my principles against such abhorrent practices. But at least I can make the army WYSIWYG. During the week, I'll make a dent in painting the Knight and building the Armigers (including cockpits and pilots), and I'l hopefully be able to start chaosifying them.

That leaves me with the poxbringer and of course, objectives. I've build those yesterday. Here's proof:

The poxbringer (build from the Lord of Plagues, a Plagueridden's head and plaguesword, and some sculpting).

mRFfzxf.jpg

Then, there's the objective markers for the army! As you can see, they're mostly build of banners and the same grim reaper-like thing I used on my Imperial Fists objective markers, only I have exchanged his hammer head with a scythe blade instead of an Imperial Relinquary.

KPWxtMo.jpg

There's also three objectives of lower height - they all use Lord of Skulls belly weapons as a base. I'm quite in love with the bathing Nurglings!

Anyway, I hope you like them and I appreciate your comments (and any gaming advice with this list...).

Cheers!

@ Pandoras Bitz Box: Yeah you mean the Chaos Lord of Nurgle in terminator armour? Of course I finished it! It was part o the ETL, no? And ETL vows are always finished. OH wait, no they're not. That's why we lost. By 343 points. It still hurts.

@ Viridia: Haha cheers! I love it!

@ Grizzly_bear: Thanks!

Ha ha, I forgot it was part of a vow ok! I'm relatively new to bolter and it feels like there is always something to vow for that I'm too late in noticing so I guess that everything anything anyone is doing could always be a vow.  Sorry you guys, lost, there's always next year though! maybe I'll even join in. Anyway, yeah that lord turned out great, I also managed to find the prince too, really pleased with how well you executed that, I really like that model and i've thought about doing something with it for a while but never really nailed down how I would use all the parts.  I love these obective markers! The Nurgling oozebath is a really cool idea but I also like the burning censors, its clever how just turning them by 90 degrees makes them look like the flame is blowing in the wind rather than rising. very cool idea.

We literally lost because I was an idiot and vowed 60 kitbash-heavy cultists  (Sorry Auggy!)

Yeah, thanks for that Ged.

I always liked that Reaper statue / Banner. Good to see you used it well. Always thought it would make a cool Death Guard Banner, like an effigy of Mortarion.

Thanks everyone!

A long hobby day with hobby buddy Graham yields me this: 30 based and primered Plaguebearers and three Nurgling bases that I didn't even had to buy, but which consist solely of the nurglings you get with the Plaguebearers, Mortarion, and an assortment of other Nurgle Daemon and Death Guard Characters. Cheap, and easy! ;)

Ready for paint:

In addition, Graham brought me this box from discounter:

It's controversial! It's scandalous! I love these kits. I already put one body together (leaving on side panel unglued) and I'm pretty confident I can fit the Knight Pilots I have in there. That will be today's job.

Cheers!

@ BCK: haha thanks, buddy! Gad you like it so much!

@ Quixus: Cheers! Perhaps I should add bubbles?

@ brettfp: Steal away!

@ Bjorn Firewalker: Thanks

@ Hungry Nostraman Lizard: Of course Roman Numerals on those plates!

@ Pandoras Bitz Box: Most major events are either featured in the banner on the top of the page and/or are pinned to the top of the Works in Progress Section in the Forge. Thanks for spotting the burning censers! I thought that was pretty clever myself ;)

@ Gederas: No, we lost as a team. I was joking about the pain. We've learned and moved on. Besides, this is all just a chaotic ruse to trick the loyalists into complacency, so we can strike back at them next year!

@ DuskRaider: Ha! That's exactly how I envisioned it :)

@ rednekkboss: Loot away!

Fantastic updates but I am smitten with those objective markers! Those are awesome.

But not as awesome as all the details you are putting into your knight. That is top notch work with the tusked head and customized faceplate and that engine bay.

Sorry in advance if you have already answered this, but how are you doing the bones that stick out of the Plaguemarines? I also painted mine a lighter more bone like color than the standard green but can't get the bones to stick out from the armor like yours do.

Thanks.

Cheers, guys. Progress of the Nurgle Daemons is well underway. I can finish them before the tournament on Sunday. Here's a WIP shot in hidden brackets, as it's not that interesting...

What is far cooler, IMO, is the following: Chaos Armiger Helverins! Hurray!

Apologies for the plastic and resin dust everywhere, this required some hefty sandpapering and sawing with my hobby saw... :D I managed to build both without compromising the upper Armiger parts in any way. Now, I admit it's pretty easy to make these if you have access to the FW Knight pilots - the only real requirement is some good plasticard building skills. Still, I'm pretty proud that I managed this so well - and had an absolute blast doing it!

Now, all that remains is to chaosify these guys. I'm planning a similar treatment as with the knight I've been building, meaning sculpte dtrim with nails and horns here and there, as well as some skulls on spikes and the occasional chain. These guys aren't that big, and I hold fast to the adage that less is more. Still, this requires some work.

Anyway, I hope you likee them and welcome your feedback and critique in the comments!

Cheers!

@ Atia: Well, behold!

@ hushrong: Well thanks, buddy! I'm glad you like the objective markers and the Knight so much!

@ Conine: No worries, I'm also here to help and are happy to answer your questions :) The horns are GW Karak Stone with a GW Agrax Earthshade wash, followed by a spray of AP Matt Black to the tips. When they're particularly long, I put in a 'middle spray' of GW Rhinox Hide. This colour and technique is different enough from the armour recipe I use to differentiate the horns from the armour.  I hope this helps.

Looking good! Very cool armigers, the cockpits are especially impressive! Is that the back a terminator torso used as engine parts?:D

Now bring on the occasional chain, I want to see these guys chaosified (less is more or not:) )!

These look awesome. I have a couple of the FW Knight thrones but preferred the sentinel parts to mesh with the pilots I’ve used. Can’t wait to see these guys once you’ve added the GS.

I have to say the additional plasticard details are fantastic. :tu:
