Extremely Tenuous Lighting - Strategium Mode On

This whole thread is wall-to-wall epic, with maybe just a hint of crazy.turned.gif

But then I'm used to crazy, so I'm almost at home here.laugh.png

Also one thing that we are forgetting. I know we have been talking a lot about Templars vs Dark Angels, but don't forget that we will have the full weight of the rest of the Codex Space Marines behind us. With our combined strength we will indeed be formidable.

For what it's worth, that's going to include my DIY Chapter, since the Liber Astartes is also no longer a competitor in it's own right.

My White Hawks might not have your famed zeal, but I'll do my best to prove myself a worthy ally.turned.gif

Brother Debonair*, you are most welcome! We are an...exuberant bunch, but what is important is that all who embrace the Emperor are welcome to stand shoulder to shoulder with us in this endeavor as "skirts**" chase us. ;)

There is ZEAL behind the breastplate of every man. It has only to be unleashed.

You heard the man, Brothers.  We can't lose this year!

But do not take this as an excuse to be lax about your vows, Brothers.  You fight for a different Subforum this year, but you are still BLACK TEMPLARS!  I expect to see the same effort and zeal from each of you that we displayed two years ago when we claimed victory of the very first E Tenebrae Lux challenge!

I already have at least 2500 points set aside for the cause, and more and more I look at some models that desperately need a repaint.

Your vows will not be lost under the name "Angels of Death", they will still be very much visible.  Show, not only our opponents, but our allies as well.  Show them what makes you a Black Templar! Show them the Zeal that burns within you!

Scions of Sigismund, Sons of Dorn, stand as one!

NO PITY. NO REMORSE. NO FEAR

I have been starting to go stir crazy not being able to paint anything, and keep finishing more templar to the priming phase of life, 10 vanguard vets are now ready for paint with 5 sternguard on the way. Cant wait for the 1st to get here already.

I'm excited too, but I just realized I have a LRC that could be built for this and I haven't done hardly a thing to it, so I need every one of those 7 days so it's ready for paint

Don't worry Brother. We're all experiencing this.

Now, as said before, with the full might of C:SM, we cannot lose*

So our next objective should be to lead the effort, and end up as the biggest contributors, and have our image adorn the victory banner.

*:Unless victory conditions switch from amount of pts completed, to % completed, or something.

So, just to get the Strategium mode engaged, here's a short compilation of tips:

-You have 5 vows, use them. ex: If you have a total of 3K pts, don't put it all in a single vow, but spread it out to ensure you get as much done as possible. This also gives you some leeway should RL intervene. wink.png

-Start with small vows, such as a vehicle or 2. I estimate that a vow of <1000pts is perfect. The idea behind this is that early completions give a boost to your comrades, and in the last 2 editions, the faction who started with a decent amount of early completions won.

-Don't force it. Paint what you can. Don't feel pressured to paint more than you're comfortable with, especially in the later parts of the competition. Remember that if you fail a vow, all your previously completed vows don't count either! Usually it isn't worth possibly losing all your progress for an extra couple of points (unless you are completely sure you can complete the model(s) on time.)

-The most important one: Enjoy! This is a really fun event, and participating is better than winning, as they say. (But "they" are not Templars. We prefer winning.)

(Brothers Honda and Roujakis (and others) feel free to add. smile.png )

Shoulder to shoulder it is then, brother. biggrin.png

Let us bring the full might of the Imperium to bear on the competition!

Looking at my bits box, I've almost got enough pieces for a 5-man Terminator Squad.

There's still time for me to get some extra bitz in, so hopefully I can also piece together a Captain and Techmarine of some kind, too.happy.png

* We already have an 'Ace"

Well, for this challenge you can now have an Ace up each sleeve, so to speak. tongue.png

I personally have no idea how many points I have to contribute or if I'll make it at all... I'm currently hostage to the fact that my modeling supplies have yet to make the move out to join me and still reside in my parents home... they've been on their way soon for about two months now with few indications of any change... so when they get sent out I'll set to work with what can still be done in the time that remains...

I have a Knight titan, two boxes of sternguard ahm, sword bretheren, a drop pod, a box of sniper scouts, a dev box, an assault squad box, and a chapter upgrade kit all making me very sad as they sit on their sprues because I don't want to buy another snips and glue when I have them already just in a different state... wallbash.gif

Listen to Andhill, the 5 bolter shells in his sig banner do not lie!

Would it be considered vain to like this post? teehee.gif

@greggles: drool.gif I like what I see.

@mandalore: There should be a reasonable amount of time between the announcement and the deadline for entry in the competition. I hope you make it, Brother! thumbsup.gif

i just thought of something. I remember reading that the good Captain said that allies would not be allowed for the ETL. Does that include Imperial Knights? Or did we confirm that they will be counted toward our points?

The Emperor has blessed me with a donation from a friend of 28 marines (painted in black templar fashion) that are in need of paint striping and they'll be ready for the ETL that puts me at about 50-60 battle brothers ready to be painted !!!!

Now i need to remember how to strip paint from plastic models... was it detol or something else :( damn the warp i cant remember :(

I have heard good things about detol. I tried fairy power spray, which eventually stripped the metal model very well, but after days of soaking and scrubbing, still didn't remove all the base coats from the plastic - but they were sprayed twice with blue and then red primer, so perhaps that was to be expected?

Probably...  I stripped a 15 year-old paint job of a couple of minis last week using Power Spray.  After an 8 hour soak (while I was at work) & a scrub with an old toothbrush they were as good as new.

Just done a quick calc of what I've got to paint & it comes to 1300 pts.  If I get it all done, it'll be the first time I've broken the 1k barrier.  It does, however, include a storm raven.  If that model has the same de-motivating effect on me that the storm talon did last year, I'm screwed...

The  good Captain has "hinted" that Escalation and/or Stronghold might be available for forces, but we will just have to wait and see. He's really enjoying this "Inner Circle" thing. :P
