Kierdale
I'm glad he and the blossom are popular! :) I finished the dark apostle on Monday night but Grandpa Nurgle deigned to give me a touch of the dreaded lurgy so I couldn't upload any photos then or yesterday. Hopefully tonight. Kierdale
And here he is, dark apostle Angra of the Psychopomps, former master of sanctity of the Stygian Guard. His crozius - likely I'll explain whose skull that is in a future Inspiration Friday entry. I put some scratches on the haft as, with that left hand claw it's not going to go unblemished. Pleased with how the red gem came out. Lust...Hate...Agony...Bliss His Caryatid and scroll (there is indeed an Elder Sign in there, Aasfresser). WarriorFish
It seems there is fantastic detail and modification wherever you look! You've outdone yourself here Kier he's an amazing model! The close ups really show him off, well done! Kierdale
Thanks for the comments, all! This is your best work yet, well done mate - he is positively evil! Lots of cool ideas all well done. Win! Yes, I think it may be my best work yet. Now I have to top it in the future... These don't top him, but I got them all finished at last! Since I vowed the 20 as two squads of ten for this year's Call of Chaos, here's the first ten: And the second ten: All the tribe together... And with Angra leading them, the full completed CoC vow: And individual shots... I'd love to hear which are people's favourites (and for what reasons). Hidden Content Pin through face That's just an autopistol. Honest. Hates being disarmed. It really hurts when I sneeze... Kierdale
And the rest... Hidden Content Don't ask where that chain ends... With a nice bit of trophy armour there... I really wanted to give one a noose. And the belly-blade is inspired somewhat by the last WHFB Beastmen armybook The gore looks rather bright here. Must have caught the light as its actually much darker. One of the two Caprigor, with a Templar helmet trophy. One of my favourites. Who knows how that golden icon is held onto his chest. Standard bearer. With Dark Angel helmet (as a friend plays them). Banner wording taken from RoC: StD. Musician, carved the Slaanesh icon into his own flesh. And the (other) Caprigor leader, with Eldar Guardian head. A last close-up of the chain piercing his calves, deliberately hobbling himself. Oh the glorious pain! There are a couple with breasts, but hopefully I managed to keep them subtle enough. WarriorFish
I got about half way through judging them before giving up, I can't pick a favourite amongst so many diamonds! Excellent work, the tattoos really look good especially on the faces - feels very organic in how they're "applied". If I really had to pick favourites I'd go for the very last three, the extra bits and such they have make them pop :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287065-psychopomps-photos-before-farewell/page/15/#findComment-4226445 Share on other sites
Teetengee
I like 6 and 19 the best, not because they are necessarily the best painted, but because they have the best overall effect in my estimation. Carrack
All look so good. I'll pick the champions, the one with a mace in a safety chain, and the Black Templar pauldron thief, and the one that hurts to sneeze. I could go on but those are my favorites. Augustus b'Raass
Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to pick a favourite among so many great models. Midnightmare
Such an excellent couple of squads, great ideas all round (very S&M) really well executed. Again, hard to pick a fave, I am going for 3 - Musician, Mace Dude and the Leader with Eldar head, though it's a hard one as they are all great! Kierdale
Thank you for the comments. The head-holder and musician are two of my favourites. I'm working on getting my three Rhinos ready to paint at the same time. The different schemes on each should help break up the monotony. And I've been working on six objective counters... The first: as I used this Daemonette head on the Alluress of one squad already I don't want to use it again, so modelled it as if the head is pushing its way up through the wraithbone ground... Then daubed it with Agrellan Earth (or whatever the crackle one is called again. Luckily the paint I use for bases is about the same brown. Not intentional but a stroke of luck). And here it is -finished- alongside the others. Where Greenstuff was used to blend the head into the ground a bit is still visible (as a wavy line) but I don't mind too much. I'll take some close-ups (so you can see the crackling better) once all six are done. There's also the blood-filled Octed one. As for the three with stairs: one will have a familiar on it (the one from the Chaos Lord in TDA kit), one will have a Chaos servo-skull on it and the other will have crates, books and scrolls. And as for the one with the Biel-Tan icon... Sesame seeds... Painted up... And varnished... As a Slaanesh symbol made from Eldar soulstones. That's 33 space-pansy souls on their way to the Dark Prince! Teetengee
I would have suggested making it 36 (6x6 and all that) but well done, very well done! Kierdale
I would have suggested making it 36 (6x6 and all that) but well done, very well done! I know! When I made it I had no idea how many 'stones' it would take. After, just out of curiosity, I counted and thought to myself Bugger! I should have used three more! :D Lord Abaia and General Strike 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287065-psychopomps-photos-before-farewell/page/15/#findComment-4229939 Share on other sites
Teetengee
Yeah, in hindsight you could have added one to the length and one each to each of the longer protrusions, but I don't have a great suggestion for adding more now. (Although maybe one at the longer protrusions each and one in the center of the circle? but that would potentially seem forced) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287065-psychopomps-photos-before-farewell/page/15/#findComment-4230268 Share on other sites
Sheesh Mode
Â Skulls, scrolls and a whole lot more still WIP. One question: I'm rather stumped on what colour to do his cloak. As he doesn't have the mark of Slaanesh on his shoulder as the rest of the chapter warband do, I'll be freehanding that on his cloak, but what colour to paint the actual cloak...? White with a red based symbol of slaanesh blending into pink and indigo. Â Edit: Welp! That cloak is also fantastic. (Although maybe one at the longer protrusions each and one in the center of the circle? but that would potentially seem forced) Yes, I suppose I could go back and add three more...but most people won't notice. Who'd actually check if I said there were six-times-six soul stones on there? ;) A bit of WIP on my three rhinos... First up the gunner for one. This boy'll never be out of ammo. The shell-cheeks are inspired by Mad Max Fury Road's The People Eater's driver, who has bullets vertically across the cheeks and front of his mask. And I curved a belt (from an IG HWT heavy bolter) across his right pauldon. And, for a different rhino - the ex-Sisters of Battle one - spikes. A lot of spikes. Over 65 of 'em. Evil Eye
You can never have too many spikes. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287065-psychopomps-photos-before-farewell/page/15/#findComment-4231938 Share on other sites
Teetengee
How did you make the spikes? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287065-psychopomps-photos-before-farewell/page/15/#findComment-4232091 Share on other sites
Kierdale
The spikes are pins (like you'd use for sewing). I simply drilled holes in the armour panel, cut pins roughly to length, slotted them in and let superglue run down the panel. The latter will probably give the panel an interesting look/texture rather than being smooth, which is fine by me. I'm not sure I want to add any more spikes though as it is rather time consuming! Kierdale
After adding spikes to the front of that panel I last night had a moment of clarity - or sensibleness - and thought: At the best this is likely to scratch my own models. At the worst this is likely to scratch my opponent's models. At the best this is likely to prick me during games. At the worst this is likely to prick my opponent enough to make them bleed, jerk away from the model and knock other models and terrain flying. Â Ergo I yanked all the pins out and will be GSing over the now hole-riddled section.
