You really have to paint the bionic eyelenses either glossy black (though that probably is going to be hard to pull of properly) or a bright, menacing red for extra Raven-ness. I suppose the chest feathers will be black? If so you could paint them glossy and with a slightly bluish tint, that will make them stand out more from the background. Also, IIRC that's anatomically correct too. Try to avoid getting your eyes picked out by him while you're asleep, though. Save that for the enemy. KBA Posted April 5, 2014 Author Share Posted April 5, 2014 Muninn Rax - Deliverer of HorusThough a little more coarse than the traditional Asiatic dust he had in his personal quarters aboard the ill-fated XIX Judgment, the substitute powder Atarus Servitor C-19 brought him, now aboard the Molten Edge, shared the same pale hue as wetted gobs streaked over the contours of his high astartes cheek bones. A flame retardant of some design, the legionary surmised. With a militaristic delicacy, his fingertips became brushes of a rembrancer, his face a canvas he’d painted a thousand times. As he applied the war paint in front of the mirror, his gaze unblinkingly followed the trace of his fingers as they ran under his eyes on hidden tracks. Those black eyes. Full of empty, those who still had sclera would mock. Muninn Rax knew the opposite. Dark orbs stained by the darkness he had committed over two centuries of murder. Murder. The truth of it all had set him free long ago. He wondered then if the eyes of the Sons of Horus were now the same black badges of truth, crammed unceremoniously in sockets like those that stared back at him in the mirror. Suddenly, the ironic peace that withered his guilt became aflame with hatred. Not of self this time. Of Horus. Of Horus and his coward sons. The pusillanimity the XVI Legion brought to the stars from the streets of Cthonia was all too familiar to Muninn: the XIX playing the role of blade to the Luna Wolves’ hilt for decades before Corax finally set the legion free. He remembered their howls somehow speech, as they would corral victims toward the murderous shadows where the XIX lurked. What did the barks say on Isstvan V, he mused – teeth now clenching. To finally be the blade that cut the throat? To finally learn murder? As Muninn finished applying the dust to his face, his muddied fingers unintentionally painted streaks across a new surface. With the weight of his power hammer hefting in one hand, his thumb activated the weapon. A misleadingly warm green lit his dim quarters aglow: a crackling idle hum filling the silence. In the mirror, Muninn Rax looked into dark eyes once more. Buried in those ebony eyes, the pointed head of his axe shone true: a burning beak of a raven. He swore an oath then. One greater than the tens of thousands of oaths he swore before as many battles, greater still than the oath sworn to Corvus Corax who had taught him justice and freed his soul, yet somehow even greater than his oath to the Emperor who had stole him as a babe from his mother’s breast on Holy Terra. Muninn Rax swore his dark spheres would absorb one final deed: the pleasure he’d witness in tearing his once-brothers limb from limb. I can never seem to get it right myself, and yours is spot on. Glad a fellow Raven digs it! The white is simply White Scar painted in a bunch of very thin layers. The black is just primer with a touch ups and a wash. The first highlight on the black is a a 1:1:1 mix of Abaddon Black, Mechanicus Standard Grey, and The Fang. The final highlight is a 2:1 mix of The Fang, and Blue Horror. All paint is diluted with water, and worked off of a wet pallet :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
