WarriorFish's ETL III - Eleven Barrels of Hell

Thanks biggrin.png You can also see why I've yet to apply any camouflage to my tanks. Aside from not having decided that I want the tanks in camo yet the scheme as it is on the infantry just wouldn't work the same on vehicles. At the least it would have to be thicker, maybe more larger scale/interconnected lines? Along with weathering it's something that seems eternally on the back burner as I've not decided what methods to use and busy myself with other projects.

That will change as my reserve of Guard kits rapidly evaporates - I never thought I'd see the day! laugh.png For now though I should be concentrating on getting as many ETL models done as possible and save such things for later when there are fewer time constraints smile.png Onwards to glory; I have a busy week ahead where I will likely not get time to even visit the B&C never mind work on my vow so I'm hoping to steal some time tonight to glue the modelling sand to bases thumbsup.gif

Thanks, the Baneblade was a pleasure to paint :D Tanks are great so a big tank is even better! :P That is a very basic description of the ETL though, doesn't quite do it justice! It's an inter-forum competition to see which faction can paint the most points in the time frame. It's a lot of fun and really helps you to get some hobby done; across a mere two ETLs I've drastically reduced my Guard kit backlog :tu:

The doors have closed for new entrants now, but there's nothing stopping you from visiting out strategium to see what's going on and offer your support to your comrades-in-arms :)

The rules are simple once you read them, it's mostly about getting models done as part of a team :) The competition part is just to add some flavour and an end goal to look to. It's a great thing to take part in unless you're Captain Semper in which case you're run ragged by organising and maintaining it. You also get chased around by enthusiastic Commissars waving paint brushes (including Semper laugh.png ) tongue.png

It's been an eventful week but it's nice to get back to some normality. As it is ETL season normality also involves painting! biggrin.png I got so far into the black camo, guns and boot touch ups before I started wanting to jump out of the window. Granted, from the 1st floor would just make me have to get back into the house again but I thought better to stop tongue.png

So instead I decided to paint the PCS to completion and it was a good idea. A nice reminder of the end result that isn't too far away smile.png The banner isn't done yet, I'll probably leave that until last plus I need to find the Regimental banner bearer for reference:

I think I'll paint up each squad separately too now I'm on the last leg. Looks like it's time to start pondering my 3rd vow, there are some logistical issues to navigate before though. Watch this space! :tu:

Thanks, it's supposed to look like the land hasn't quite been reduced to a complete quagmire yet :) That's the old GW static grass, I'm not sure if it exists any more? It's the "mixed" one rather than the glade grass's green.

You have much to learn, young padawan.  Much to learn.  War is GOOD for the vegetation!  Observe this scene from your local AM training facility::

Drill Instructor:  What makes the green grass grow?

Recruits:  Blood!  Blood!  Bright red blood!

Not if battle has recently started it isn't :P Being back at work after a busy long weekend is hard going, I need to schedule in a few earlier nights to get back on top of things. I'm aiming to have one of the squads complete (or near as damn it) by the end of this week :)

The weekend is looking good! It's unfortunate that I'll be busy for the rest of the day but I've spent it well so far - one of the infantry squads is all but done! biggrin.png

The HWT base will come last with the other one so I can position the models after I've glued the sand, but other than that all they need is their bases painted and grassed smile.png Tomorrow should see enough time to not only finish the other squad but also do most of the additional bits such as the banner so everything is on schedule thumbsup.gif

The Emperor blessed me today, I got a lot of work done biggrin.png Here's the second squad to the same completion as the first:

Not only that but I also managed to finish the standard bearer:

I've glued the modelling sand to the HWT bases now so that will set me up to spend the evenings of next week doing the bases at a leisurely pace along with the last odd bits. I never imagined I could get the Platoon done this quickly, it was hard work at times but worth it. I've got a few ideas for my next vow so I'll calculate my free time to see how much I can squeeze in smile.png
