The Legion for you... Community Assistance Thread

I've been trying to decide between a few legions these past 2 weeks whilst I'm on holiday. Plan is to start painting when I get back...

I was had about 7 possible choices and then a tour bus pulled up with the word "Ultramar" emblazoned on the side...

Choice made

As one of the worst offenders of the whole "choose my Legion/Chapter/Army/whatever(4 Armies votes, anyone), I feel a little obligated to chime in here.

choosing a legion has been, in my experience, waaaay more difficult than a chapter. but I finally put on my big boy power armor and chose for myself.........yay for me!

 I am currently doing 2 Legions;

1. Imperial fists. I am NOT taking Sigismund. It will most likely be a three-pronged force consisting of a solid Cavalry force with some infantry and artillery elements. Charnable sabres for everyone! I just need to decide whether or not I am going with the ol' unification era grey with yellow arm colors or a more siege of terra scheme.

I quite like the yellow armed grey scheme, though.

2. Death Guard. this will be a lesson in grime. pure. simple. grime. these will be a less corrupted version of the Siege of Terra forces. they will almost all be straight up trench fighters. with improvised weapons and armour repairs.

just my thought on my guys.

there will also be some allies for each..........but that is a secret, for now.

Not that I will be playing HH... but this thread intrigues me.

40k is turning into a dissapointment for me, but choosing a Legion has been difficult despite liking all of them or saying I love Iron Warriors the most when I want to run Possessed in 40k.

I am not partial to White Scars, and Ultramarines and SoH are only slightly better. While I love the concept of Gal Vorbak, I still don't care for the Dark Preacher concept of Word Bearers.

From your name, I think Salamanders are for you :P

Salamanders have been one of my favorite loyalist backgrounds for years. I admit, the flames, craftsman, and :cussing fire drakes are awesome, even if I love Iron Warriors and tanks/Artillery or the WE and Luna Wolves white paintjobs.

I think you're right, completely keep forgetting Loyalists. Don't get me wrong, Iconoclasts sound awesome. I just don't like the Zealot theme. Which coincidentally just sealed my 40k Warband.

I did the same thing, all my chosen legions were traitors, but when I actually decided I picked Raven Guard. Although, I am also going to do an Iron Warrior/Alpha Legion siege and sabotage force... But yeah. Don't forget the loyalists!
Just do it bit by bit, that's how I'm gonna have to do it. It's almost a blessing in disguise for me, because it gives me time to actually finish a unit before I can move on. It'll take ages before I have an army though :/

I've pretty much set my heart on a main force of Salamanders, with an allied/seperate force of Blood Angels once they come out. I'm going to be saving up for the next month or so to get a big free shipping order from FW to start off with. Definitely getting the red rulebooks and the mk.2 strike force (the consul has a massive hammer, it's a given) I'm just wondering what people would recommend for the rest of the purchase (~80 pounds). I'm going to be concentrating on making a solid troop core first before getting the fun stuff. My next order after this is set, as it'll be a mk.3 tactical squad deal and the rhino deal.

With that in mind, should I spend the rest of the cash on this order on salamander shoulder pads and other accessories?
