The Talon Of Horus

The one thing I will say is if you're hoping to see the Traitor Legions etc you're going to be disappointed. The Legion Wars are in full swing and there are no Legions anymore. They're torn themselves apart through bitterness, blood and betrayal. There's only one true Legion by the time the First Black Crusade sallied forth from the Eye and that's the Black Legion.

There is a fantastic explanation of just how the Black Legion differs from the rest of the warbands reaving through Eye-space and also their thoughts on the warp and the "Chaos Powers" in general

And this is why I am dissapointed with the general direction.

The book for all intents and purposes though, I'll omit myself permanently from the discussion.

Man, got mine quicker than anticipated. #0281 here.

I haven't been able to read much at all yet, so I will hold off on commenting on the writing, but good lord, this thing is gorgeous.

Absolutely the best quality book yet published by the BL. This thing just oozes class. I was super happy to see the binding is stitched instead of glued. My main gripe about the HH hardbacks are the glued bindings, and I was worried I would see the same thing here.

Great googlie mooglie. I've only read the author's note and the dramatis personae, and I'm excited as this seems like it will answer some of my curiosities about the vagary of the warp. Also, A D-B, I'd love copies of your research, especially with any notes. msn-wink.gif

P.S. I like how Iskandar is named after me.

Kidding.

Psssh, my bones will be burned to ash, have no fear of that.

I want that for you Kol

Just read spoilers for this on another forum and there are not enough curse words in the history of human existence to describe how amazing this book is and is going to be when I can finally read it. Can't thank you enough Aaron.

Just got mine and wow did the package take a beating like none other than Royal Mail can deliver.  I mean the corners of the box are heavily dented and rounded as is expected, but a portion of the box is missing and I could actually see the book before I opened the box.  At least the USPS was nice enough to attach a handwritten note stating the package was received in this condition with an apology.  Fortunately the book is undamaged, somehow, except for a couple of faint scratches on the blacked edges of the paper along the bottom.  If Black Library had an option to have the book mailed to me in ANY fashion that precluded Royal Mail from ever coming within 50m of it, I would take that option in a heartbeat.  I don't care if that option involved a disgruntled Scotsman rowing it across the Pond and handing it to a US Postman personally; I'd wait so long as my order arrived safely.

Still, it is here now and despite Royal Mail's efforts to reduce the run to 1,499 numbered books I have my copy.
