What are you guys thoughts on The IV or the traitor legions in general of using the newer marks of power armour? Mainly as I have a bunch of tactical marines I'm having join my csm

Perfectly fine. Traitor marines are well known to scavenge armour, weapons and materiel from fallen loyalists.

In fact, it's unlikely that a traitor marine from the heresy will still have their original set of power armour, it being damaged and replaced over the millenia.

Thought of something when reading reading the new release thread - the stars are similar to the US steel stars. If memory serves me well, weren't the original Terran born Iron Warriors recruited mainly from the former US? Might be a bit far fetched but if so, I can see why the star might have been used. I'll probably get some, as well as a few packs of the helmets.

nope, HH3 places them at a "Recidivist Fortress on the Auro plateau of Sek-Amrak", which hints at Turkey/Irak (fits the cultural background of mostly post-alexandrinic hellenized persia, e.g. "stor-bezashk", etc.)

That U.S. steel symbol is the only explanation I've heard so far. Doesn't make sense for iron, though. pretty disappointing.

Aha, fair play then. I only based this on something I read a while ago, a poster style meme. I'll have to read HH3 a bit more to brush up. Many thanks Nehekhare. Maybe the star is Olympian in origin? I have a feeling time will tell.

I've been ignoring my Iron Warrior force for some time, I need to get some more done! Especially with potential Dark Mechanicus units.

I already have three distinct squads for Cultists/R&H, but these Skitarii Vanguard are what I've always imagined and wanted for my Grand Conpany auxiliaries. I am definitely getting at least the one squad.

Probably no real conversions outside of weapons once I decide exactly what they are. Just a suitably darker paint job.

Is there anywhere that has the information listed? I can't remember the last time I read the fw codexes.

Perry - Iron Warriors are looking cool :biggrin.:  Is that converted buring brand on the lord?

Ok so the Brand is great, but that sword! Really digging it, looks great on the model. And those hazard stripes are lovely too. Fantastic model bud.

Hi guys, im pondering on running iron warrior's albeit with the SM codex which will allow me to use alot more of the heavier equipment such as "acquired" centurions flyer support etc.

Keep pondering? i'm considering running mine with the BA codex for a laugh to make vindis and my preds more viable...but I just love chaos too much.

If you are looking for just the gaming aspect....play some loyalist book. You could make any one of them really fit the bill for an IW feel it just depends on how creative you want to be.

Other then that you just have to man up and use the dex we have.

I was thinking of just using the normal marine book, so i can ally some guard with artillery or some of that new mechanicus stuff

Imperial Armour 13 should satisfy a Warsmith's need for human auxiliaries and heavy armour and artillery without having to resort to loyalist books.

As for the Dark Mechanicum, I struggle with that myself, but it does make sense for a wary Warsmith to not want his own people too close to such an ally. I know I keep one eye on my mechanical friends when they're around. Knights are definitely a wonderful distraction for your enemy.

Does anyone have a copy, or can point me in the right direction, of the Will Of Iron series by Christian Byrne, that was spread over a few issues of White Dwarf around issue 297?

UK White Dwarf 294, 295 & 296.  Also a few issue on, there a article when Chrstian added a Vindicator to his army & then there another issue where the Iron Warriors are in a battle report vs Salamander.  I'll try get the white dwarf number later today & get them added to the first post.

Check ebay, amazon or forum that have a trade area set up like warseer
