Shooty arms are quite compatible with the BA assault termies. The torsos are...difficult to mix and match. Intermediate hobbiest should be able to handle it.

I would absolutely love the BA TDA Assault kit... IF the heads were separate...

For some unknown ridiculous reason they aren't.

I've successfully (in my opinion) blended the BA assault terms, regular terms and dark vengeance terms to make some unique units. It isn't too hard - check my plog for results!

I have some DV termies, was wondering if it was worth converting them ...

I had 2 sets. I left one "as is", and the other I mixed up with the other boxes. They work quite well, even if cutting away some of the powerfist arms to make them into assault terminators is a pain.

DV Body, normal term left arm.

Yeah, not hard. Just rather annoying.

I like these. Great work.

Painting black bits right now on ~ 13 or so models. As much as it pains me to say, I think I'll have to stop highlighting line troops as I'll never have enough time in this lifetime :(

Xenith and Spagunk, nice kitbash above. Makes me want to get on with mine...

The lightning claw with the wing is he easiest one to convert, as he has very little distinct DA iconography. I actually chopped up one of the BA wings and added a blood drop to that wing. I also took the Blood vials attached to the Death company chainsword and attached it to where the shattered sword trinket is.

Today, my shame threatened to overwhelm me (and I want a break from my Knight) so I wanted to paint some BA.  Remembering how well my Baal predator served me a couple weeks ago, I decided to work on that.  Most of it had one weak coat of red or black before, now most of it is looking pretty even.  I still haven't touched the sponsons and need to clean up some of my edges, though, but I'm hopeful that after my hobby time tomorrow it'll look pretty sweet.  I've also been pondering what to spend my hobby budget on for the month (sadly going to be smaller for a while due to other bills).  For the first time in a long time I don't feel like I need anything, but there's still a ton of stuff I want.  Right now I'm leaning towards some more Predators to fill out an LATF (I brought it once by proxying Razorbacks which got a lot of complaints and left my infantry with no rides), or maybe a dreadnought or two to try out Chapter Ancients, which sounds really appealing as it could make a great and easy ally for my AdMech, when I eventually get enough pods for them.  I might just end up buying whichever one I can find cheapest...

Whatever ones I can get, haha!  Currently I have one flamestorm predator, and for dreads I have a venerable model (which I built to look pretty normal, doesn't look venerable) that could be TL lascannon, asscan or a fragioso.  I also have a kheres contemptor which I can use in a pinch.  For Chapter Ancients, I'd probably focus on shooting since you can guarantee the doubleshot but not all will survive into CC for the bonus attack.  At least one librarian dread, too, because I like using it but proxies are very frowned on.  For LATF I'd probably want at least one regular Predator and I know I'll want the dakka baal, for the LATF or otherwise.

Personally I think you need to go all regular predators to get the free Lucifer Engines. Or maybe 2 trip laser preds and 1 baal.

This is a point I've considered often, and I'm not sure I'm convinced of it. Yeah, Baals are overpriced, and regular preds are much nicer on that regard, and they can get the fast for free whereas a Baal has to pay for it. But does a lascannon need fast or scout? Sure, they could help, but how likely are you to need that help? Anything I have with a lascannon has always been happiest staying close to home and not moving much. I haven't played either option very much but I just don't see much synergy there.

To get at juicy side armour, or to avoid Ion shields, it helps.

Personally I'm not a fan of the Baal Predator. It's good at mulching infantry, which is what just about every other unit in our codex is good at.

In hobby news for today, I painted the masks and pauldrons for my remaining Sanguinary Guard. All I have left is the jump packs (wings require only hilighting... so just the time consuming part) and then whatever arms I decide to equip them with.

Yeah, I think the outflank would be good for auto cannons especially.  I wasn't really considering that before, only the fast, which I've never needed for lascannons.

Game vs GKs this weekend. I'm bringing OIF, DCSF, and a CAD with Karl, Cassor, and scouts. This list wasn't made specifically to fight GKs, but something I can do with mostly painted models.

Questions: why are dreadknights scary and what in my list can take them on? Thunder hammer termies?

Anything else I should be scared of? I know 2+ armor will be everywhere and I guess some psychic stuff too?

Edited by Brother Lemartes

My view is limited but they have strong ranged weaponry and are likely to shunt (think if it as a large single use jump move) up the board in the first turn and be a royal pain from then on. Thankfully, they are only a Monstrous Creature.

Oh, and they tend to come in multiples.

They're jump monstrous creatures with force weapons and 2+/5++ saves. They can make a one time 30" shunt move and still shoot (but not assault I think).

Oif thunder hammers into one, beyond that you may not catch it.

They are only T6, so on the charge you will wound them on 5+ with DC, get a DC Chap in there and that is a lotta wounds. You'll wound on 4+ with axes and deny their 2+ too.

Really, against 1W models they hurt, but aren't fighting their premium target (they have a lot of force) so just dakka them up. If he's moving up 30" you should have no problem getting the charge on him too.
