Went to my local store for a game and more than half the tables were being used by starwars nerds. No game space for me means no game today. I've not had a game since October of last year.

Edit: I mean am I off base for thinking that scheduling starbores on a traditional 40k night is kind of a jerk move?

If it was an event then yeah but if it was just a bunch of rando's hitting the tables on the same night, just bad luck.

Damned Rando Calrissians :P I agree with what Silas7 says of course - though I would have liked to have seen you throw down against some Rebels with your Blood Angels - would have been a massacre :teehee:

That's a long time to go without a game though, would it be possible to schedule an opponent in advance? However long in advance as needed to get a game!

Spa gunk, where are you living?

Vancouver WA. The store is great but I just felt really disappointed. Like if you were a kid and you saved all your money for something great and get to the store and find out that the item you wanted was sold out forever.

Since I'm pretty new to anything GW related, I'd like to ask this. Remember that forgeworld blood angels terminator that was previewed? How long does it usually take for such previews to release? I want some more stuff from forgeworld and I wanna know if its worth the waiting, cause shipping to greece is like 10 pounds unless I combine orders :P

The 30k Preator?

Nothing gets previewed that isn't 3 months or less from release :)

Moar DCs!!

Quoting myself here, cause I just found out that FW and GW have very different shipping costs (at least for my country). For GW shipping costs 10 euros and its free for orders above 50 euros. For FW its just a % of the price, and its free for orders above 250 pounds (?), so there is no reason to wait for the praetor since I dont plan to go anywhere close to 250 pounds anyway. I wanna buy some BA rhino doors and a assault cannon to convert it into a (cool looking BA themed) razorback. Before I pay, is there any reason NOT to get those? Never bought FW stuff before, but I've heard reports about low quality, damaged parts etc.

+++ETL VI - WEEK 9 UPDATE+++

Week 9 was way more productive than Week 8 with 29k worth of completed points vs. just 12k last week. We have also collectively surpassed the 100k pts threshold arriving at 113k pts while total points pledged are fast approaching the 400k mark (in fact it may have been surpassed by now.

This week I identified two mistakes that I made. The first was that I had incorrectly counted Mad Santa in the BA team in my spreadsheet (instead of SM) and the second was that I did not count Draegher’s completions in the AoD-T; both of which are now corrected.

So, as far as factions go, the SMs still lead but by a much more narrow margin vs. the AoD of just 1.2k pts. Chaos is third and the Xenos and the Forces of the Imperium are pretty close to each other despite the Astra Militarum’s excellent performance

So let’s see Week 9 in detail:

BLOOD ANGELS:

Amazing performance! They have the highest completion rate within the Astartes Faction and this is reflected in their significantly higher score that lands then in the third position overall. Their re-vowing rate is also the strongest in the Astartes context at 39% – although by no means among the strongest in the ETL overall and not that much better vs. the SMs (36%) or the SWs (34%). So the strategy here is (apart from completing the first vows of course – this applies for all Forums) to intensify re-vowing. Other than that, things look good for the BAs!

Another good week, with internet cookies going to Lamentermarine (Mr Yellow) for scoring two super-vows this week

Currently sat in third overall (on ETL score) and within touching distance of second, so it's still all to play for. Whilst the SMs have slowed down some, they certainly aren't out of the running (same goes for both AoD and DA Factions) but it should be noted that Chaos has kicked on, as is there way. So long as we keep with them and get a higher completion rate (which is easily doable), then football the ETL is coming home :wink.:

Honestly, I'm not feeling it at the moment but only because I've got a billion other things on the go :sad.: Doesn't mean I wont in the future...

Are you?

At the very least its an excuse to finish painting some bits I started 6 months ago! :teehee:

Actually kind of like the idea of using it to intro some family members to a demo sized game. Which I guess is the point of the release...

Figure I can paint both sides and have a couple of skirmish level rounds in an evening without having to do a crash course on 8th ed rules nor paint a complete non BA army for them to use. Not 100% sold on the Skitarii base set though. Maybe see what the faction releases look like.

So.... I finally built the mastodon today. About time considering I had the whole thing washed and trimmed almost a year ago.

Took about 7 hours which wasn't as bad as I thought. I'd post a WIP but THE GOD DAMN FRONT DOOR  WON'T CLOSE!

Trimming resin around it didn't work. Magnets are not powerful enough. Short of me just calling it a day and glue it down shut forever it's just not having it.

The door is 90% closed, but there is a gap wide enough to fit through a thunder hammer...

It's also kind of beyond freezer action at this point, since I scored all the joints and used so much putty and epoxy glue.

I'm gonna try some more heat gun action to see if I can force a wrap fit. Problem is all the components are really thick and the resin starts smoking before it bends. It's also super hot here and I'm having to choose between ventilating toxic fumes and the inferno outside. :yucky:
