Due to the nature of the fog of war style deployment of the campaign, most of us opted for tactically sound defensive deployment.

Mechanicum

2 pairs of Knights up front.

2 units of castellax, a techpriest and servitors and a Krios battle tank on the right flank

Left rear guard is a Thanatar, 1 unit of castellax and a Magos and retinue.

right Rear guard is a unit of Tallax.

Due to the slow nature of his force, Zigui is obviously going to compact his units to create a slow steamrolling effect. He wlll be very hard to stop!

Iron Hands

The spearhead is lead by a spartan loaded with breachers and a contemptor.

The left wing is a Landraider with Iron father and command squad, with a contemptor.

The right wing is a landraider with legion support squad.

Tactical squad tailing behind the right wing.

Castellax on home base.

As the IH player, I decided to launch a strong forward drive exploiting my armoured elements. My durability should allow me to deal with mostly anything I encounter, or fallback unscathe otherwise.

Iron Warriors

XrandB's deployment picture will come later, I forgot to take it before he linked up with another player

Suffice to say that it is a mimic of my deployment, with a heavy spearhead led by a vindicator, spartan with Warsmith and bodyguard.

The left wing is a predator and tactical squad

The right wing is a predator and tactical squad with a librarian

The Left tail is a landspeeder, contemptor dreadnought and havocs.

the Right tail is a Scorpius, tactical squad and rapier battery.

Imperial Fists

Slipstream is running a very durable Pride of the legion list, complemented with heavy use of armoured transports.

He runs a spearhead formation with the Spartan and terminator squad with Primus Medicae

the left hex is an achiles with Sisigmund and templars

Midfield he has a proteus and terminator squad

Back left is a Contemptor

Back right is a Sicaran and terminators.

    “The atmosphere was tense. The officers seemed weary and nervous, probably due to the fact that Warsmith Gog was on the bridge. The men call him “The Grinder”, and I can see why. I have been part of this fleet for 47 years now, and I have seen Gog throw away the lives of countless men, Navy, Army and Astartes alike to achieve his goals. He has a fearsome reputation for disliking failure; a trait most likely inherited from the Primarch Perturabo. He knows it and the officers on the bridge know it far to well.

    We had made warp break four hours prior and were proceeding at full propulsion speed towards the Braxis Forgeworld. Of course none of this could be confirmed by eye, as there is not a single bloody view-port on this vessel; view-ports are seen as vanity and have no practical use to the Iron Warriors. Gog seemed quite irritated. His conversation with Archmagos Xanatov the previous day seemed to still be on his mind. He profoundly disliked having to explain himself, especially to what he considered an underling. The Fleet had received orders from the Primarch a few months back. Of course I was not made aware of the details, but it seemed clear that the fleet was to get to the Agis Sector asap. Rumors of eminent engagement with loyalist legions were running wild in the fleet. The 97th would get its taste of blood soon.

    All of a sudden, data screens seemed to come to life and flash text at an alarming rate. The long range sensor was on overdrive and the comms officers opened his mouth to speak, but was abruptly interrupted by Gog.

-    (Admiral Gog) Hold your breath petty officer; there is no need to state the obvious. We are all looking at the same data. Words from your mouth would only sour the moment.

 

All the men turned to Gog and all were showing expressions of pure surprise. What they were looking at was an unseen and exceptional sight indeed. Admiral Gog was smiling. A full, almost obscene smile. The smile rapidly faded and he spoke with a booming voice:

 

-    (Admiral Gog) Comms officer, open a channel. Fleet wide transmission.

Our raven guard player was smelling trouble, and decided to modify his roll by +1! This enabled him to like up with me!

The Mechanicum and the Iron Warriors decided to link their tiles as such, forming a strong battleline :

On the other hand, the Ravenguard and I decided to deploy in a fan out pattern.

This leaves the bitter rivals, the Night Lords and the Imperial fists as dispositions unknown. Perhaps they will join the fray next turn!
